Sounds and Fury Personalized feelings about the video The movie, sounds and fury was very interesting. Hearing about the topic previously and looking at the actual video was nothing close to what I had imagined. I was cognisant of the fact that there are persons who are hearing impaired in and among us but being privy to the fact that there exist an entire community was very much mindboggling. Mindboggling because of the fact that not much attention is being given to this community. Instead much focus is placed on persons attaining other languages whilst the language that is associated with the deaf community is overlooked. I was enthusiastic about the introduction of the new technology, the cochlear implant. It is really good to know that society is now looking at technological advancements that will aid in alleviating this seem to be growing defect. The togetherness that was shown in some instances was very touching however, it was sad to see though, the lack of support that was generated in relations to the newly developed technology. One area that stood out for me was the level of communication within the deaf community, from the youngest child to the oldest child knew and understood the sign language. It was just amazing. The impact was boundless. It made viewers see the importance of being appreciative of one’s culture. It highlighted numerous aspects; there exist a deaf community, there is new and growing technology available, the need for sign language to be a compulsory language, as well as, the togetherness, collaboration and bond that exist within the deaf community. Even though it was evident from the video that some persons within the deaf community were not appreciative of the new technology, the cochlear implant, it attempted to generate or spawn a level of awareness.
