down. This song reminds me of the first time I had a mental breakdown in high school. It was freshman year and I was stressed because I had to write an essay for honors english and it was my first time under that much pressure. I stayed up all night trying to perfect my essay. I cried and I made sure that I was giving it my all. To my surprise this was only the beginning of many mental breakdowns over school. 9. Party- Time of Our Lives by Pitbull and Ne-Yo I wouldn’t consider myself a party person, but this song makes just about anyone want to get up and dance. This song came out in 2015, which means it was one of the most played songs my freshman year. My parents have always been really strict on me, so I’ve actually never been to a high school party, only traditional family friendly ones. I took that over nothing so my friends and I would go to quinceaneras as often as we could. This was one of the first songs I danced to at a party and everytime I hear it, it brings back …show more content…
No matter where I go after high school, there are always going to be new obstacles and I’m ready to face them. This song reminds to keep dreaming and to reach all my goals no matter how difficult it may be. One particular line from the song that I really like is “there’s always going to be another mountain, I’m always going to want to make it move”. When I listen to it, it makes me feel like I can accomplish anything and that everything has a solution no matter how intimidating a problem seems to be. I look forward to my life after graduation and I have plans that I hope to follow and to be successful at. I’m very excited to finally be done, but it also makes me emotional to think that everyone is going to go their own way. Anywhere we go, the class of 2018 is going to do amazing things and I look forward to everyone’s future, especially
Anthem is a story of man’s struggle to be free and to fight the masses of conformity. It tells of human nature and the want to gain all the knowledge that one could possibly attain. Man loses his safe haven and his security when he lets this lust for knowledge overpower him and lets it be seen by others. He becomes vulnerable Like Johann Faust, Prometheus sells his life for wisdom. Unlike Faust, however, Prometheus is expelled from his society but gains his freedom of individuality and his freedom of knowledge and the ability to understand. In Anthem, Prometheus and Gaea sin against society to become singular and understanding much like Adam and Eve’s sin against God when they ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge to gain wisdom; as a result, they can be compared to each other by there desire for learning and by their damnation.
Hip-Hop: from the live performances to the lyrics this here brought up many thoughts in my head. I attended a concert on April 2016 and several other old school concerts at the Queen Mary, front row VIP area which included; Debbie deb, Cover girls, Vanilla ice and so on. Going to an old school/hip-hop concert the songs and experiences as a whole are different with every time. New school hip-hop is narrative and with this you can receive the same lyrical experience every time, as for the concert the experience is the same as the next. I am not saying that an old school concert isn’t different in its own way but I do think their not so far apart performance wise. Example going to a “Drake” concert is more narrative compared to an old school
How do poetic devices affect a song? In the song "It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas" there are many poetic devices that can be found throughout it. Poetic devices describe how in this case a song is formed. The three poetic devices that are included in this song are imagery, rhymes, and repetition. These three poetic devices are elements that make the song a stronger piece because of there definition.
STUDY GUIDE ----- The Anthem Chapter 1 1.a. What is the difference between a and a? The society that is represented in the novel is futuristic in terms of the actual date, yet incredibly underdeveloped to what we experience today. The political structure obviously works, because there doesn't seem to be much discontent among the citizens.
First of all, I feel that the lyrics to the song are slightly repetitive. Then, the song reaches a point where the singer exclaims the moment is magic. And this relates to my eighth grade year because of the unavoidable repetitive nature of school always gives way to something interesting. For example, at the beginning of the year I was expecting just another year at school, but I was quickly thrown into the lip sync, which was an unexpected event in my case. Then, after that my year quickly returned to the norm of the school year until we reached the next big intermission in the form of winter break, then spring break. But in all of these cases these reprieves were simply magic, as the song exclaims.
It is an upbeat, lively song; you hear it and want to dance. This is the atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties; everybody was partying and having a good time. Conveniently, it is also the atmosphere of Gatsby’s parties. Fergie keeps singing, “A little part never killed nobody, so we gon’ dance until we drop,” which is more or less the motto of the people attending Gatsby’s parties. They did not care about morals, they threw them out the window. All they cared about was partying and getting so drunk they passed out. They just wanted to have a good time and didn’t care about the consequences. The twenties were all about partying, getting liquor at speakeasies, and having a good time. Nobody was worried about what could happen, they were just worried about themselves. “They were careless people…they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made”(Fitzgerald
The Climb by Miley Cyrus is a song that I discovered when I first immigrated to Canada in 2009. Even though I did not know much about the meaning behind the song, I loved the melody and the rhythm. However, as I started understanding english and matured, I would listen to the song again and the lyrics would soothe me. To me, it is a extremely motivational song about the process of reaching your dreams and goals. The line “there’s a voice inside my head sayin, you’ll never reach it” resembles my fears and doubts that hold me back from reaching my goals. An example would be right before an important exam, where I begin to doubt myself. The next few lines continue to describe the situation that I can extremely relate to when I feel despair and
The song begins, "So we talked all night about the rest of our lives." This brings back the anxious feeling that I had throughout my body on the night of high school graduation.
No one is required to stand for something that they do not believe in. The United States of America flag symbolizes so much but due to our right of freedom no one technically has to stand for it. It’s not disrespectful to kneel for the flag because everyone is entitled to their own option, their freedom of speech, and the right to feel how they want about the flag and the United States.
From the first time I heard the song,I felt that it had a beautiful message to convey to people. The song conveys that as humans ,we all have demons within us which we are not proud of and we keep them hidden away from our loved ones. It tells us that it is common to have a demon within us, those demons can be jealousy ,anger, depression or something else.
It shows my fear of getting stuck in the same place/cycle for my life. I am scared to be someone who is unhappy because I am stuck in my daily motions, without the opportunity to appreciate the moment and relax. It shows my challenge of trying to get out of my comfort zone because I do not want to be trapped in the things that I do, I would like to have the courage to try new things from new food to traveling to different places. It is easy to stay in your comfort zone, but I feel like I won’t make any progress if I do not get out of my comfort zone and push
Underlying the theme of this song, I was able to draw various connections to my Freshman Year of high school. First of all, Freshman Year is a new beginning. Making the transition from middle school to high school is
She’s showing a lot of Expressed Emotions she spills all her emotions out in this song, the way she talks in the song is like she’s very angry. Overall the song does boost my ego a little bit every time I sing it aloud. In the “Others” category I’ve listened to the song called “How To Save A Life” by The Fray, my emotions of this song are melancholy, because it talks about how the singer couldn’t save his friend, and wants us to go and help somebody out there that is suffering. My emotion for this song was sad and it was my body’s initial response towards it by just reading the title and listening to
My senior year was a year that I wish that several events never happened because these events impacted my life in big waves. The biggest thing that happened that year was when a close friend of my committed suicide. Him and I were close friends, to the point that we called each other family. I still don’t know why he did it to this day. The song “Rise” has helped me understand that my life will get better. Yes, his death will be with me throughout my life but I need to push on and live my life to the fullest. I listened to the song on repeat until my mom told me to stop. This song had helped me push through that the tough times and a way to be “close” to him once
This is shown in the song Graduation by Vitamin C. Graduation is about the change of leaving high school and moving on to adulthood. It shows the many questions young people have about leaving school, and uncertainty of the future. At the same time, it shows the constant of friendship that people can rely on, when many other things in their life are changing.
