Should Women be Allowed to Fight in Combat?
People tend to associate action orientated jobs with men. Yet women, can do all the same jobs that men can. But women can not serve in the military. If women can do all the same things that men can, they should also be able to serve in the military. Women should be able to serve their country proudly. Women have always been less equal to men. Women were not allowed to work. Women were not allowed to go to school. They could not vote either. Women were less powerful than men. But today, a woman can nearly do anything a man can. President Barack Obama issued this statement welcoming the decision, "Today every American can be proud that our military will grow even stronger, with our mothers, wives, sisters and daughters playing a greater role in protecting this country we love.”
Pressure in allowing women to serve in combat positions has been building up over the past couple years in America . In November 2012, four female soldiers stated that they were going to sue the Department of Defense with the assistance from the American Civil Liberties Union, over its restrictions on women serving in frontline warfare.
Women are now able to fight for the country they take pride in. They have been restricted of many rights in the past but the world is changing and so are our beliefs. Allowing women to fight in the military is a big step for America. It is great that America is expanding on women’s rights and as will our
