Should furthering our education be free? To a certain extent? What would be the benefits? In the United States, the average cost for someone to attend college per year is about $9,139. That is just the price of tuition. Now if you are going away to college there is also another for housing and meals. This can cost just as much or more as your tuition does, coming in at about $9,804(“What's the Price Tag for a College Education?"). For many middle class and lower class people, they cannot afford to pay this much for an education. The higher education should be free for our United Sates citizens. This cost also presents an equality issue. With our higher education being free or the minimal cost as much as possible would benefit almost all. The middle class would not have to worry about spending their hard earned money and the best of all, the students in the lower class column would be able to attend. With the lower class being able to attend a university, it would help them further their education. The furthering to their education lead to getting degrees and good paying jobs once they graduate. When they have a good paying job they can afford to have a better life and not have to live in poverty. There can also cause an economical change. If we were to offer free college the lower/poverty class could higher their ability to get out of this. With them being able to have a good paying job there would be less lower class and more in the middle class area. This would help the economic debt of the country by the students having reduced college debt post-graduation (“Free College Would Pack Economic Punch: Our View”). With them having a job they would be able to pay off their debts easier and or not have any debt at all and be able to live a better
