Everyone has taken a person’s appearance and based their character that they think of them off of it. We all have misjudged people here or there off of a first glance. And of course majority of the time... yourrrrr...wrong. In Prince Caspian the author, C.S Lewis, writes about a fictional world where there are 2 brothers and 2 sisters, who are held at a high standard in a whole different world. By seeing how Reepicheep is portrayed in the story, I related it to my first impression of shelby. From the book i was able to see the similarities between Reepicheep and Shelby. Well here's the story. There was a new student at school and of course everyone comes up to tell me since you know...its a girl. The first noticeable
feature you can see and im pretty sure everyone else does to, is that she is very short just like Reepicheep. So i already assumed she had an attitude, becuase short people usually do. (DISCLAIMER: The opinions from then adn on are solely made by me thank you and enjoy.) And then not adding the fact she had this stank face on, like when you smell rotten milk. So I was like, “Ohhhh God another uptighty whitie”. But then she sat next to me in science and I found out she was kind of cool. But as i gradually got to know her i realized she was very loud and authorative similar to how Reepicheep was in the war. And she always has to be heard, but i think thats just a female thing. She always sticks with me like Reepicheep and Caspian. As previously statedi have misjudged people; and now of the people i critiqued harshly has now becoe my closest and bestfriend. In the future, I will take chances and keep the judgingto a minimal. Consequently we can all learn from me, nothing is wrong with jusging just dont keep that mentality.
The Arizona atmosphere was visibly different in both literal and nonliteral ways from Kentucky. Taylor’s lifestyle would have been drastically contrasting with how she thrived in her new home of Tucson. Apart from having a night and day experience at maternity, and getting a fresh start at life on her own, Taylor also met a new group of people who changed her in many ways. Lou Ann, who molded her into a better mother, Mattie, who helped her to overcome fears, Esperanza, though she spoke very little, managed to open Taylor’s eyes the horrors of a life she would never have to experience, and finally Turtle, who made Taylor realize what she loved most in life. Pittman, Kentucky did not have any of these individuals to teach the protagonist of this story.
The comparison between siblings has become a universal problem over the past several decades, as implied in Peg Kehret’s elementary monologue, I’m NOT My Brother; I’m Me. Through Jonathan, Kehret expresses the valuable message to never judge people based on the characteristics of their siblings. As the oldest child in my family, I support Kehret’s message and additionally believe that every individual is different and hence, should not be judged or compared with their siblings, family members or friends.
While in the original myth the sisters are all beautiful, Lewis chooses to make the main character, Orual, ugly and, in doing so, gives her an advantage. As a woman, she had much less power in that time, especially according to her father. He called
Society tends to misjudge people base on their appearances instead of their personality. As it’s shown on Cyrano de Bergerac story everyone misjudges people. Cyrano was ashamed of the way he looked, especially with his enormous nose that made him stand out. People didn’t care if Cyrano got his feelings hurt they thought he was a cruel person. Its bad when people tends to misjudge people without even knowing them but they just judge them by their looks instead of their personality. People shouldn’t be ashamed of the way they look and it shouldn’t stop them from accomplishing their goals and express their feelings towards the people they like.
When comparing the characters in the book to real people, it is not hard to see the similarities.
Tal explained in the article how her family suffered in their early ages and escaped some of their problems, but when they entered a new country they were introduced to new conflicts that they eventually resolved by giving up some of their valuable time and also by teaching themselves to run a business that they have passed onto their granddaughter as a privilege. The argument of this article states that society will judge you in anyway possible because of the privileges you have, but remembering what Tal included in her article saying “My appearance certainly doesn’t tell the whole story, and to assume that it does and that I should apologize for it is insulting. ”(Fortgang 2014:16). As stated in this quote, a person’s appearance will never tell you their story, you will judge them for how they look, but that way is not the correct way to judge anyone, the only way to judge a person is to not judge them at all, because every person has challenges they have to face to become who they are today.
influence all her life and struggles to accept her true identity. Through the story you can
People tend to base characteristics and personalities of people pretty quickly. Most people base their opinions on stereotypes. Reginald Rose and his play “12 Angry Men” demonstrate how people are quick to judge other people based on looks. In the movie all twelve jurors must decide if a young boy is guilty or innocent. At the beginning of the movie/play-write, only one juror, juror eight, decides the boy is innocent. Based on the evidence gathered from the case everyone agrees the boy is innocent except one man, juror three. He eventually breaks down and tells the truth. The viewers can tell that this movie/play is full of emotions. Each of these emotions can be described as something more than what comes to the eye.
In the first section of the book it starts off with a little girl named Tasha. Tasha is in the Fifth grade, and doesn’t really have many friends. It describes her dilemma with trying to fit in with all the other girls, and being “popular”, and trying to deal with a “Kid Snatcher”. The summer before school started she practiced at all the games the kid’s play, so she could be good, and be able to get them to like her. The girls at school are not very nice to her at all. Her struggle with being popular meets her up with Jashante, a held back Fifth ...
Characters in the story have a major impact on the theme of fantasy versus reality. The main character Connie, is a fifteen-year-old who exhibits the confusing, often superficial behavior typical of a teenage girl facing the difficult transition
The first coming-of-age aspect both girls have is an epiphany. After running away from home, Lily finds herself and her black housekeeper living
Throughout the ages, people have been deceived by appearances. Whether it is a first impression or a superficial relationship, the old adage to “not judge a book by it’s cover” is ageless. In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare captured that aspects of deceit by creating a few characters who seem to be innocent and trustworthy, but as the play proceeds, their heart’s wickedness surpasses the fake outward appearance. People should temper judgment. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s innocent appearance gives way to deceitful and evil desires.
In conclusion, the authors, Charles Dickens and William Shakespeare convey the idea of appearance vs. reality in the novel Great Expectations and Macbeth. The contrast between appearance and reality is expressed through crime. Pip, Estella, Miss.Havisham, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth and, the three witches are examples of characters that portray appearance vs. reality. Finally, both novels demonstrate appearance verse reality through ambition as well. Therefore, both novels demonstrate that “Fair is foul, and foul is fair”.
The biological differences that set apart the male and female gender throughout any culture remain eminent. Men are perceived as the stronger and dominant gender; women play the role of the weaker. In each culture the expectation of the manner in which men and women behave are influenced by the ideals and customs of that culture. In most predominant cultures, the man undertakes the role as a leader, and the woman devotes her life to the husband. Throughout history, traditions and literature provide a template to the identities of various cultures. Sleeping Beauty’s classic tale of a beautiful princess takes a central precept that previous patriarchal archetypes dominated during the 17th Century. The archetypal perceptions of women resulted from conscious and unconscious literature influenced by male-dominated perspectives and social standards.
Bonnie the secretary introduced me to my new teacher. As Mrs. Bonnie was leaving the room, my new teacher Mrs. Evaheart introduced me to the class. As I stared at the class I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. I wanted to go back to my old school where I had friends, knew almost everyone, a place where I didn’t feel lonesome, a place anywhere but here. As I saw each and every one of my new classmates faces the utter dread that I felt slowly began to fade as I saw a familiar face. Seeing one of my former friends give me a renewed hope that maybe being in this school won’t be so bad after
