According to an article of Forbes, “Most American are unhappy at work.” Why are most workers unfulfilled their satisfy of jobs? Working is like volunteer exchange. Companies pay salary to workers, and workers bring benefits and performances to companies. By this concept, many workers probably get a great deal of stress. Furthermore, today, average work hours per week is 47 hours. Workers spend 8 to 9 hours per day if it is assumed that workers work during the weekdays only. It seems people devote themselves to the works by giving up their personal time. However, they might not receive compensation as much as they invest their time on work. That is why most American are in dissatisfaction at their work. Therefore, workers should not spend their precious life to work for three significant reasons which are serious health problem, no personal life, and hard work with less reward. Their body and mind are always in works to earn income because they have a responsibility to support their family or for future life. Therefore, some workers would think having personal time is a bit of an extravagance, so they decide to give up having extracurricular activities and invest their time to work to be promoted and get a higher salary. For example, in my memory, my mother, Jongsoon Youn, was really a hard worker. She did not spend time with my brother, sister and me because she always came back home at midnight. Previous generations have a strong belief of keeping work and home life separate; that work is for work and home is for play (Rampell, 2011, para 21). Today’s professionals do not seem to abide by similar beliefs, constantly crossing the borders of one into the other. While many recognize this as an issue that could result in employees being less productive, it has actually resulted in them accepting that their work may run late into the evening or even into the weekend. I agree with this completely in that I grew up being taught that business is business and personal is personal; you leave your home life at the door. Americans have little to no time off each week. According to the article, “Overworked America: 12 Charts That Will Make Your Blood Boil”,some countries give workers 37-48 hours off each week. Other countries give workers 24-36 hours off each week.Americans in comparison have barely any hours off(Gilson).Even on the weekends , Americans find their lives consumed by work. A survey given to employed email users showed that 50% of them checked their work email on the weekends and 34% check work email while on vacation(Gilson).Americans cannot find a medium between their work lives and their personal lives.
Currently, human beings are thinking more on the line of they need work in order to make a living. For that reason, work has become meaningless, disagreeable, and unnatural. Many view work as a way to obtain money and not a meaningful human activity that one does for themselves. What happens when a worker is not being fulfilled in his or her perspective job? Everyone has had or will have a job. Whether he or she is a farmer, CEO, or burger flipper; regardless these are jobs. Additionally, throughout these jobs people have experiences, some good, and some bad. Some will hate their jobs and dread going to work when they wake up, while other will flourish at their jobs and gain a sense of fulfillment. Someone can come to hate a job because of a high workload, low salary, or long hours, while the love of a job comes from a sense of fulfillment by doing what he or she loves or having high salary and low workloads. In some cases, because employees are in the job for just the money and not personal gain they become dissatisfied more easily than someone who goes into a job looking for personal improvement or passion for the job.

Workaholics – people, who have a compulsive and unrelenting need to work (www.dictionary.com) – appear more and more among the working people of United States and other developed countries. At first glance, workaholics do not seem to be such a problem for industry and society as a whole. But in spite of all devotion to their work the workaholic will not be as valuable as a normal worker. Workaholics do not think about anything else except work that can cause severe health problems and can cause problems on their work. All that causes a reduction of economic profit for the company.
The learning environment and practice placement I currently work in is a substance misuse service. The clinical learning environment is where students work directly with patients whilst enabling them to and are able to conductively learn. Burns and Patterson (2005) state it is the responsibility of higher education institutes in partnership with the NHS to prepare nurses to cope with the complex nature of clinical practice. In my opinion I believe mentors play a significant role in relation to the clinical learning environment, as mentors are who support the student during their placement. Students learn most effectively in the environments that facilitate learning by encouraging and supporting whilst also making them feel part of the team

Based off of the gratification an individual contains towards their work, job satisfaction is a key. The productivity could either be positive or negative, while the relationship between the productivity and satisfaction may not be consistent. There are multiple internal and external factors in job satisfaction that can impact the behavior of an employee and engagement over time. The way the worker’s attitude concerning their field affects the performance they perform on a daily basis. One who is satisfied with the job they do, succeeds at what they do.
In every work place you will find employees who are happy with what they do and employees who are just there to complain and collect a paycheck. My topic for this discussion will cover job dissatisfaction.
There are two kinds of people in the work force. There are laborers and there are workers. The difference between these two types of people is that a worker enjoys his or her job while a laborer does not. To the laborer, his or her life is almost equivalent to a wage slave. For those laborers, there only escape is leisure time. This is essentially the opposite of their lives, a time where there is freedom and compulsion. To the worker, leisure time consist of enough rest so that they can do their jobs effectively. In the two ways that these two types of people enjoy their free time, how do we know which person spends their time better? I believe that a worker often spends his of her leisure time more productively than a laborer does.
