A point of synthesis is feudalism. Some colonists came over by the join stock companies, which a person was given a charter by the king to establish settlements to help bring wealth to Great Britain. Feudalism works in a similar way, the king owns the lands and people will work to gain wealth for the king. Both are a way to gain wealth for the king. The development over slavery grew slowly between 1607 and 1750. The main causes of an increased amount of slavery is because of indentured servants, cash crops, and religion.

A point of contextualization is that Jamestown was formed in 1607, originally they were sent to look for gold, but couldn’t find any. Between 1607 and 1610, there was starving time, by the end of it there was very few colonists left so they decided to leave. They were eventually picked up by De La Warr, who turned the colonies around and started to rebuild Jamestown. Later in 1619 the first Africans showed up in Jamestown for the first time in the colonies, and the slave trade had begun.

The purpose of this document is to show how plantation owners paid their debts to each other and show that they are trying to convert slaves to christianity, this is important to know because we know that slaves really are nothing to plantation owners besides money.
