I attended the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of art in Daytona beach. The first artwork I choose was the Seminole Man and the Everglades, done by James F. Hutchinson. It was also in the France Family Gallery.
The Everglades is a district of tropical wetlands that possesses the southern bit of Florida.
The colors that the artist uses can be quite different as each color conveys a separate impression. The light brown that he used on the face can convey sadness. The painting is created with mainly curves and lines which can mean that the man had strong physical features or that his different emotions were felt passionately as lines are usually seen as strong technical elements. The only curves that are being used are for his features. The eyes look quite down or depressive. This is due to the colors that James used and the shapes that he draws; not only these technical elements but also the images that the painter uses within the actual artwork. The painting relates to the entire male community. This community can understand the painting and know what James was trying to portray. Every man can understand and comprehend the message behind this painting as we all feel the same way at one point in our lives. I believe that this is a strong value in the painting. The weak value lies in the different colors that the painter chooses.
