“Bad smart” are devices that seek to limit what we can do and not expand it. These types of devices take away the free choices of humans. Thus, these technologies are limiting the human decision making and thought process. According to Morozov stated that "Technologies that are “bad smart,” by contrast, make certain choices and behavior impossible” (470). Following to his example that he used in the article, the insurance company will lower the insurance price if the driver agrees to install the sensor into their car to check their driving habits. Moreover, these technologies “fail to treat us as autonomous” by taking away our free acts. These gadgets as smart as these can decide for people in which wasted would recycling and which is not. This is taking away human free acts of the action to dumb trash away. People will lack of controlling themselves if they rely too much on the gadget.

Cell phones in hand, and laptops so small they fit in purses. Computers at our homes insure we can get on the internet and surf the web for answers for anything that may need to know. As the growth of technology has evolved the past twenty years we have become more dependent upon it for everyday things. From alarms, calendars, ‘googling’, counting our steps to make sure we stay healthy, connecting us to our friends and family; simple things that we often take for granted. Though our lives are often ruled by the various technology pieces out there to keep us ‘grounded during the day, some pieces of technology are not healthy for our bodies and minds.
While these devices may seem helpful now, given time, they will evolve into something akin to technology found in Ray Bradbury’s The Veldt. The story tells of the Hadley family who install a high-tech, “Happylife Home,” which, “...clothed and fed and rocked them to sleep and played and sang and was good to them.” While the family is mostly content with their home, one room in particular - the nursery - starts to worry the parents. Strange events surrounding the nursery start to occur, and one night, the father finds an old wallet of his in the nursery with blood, saliva, and chew marks on it. While normal people may call the police or leave their home immediately when faced with such an ominous sight, the Hadley family goes to bed like nothing happened. Their actions are certainly not normal, but perhaps their outlandish thinking, or lack thereof, is not their fault. The article, “Stop Relying on Your Smartphone to Think for You, Scientists Say,” describes a study conducted by psychologists where smartphone users were mentally tested. The psychologists concluded that, “People typically forgo effortful analytic thinking,” in exchange for quick answers a smartphone can provide. The fact that researchers are already seeing negative effects tied to smartphones is troubling - Just imagine the mentality people will have 50 years from
The famous physicist Albert Einstein once said: “I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.” In the article “Disruptions: More Connected, Yet More Alone”, Nick Bilton discusses the influence that smartphones have on our lives. His work is based on a video posted to YouTube by Charlotte DeGuzman. This video shows one day of the woman’s life that surrounded by people who are always connected to their phones. The author uses examples from DeGuzman to make us think about how we interact in the age of smartphones. Nowadays, many people believe that smartphone addiction is a problem while others think it is not. Electronic devices make our life very convenient, but also it is destroying human interaction. Smartphone addiction is an issue that deserves attention from every individual.
Nowadays, mobile phones have become one of the first (if not the first) needed technologies of the century. People lives are becoming more dependent of the usage of this device and the users have not being able to administer their time they dedicate to text and to talk. Years pass and people keep on depending more and more on this gadget to keep on living. It is really different from past times where people didn’t even have phones at their homes. Now everybody has gotten used to making these devices their only way of getting what they want or need at any time. Nevertheless, all of this is to be expected from the actual society because they were born in times where this technology has already taken the majority of the importance, so they are not used to using other options. Cellphones came to the world to never disappear. They hav...
Technology is very important tool for advancement of human life. We can utilize technology to help us in everyday life, but it can also do the opposite than what it is supposed to do. Laptops and phones have become a very important part of our lives in past decades. Now we can easily get hold of our loved ones and deliver important news within seconds and share our experiences with online social sites with family and friends. All these media tools are used to unite us with our world, but we are also being disconnected within ourselves.
The limitation of human contact due to the use of technology has had a negative affect on lives. People are constantly relying on technology without realizing that it leads to distracted driving, loss of jobs, and less attentive children. Everyday, innocent lives are taken due to fatal accidents involving the use of technology. Distracted driving is the number one reason why people should not focus completely on devices. Before technology had a huge affect on lives, people mainly focused on communication. It can be the easiest way to personally talk to someone, but technology provides shortcuts and saves more time throughout the day. The dependence of technology has led many to rely mainly on devices, leading to isolation from the real

The advancements in today’s cell phone technology is very complex and made to be efficient for their owners, allowing them to surf the net and IM message people instantly. Cellphones in particular have developed very fast in the past 15 years. From my childhood, cell phones have evolved from the old school Nokia bricks that allowed texts, calls, and simple graphic games, to todays I-Phones that have higher computable capabilities than some computers. In the United States alone, there is an estimated population of around 297 million people, and 197 million people are subscribed to cell phone companies (Starr). With so many people in today’s society with so much power and opportunity in the palm of their hands, we shouldn’t forget that “With great power comes great responsibility” –Voltaire.

A leading force is today’s technology driven world and that if the latest device is not in your possession then it is in sense a wrong doing. The standard 21 year old adults have exchanged 250 thousand emails, spent 5 thousand hours video gaming and 10 thousand hours using their mobile devices (Lei, 2009). When people hear the word technology, they think of microwaves, televisions, cars, NASA, different types and transportation and more. For all that, technology has occurred long ahead these discoveries. Technology is an arguable matter amongst people. .In the old days, people lived an extremely simple life without technology. They used candles to light their houses and lanterns at the dark to travel, they used fire to cook and used newspapers and mail to share news. On the other hand, technology has seized an important place in our society. People are living in a stage of progressive technology. They are using all natural reserves applicable for making their lives better and easier. The society cannot picture life without electricity since it allows them to live through their everyday life. This paper argues that technology positively impacts people’s lives.
Technology has, since the primitive years, always been used to invent tools in order to solve problems. This would, in turn, simplify and make man’s life easier. Through advancements in the field, man has become more efficient on both the macro- and microscopic level. Anything nowadays can be attained with either the flip of a switch or a click of a mouse. One particular technology that came about in this time was the smartphone. Since 2008, the smartphone, a device that combines a normal cell phone with a computer, typically offering Internet access, data storage, e-mail capability, etc. all in your hand was deemed as ground-breaking technology and created one of the largest and most competitive market in terms of technology to date. Their increased popularity continued to grow and today, it is very hard to encounter someone without a smartphone. These devices allow people to disconnect from reality and grant them access to the world as a whole. People use these devices to manage their daily routine, dictating what they should do and when they should do it. The capabilities of this device had been unheard of before their time. However, is there more to this technology than what has been made aware to their owners? We have become overly obsessed with these devices that it has impacted our humanity – our interaction with others and society. Since its upbringing, the invention of the smartphone has come to negatively reinvent the way people go about their daily lives because we have become detached from society, let these smartphones govern our lives, and have become obsessed with these devices.
By better understanding digital technology, we improve our control over such information. Consider the impact of digital technologies on your daily life. The cell phone is one of many digital devices that have drastically changed people’s lives in terms of connectivity and productivity. You probably use your phone throughout the day to communicate with friends and business associates, look up information on the Web, check your friends’ Facebook statuses, snap photos and post them online, send e-mails, plan your evening, play games, watch movies, and listen to music. Technology has transformed the world.
The world today is a result of centuries of evolution; one of the major adaptations is technology, specifically the invention of the smartphone. The smartphone is a cellular phone that has the capabilities of performing similar functions to that of a computer (Oxford Dictionaries’ online dictionary, n.d.). The smartphone is owned by youth for the most part; however, adults and seniors are also turning toward using this device. This in turn demonstrates the popularity of this marvelous device, and is the reason why it is constantly monitored by its users. The continuous evolving of the populations' wants and needs such as communication, searching of information, entertainment and recording, makes owning a smartphone essential, and beneficial as it is portable, reliable and efficient.
In conclusion, since technology is exceeding our humanity, humans have relied on technology for everyday use. Technology is also affecting our future generations with providing the ease of doing school assignments without using their knowledge. Also, toddlers today are professional in using electronic devices before they even pronounce a word. On the other hand, children also rely on the use of technology their entire life like a bad habit. In the end, technology lessens a person’s intelligence and thinking skills, because he/she depended on technology rather than figuring it out on their own.
