The Black Lives Matter Movement has caught the attention from people of all races nationwide. Many people believe it’s an aberration to spread awareness and attempt to decrease the direct, indirect, and/or lingering effects of police brutality and essentially the indiscriminant ignorance of the majority of the American population; including African Americans. Although this notion of specialized discrimination proves to hold true in many recent situations, it still begs the question of why shouldn’t ALL lives matter? Where does America draw the line between favoritism and fighting for an individual demographic that have had their right to life suppressed over and over? In the summer of 2015 the BLM publicly challenged many politicians, including politicians in the 2016 political election, to state their position on the recent black lives matter Issues. Originally Black lives matter used social media as an uplift to spread their beliefs and cause to millions of people rapidly. For the past few years BLM has been known to build power from their protesting. Attacking the issue at the source and fighting for a change. The BLM has held many protest, marches and rallies to help their cause. Many of their political slogans contribute, such as, "Black Lives Matter", "Hands up, don't shoot", "White silence is violence", "No justice, no peace", and "Is my son next?", among others. In 2014, the American Dialect Society made #BlackLivesMatter the word of the year. More than eleven hundred black professors supported BLM.
