A law was recently passed that made it illegal to smoke in your car with a child. I believe this is a very good and healthy law that should be respected. When you smoke in a car with your kids or any child, you expose children to the greater risk of catching a very dangerous disease, such as cancer. This is why we should not smoke in a car in the presence of children. Children are considerably affected when an individual is smoking nearby and the risk increases if an individual smokes in a car. Smoking in a car is hazardous to anyone’s health since the room in a car is extremely limited and the negative impact of smoke increases considerably related to the location when a person smokes in the street or simply outdoors. Riding in the car can have negative consequences to our health since the traffic is now one of the major sources of CO2, which people inhale while driving a car. In this situation, children seem to have a double effect because of the traffic and the smoking in the car. Children are more vulnerable to the negative influence from the surrounding environment than adults because their immune system, as well as all other systems of human body, is not fully formed yet. enough to protect them from the harmful chemicals in the air from smoking cigarettes. Children are dependent on adults. If adults are smoking in a car, particularly if these adults are their parents, children are either unable or reluctant to make an adult stop smoking. Adults and other people in a child’s life are role models. Kids look up to adults and parents and judge what they see as right or wrong. When a child sees a parent smoke in the car regularly or any adult they view it as a natural and ok thing to do. They don’t know that smoking is harmful to their bodies all they see is a parent or any other adult smoking a cigarette and view it as something you do when you are older. Adults should be more responsible and not admit smoking in a car when children are in since it is particularly destructive for their health.
Furthermore, adults also create a positive attitude for children to smoke since they observe it as a normal habit because if they see other people smoking they believe that there is nothing wrong with smokers. Smoking in the car is far more dangerous than smoking outside or in an open space. This is why I believe that the law making it illegal to smoke in a car with a child is a good and healthy one. Because it protects kids from dying from cancer and from making the decision to smoke in their future
life.
Driving emits particle pollution, which increases the risk of heart disease, lung cancer and asthma. Particle pollution is processed in two ways, either mechanical or chemical.
...ecause their organ and muscles are partially developed when it is compared with the 18 years old smokers; earlier we start smoking the more we get affected.
Public smoking also affects children. “Reducing adult smoking may eliminate role models who lead children to light up” (Glaeser 2)....
My first reason why you should not smoke around children is because passive smoking on children exposes them to a range of respiratory illness including bronchitis, bronchiolitis, and pneumonia. Bronchitis is the term used to describe the inflammation of the bronchi in the lungs, bronchi is the main passage way to the lungs. People with bronchitis breathe less air and oxygen into their lungs. Acute bronchitis is usually caused by a virus...
...king is the main cause for shorter life expectancy for youths living in deprived areas. This is why stopping adults smoking first will help children. Children smoke more easily depending on their parent’s views on smoking.
Smoking is a risk taken by the smoker on their health, they should consider who else they are affecting. Relating this to alcohol, a person who has been drinking who gets behind the wheel of a car is endangering his or her own life and also the lives of anyone in his or her range of driving; any person smoking in public around non-smokers, both adult and children, are affecting the health of not only themselves but everyone around them. Non-smokers choose to live their lives healthy in the aspect of not consuming nicotine into their body, it doesn’t seem fair that other people should have the right to just endanger non-smoker’s health without any punishment. If a non-smoker were to die of a heart attack or another cardiovascular disease obtained from secondhand smoke, smokers aren’t going to get charged with murder like a drunk driver would for hitting a killing someone else. These issues, while rather different, are very much alike in these
A. Children model their parents' behavior as well as authority figures and relative when it comes to tobacco use (Journal of Public Health Mgmt and Practice). They will also listen to what authority figures say about smoking. During child development there are lessons that he child must learn or do ...
In recent years, smoking has started to take over the lives of many teenagers. The number of teenagers smoking has increased dramatically in the last several years. This is a major problem because smoking can lead to sickness and major diseases that can lead to death. Teens tend to participate in this while out of the presence of an adult figure. Although teens should not be smoking in the first place, an adult figure should be around to help insure that their children are doing the right things, even when they are behind sealed doors with their peers. Teenagers as they mature become a model for younger children and when they set the example of smoking can ruin their respectable image to the children that look up to them.
Physical activity is not the same as daily, routine activities, such as household chores. Women with gestational diabetes often need regular, moderate physical activity, such as walking, or swimming, to help control blood glucose levels. Physical activity improves your sensitivity to insulin (helps the bodies’ insulin to work better). Do not begin any new physical activity without talking to your midwife /doctor first. The specific amount of physical activity that you need depends on how active you were before you were pregnant, and whether or not you have any other health concerns.
One of the biggest problems that people are faced with on a day-to-day basis is cigarette smoke. The sole cause for 480,000 deaths each year just in the United States is accredit to cigarettes(CDC). For a lot of the smokers the habit of smoking happens to assist them when under stress and dealing with issues that are unmanageable. Some smoke to appeal to their peers or simply because it “feels good.” Smoking one cigarette can lead to a major addiction. The effects of smoking hurt oneself and those amongst us. Smoking Kills as the ad portrays this revolver and cigarettes as the bullets, and also lists the side effects of smoking. Cigarettes causes cancer, increases the risk of you getting a stroke, highly addictive and causes a lot of health problems. Nearly 16
Should allowing smoking in cars with children be illegal in all fifty states. I agree with this statement because it is so dangerous. Smoking in cars can cause second hand smoke which can be extremely hazardous to children and other people. “Exposing passengers, both children and adults, to secondhand smoke in the confined space of a car is extremely hazardous. Everyone should be encouraged not to smoke in vehicles.” I think that when people smoke in cars with children they are putting the children in danger because they are still growing and it can severely affect them. This should taken care of to prevent secondhand smoke. “Millions of children are exposed to secondhand smoke at home, which is a major hazard to their health, and reducing the level of exposure should be a priority.” I believe that this cause needs to be illegal because smoking in the confined spaces of a car increases the level of exposure and can seriously hurt the child.
A car, something we use in our everyday lives that we don't give much thought about. What if one day cars weren't there anymore? Would we care, would it be a big deal? Something we would never expect to happen has already happened in many places (Germany, Paris and Colombia). This transportation situation isn't an epidemic; its a resolution to many of the worlds problems.
But unfortunately I have no choice in most public patios. One says passive smoking but I want rather call it involuntary smoking .
Smoking cigarettes is a very deadly addiction that, unfortunately, 42.1 million adults in the United States and 6.4 million children have. The reason why so many people get addicted to cigarettes because of nicotine. Medicinenet.com says that nicotine is “Made by the tobacco plant or produced synthetically. Nicotine has powerful pharmacologic effects (including increased heart rate, heart stroke volume, and oxygen consumption by the heart muscle), as well as powerful psychodynamic effects (such as euphoria, increased alertness, and a sense of relaxation). Nicotine is also powerfully addictive.”
Scientists and health officials have been arguing the detrimental effects smoking has on our health for many years. Smoking can lead to serious complications including asthma, pancreas, lung and stomach cancer due to the large number of carcinogens (cancer causing chemicals) and other various substances added to it. It is a health hazard for both smokers and non-smokers and it is especially harmful to unborn babies. Although smokers claim that it helps them to relax and release stress, the negative aspects of the habit take over the positive. As it has been stressed by the scientists and experts, there are some very severe reasons of smoking but its crucial consequences should also be taken into consideration.
