“Simon Thorn and the Wolf’s den” written by Aimee Carter is about twelve years old peculiar Simon Thorn, who lived with his uncle Darryl after his father died and his mother dived in her works. He could understand and talk to animals, which made him a freak to others. His mother returned one day and afterwards, he overheard his mother and his uncle fighting when Felix, his secret pet, told them there were rats surrounding the house, about to attack. Although they fled immediately and secretly, they still encountered the rats, thus, Simon’s mother got captured. As Darryl stayed back to protect him, Simon ran away and was saved by Winter, who he met earlier and revealed to him he was an animalgam, an animal shape-shifter. Led by Winter, Simon came to the sky tower, where he met Orion, his maternal grandfather. …show more content…
When Orion refused to help them, they fled and found the way to the LAIR, a secret animalgam organization which was in the zoo that Simon’s uncle had forbidden him to go in.
Moreover, Simon found out he had another uncle named Malcolm, a twin brother named Nolan, a paternal grandmother, and many other secrets. Indispensably, he started to adjust to the life in the LAIR, which consisted of training and getting familiar with his twin brother hating and ignoring him. During a trip, he found out about the Beast King, who was his ancestor, and how dangerous the Predator, which was the Beast King’s weapon, would become when its powers were assembled. Thereafter, he was reunited with Darryl, who surprised his brother Malcolm since Malcolm thought Darryl was dead. Simon then met the Alpha, his strict paternal grandmother. Prior to their encounter, he saved Nolan from a polar bear and the tension between them soothed down. Simon found out his mother was imprisoned by the Alpha and the Alpha’s evil plot. In addition to his discovery, Darryl then was imprisoned as
well. After Simon failed to resolve with the Alpha, the LAIR got attacked by Orion’s men. Simon’s mother, Nolan, and Winter was captured while Darryl was injured. Alongside Darryl, Simon confronted Orion at the Sky Tower. He shifted into an eagle, resulting in him thinking he was Orion’s heir and Nolan, who later shifted into a wolf for the first time, was the Beast King’s heir. Refusing to follow Orion, they fought; consequently, Darryl was killed while Simon’s mother was still held captive. At the LAIR, they had a funeral for Darryl. Prior to that, the Alpha was dismissed of her position and had to leave the pack. Simon made friends in the LAIR and became closer to Nolan. He later returned to his apartment to clean up and gather his belongings. A few days later, Simon visited his uncle’s grave, mourning him. During that night, he shifted into a wolf, realizing he was also the Beast King’s heir. In my opinion, this story is about finding our true self and accepting our differences.

This was one of my favorite books during my childhood days. The book is a classic, and Disney later made it into a motion picture. the story’’s climax develops quickly by telling stories and adventures of a boy named Travis and his old stray yellow dog named Yeller. At the introduction of the book Travis is plowing corn in the garden when an old yellow darts bye and causes the mule to jump. He chases the dog out of the garden and curses at him. Then a few days later the stray dog ate some of the deer meat that was very important for the family’’s survival. Travis was very angered and threatened to kill the mischievious yellow dog, but his younger brother, Arliss, would not allow this.

In Francesca Lia Block’s Wolf, displays a young girl struggle to over come and admit to escape her abusive home life. Throughout time women have struggled to escape the gruesome home life that they have to go through. Whether that be from the struggles of rape of men throwing them self on to the women, or from an abusive relationship in that man beating them. Although Block story is about the little girl story of overcoming the abusive relationship the little girl believes in so much more than that. Within the passage in the Wolf where the little girl discusses how she is not a victim by nature which represents block’s fear of women being blamed for being in abusive relationship. Throughout all of the passages she displays this courage to face the man and to protect her mother from every thing that she has to go through.
Rex Walls, a dynamic character, in the Memoir The Glass Castle written by Jeannette Walls was portrayed as drunk, lazy, pride stricken man. At first Rex started of as a hard working man but later as reality kicked in he realized the glass castle was only a figment of his imagination and he started to go down the hill and became and alcoholic. The Glass Castle was used as a symbol which represented prosperity and a safe haven. Rex used this glass castle as a means of hope for a better life but as, “The hole for the Glass Castle’s foundation slowly filled with garbage,” all hope was lost for both Rex and his family (Walls 155). Due to this incident Rex started to drink more and more which later broke his family apart. Personally I think that Rex Walls was irresponsible

Authors who write creatively find themselves giving purpose for each word they place onto the page. Just as there is a purpose for each word, there is a purpose for each character, each plot twist, and each challenge faced. Lewis Nordan, author of the controversial novel, Wolf Whistle, creates a story about a story. His book is based on the well known murder of Emmett Till, along with the trial, but is not limited to the two events alone. Nordan bases the majority of the novel around the long list of major and minor characters. His purpose for centering the plot around more than just those involved in the murder and trial is to show how racism and violence create the atmosphere of the town. He also shows how those living in the Arrow Catcher

Victor, at first sight of the Creature, abandons and leaves him to survive on his own. This is insignificant to the creature at the time, but later causes the Creature to have bitter feelings towards Victor. After the Creature discovers Victor’s notes, he becomes enraged, and incriminates Victor for the victimization that he faces; hence accusing him as a perpetrator of cruelty. Through the accusation of Victor one can see that the Creature believes that Victor should be held responsible, and owes the Creature a favor. Additionally, Victor double-crosses the Creature after obliging to create a mate for the Creature. These actions of betrayal demonstrate how Victor is a perpetrator of cruelty and how the Creature is his victim. Victor’s unintentional cruelty reveals how he only wanted what was best for himself and human kind. Victor’s betrayal is seen as an action of cruelty by the Creature, and consequently delivers the final blow that instigates the retaliation of the
