An example from the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee would be when Atticus defended Tom Robinson, not the whole jury assumed Tom was guilty. We are making progress however we did elect the first african american President Barack Obama, evidently things did change. In a way we did not make any changes at all even though if you look at how many shootings and problems have arised and is creating more problems. There has been lots of problems regarding how we all act towards racism. For example a quote from Obama explains why we need to be that change that needs to happen. Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” What Obama is saying is that we are the change that we need we can't change without change if ourselves first. The case with Tom Robinson was in the old times but it still affects us today it give us a outlook on how we haven't change and the attitudes we have now. The quote by Obama relates to the topic sentence even though it's saying we need to help not repeat the past of what we did back then. All though some people may have a different point of view when it comes to race and color there is no reason for people to be treated as nothing. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird there are 3 main aspects about about inequality and those we have improved and haven't. Not everybody gets treated alike but that's the world we live in. On the other hand if we don't change, history might repeat itself. We have many people who want to change and get things to be better than there's people who are to stubborn to change their mindset.
