Fossil fuel is the primary energy resources that help to build man civilization in the past few centuries. In the 18th centuries, the industrial revolution had started and people start to use coal (type of fossil fuel) to run up the steam engine. This is the turning point of the history, where the manufacturing process transition from hand production to machine production. These were beginning of the era of technology todays. However, with 200 years uncontrollably use of fossil fuels, this energy resources become lesser and lesser and will eventually gone forever as fossil fuel takes billions of years to formed. Now it is the time to develop another type of energy resources to replace fossil fuels before it has gone.
Solar power is one of the renewable energy resources that was develops to replace the fossil fuel. It was one of the most convenient and clean energy resources that are available in the earth. The solar power operations involve the conversion of sun power to electric power with the use of photovoltaic cell. The whole process is clean and will not produce pollutant to environment. In 2011, the International Energy Agency encourages all countries to develop solar power technologies. They emphasis that the early development investment cost should not be cut down and the research should be shared among the countries as solar power technologies brings huge global long terms benefits toward mankind. Such an advantages include: increase the countries energy security as solar power is a free and inexhaustible resources that can be obtain from the sun, reduce the pollutant toward the environments, and decrease the energy dependent toward fossil fuels which will lower the price of fossil fuel. 1.3 Project Overflow
This project is basically separate into three stages: research stage, test and design stage and evaluation stage. First of all, all requirements were listed down and research was down to find the optimum solution.
After the optimum solution was chosen, the block diagram and schematic diagram was design. All the component parameter was calculated so to meet the requirement. The circuit was first tested in the breadboard to find out the imperfect design and problem. If there are no problem on the circuit, fabrication of the circuit on PCB was carried out. The gear and rack of the solar tracker is then design and fabricated out.
All the parts were then assembled together and test under the sun. Data was collected and performance of the product was analyses and evaluated. Figure 1 shows the flow chart for the entire process of the project.
