Not all promises are kept and never broken. The Emancipation Proclamation broke a promise to equality throughout all races, but the blacks were never treated equally. People should not have to demand freedom because all people are born free. Currently we as a United States of America must keep the States and the people in America united forever. However, There are a few mistakes during this long period of time, so this promissory note was broken. Also, freedom should be given for many reasons. Freedom should be given because it is a right that every man and woman should have, the topic that will first be discussed why freedom should be a given right.The Emancipation Proclamation is the document that freed the slaves. Martin Luther King Jr. referred to this document as “ a great beacon light of hope to millions of negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice”. Mr. King also stated “it came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity”. Just the thought of being born free is enough to explain why freedom should be given and not demanded. In the text “ Nobody Turn Me Around” the author, Charles Euchner uses MLK’s I Have A Dream speech and explains the key point Mr. King says including this one that caught my attention “ now it is time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children”. Martin takes verses from the bible in order to support his thoughts, so God says that none of his children are born in captivity or in this case slavery.
