Are footballers getting paid too much?
I ask you, are footballers getting paid too much?
Footballers are overpaid. Footballers should not get paid 2 million a week for kicking a ball. Football is waste of talent, it a waste of time. 22 players running round half naked and kicking a ball? Plus they are getting paid. What has the world gone to? This is what some people think.
The question is what will happen if football player’s salaries get decreased? Let’s thinks about it. We all know that rich people want to stay rich. So if rich people didn't invest in football players and gave them £10,000 instead of £70,000. There would be no one willing to give to charity or start a foundation because in the UK looking after your household is not cheap. So they will not give charity due to their low salary. If they were to live in a normal street flat or house, it would be very dangerous because people who watch football might not like him, so they might damage it.
Moving on, 43 clubs in France threatened to go strike because of the “million tax.” So if a French footballer earns more than a million pounds they have to pay 75% of the amount which is over a million pounds to the government. A survey was taken by the Tilder-LCI-Opinion and 85% of the people were in favor of this law while 15% of the people said it was

A lot of people watch their sports at home and Sky Sports/BT Sport which usually cost £9.99 so they can watch sports, do you not think that they should get paid for entertaining you? You pay for watching movies/TV shows. Celebrities get paid a large amount of money just by being in a movie/TV show or even a TV commercial. Dwayne the Rock Johnson’s net worth is $125 million whereas, Sergio Agüero’s one of the best Barclays Premier League strikers at this moment net worth is $70 million. If Dwayne gets paid a large amount of money to entertain you, do you not think Sergio Agüero should earn the same
“Fans pay to watch athletes compete at the highest level. To be sure, it is the fans that primarily pay the athletes’ salaries” (Walter). Yes, a large portion of an athlete’s pay comes from the people that come to watch them. Athletes get a portion of all revenue their team or staff receives. This means that everybody gets a cut of that prize money, everybody gets a cut of ...
I have decided to write a response paper to Ekow N. Yankah’s: “Why N.C.A.A. Athletes Shouldn’t Be Paid”. Although I enjoyed reading his perspective, I do not agree with his statement which addresses that student-athletes shouldn 't get paid. Universities are using their student-athlete’s popularity to promote their athletics program while the student-athletes are unable to promote their own image. Student-athletes work hard day in and day out, basically like having a full time job. Which makes time is also very limited during the day for student athletes to get a real job to pay for the extra expenses that they need. Also, most of the time coaches will not allow the student athletes to work, because of their conflicting schedules with practice.
College football has been a sport in American society for decades. Yet the players playing the sport are not receiving their fair cut of the prize. It has been debated whether or not college football players should get paid for playing. The supporters say that the players are not being compensated fairly and the non-supporters say that the education the players receive is payment enough. They also say that the universities the players attend are providing them with the basic necessities so they should not get paid. College football players should be paid though because they put their bodies at risk, make a lot of money for their school, and the play to entertain audiences.
Americans always seem to be working to make more money, however, is it worth it? Athletes sacrifice time and their physical bodies to make money. Celebrities sacrifice their privacy and personal space to make money. CEOs sacrifice time and risk financial security to make money. The common belief is that these are the three highest paid categories in the United States. However this is not the case since not all athletes are sponsored by Nike, not all celebrities are in large movies and tv shows, and not all CEOs work at a publicly traded company. The reality is that most of America still works hard and just because athletes, celebrities, and CEOs work nontraditional jobs does not mean their pay is significantly greater.
64% of Americans think college football players should get paid. More than half of Americans think that college football players should get paid. They think they should because they work hard and they are on TV. students have to pay to go to school so they are already paying to play and should get something in return. College football players that are not getting paid should get some money.
College sports have grown over the years, earning billions of revenue every year. However, what may seem surprising is that the athletes involved do not get a single penny earned from the revenue. These college sports require tremendous time and determination due to long hard practices along with rigorous course works. And due to the lack of time, athletes don’t often have the time for part time jobs that allow them to earn money to buy things they need or want for their personal life. Therefore, college athletes have every right to be paid for their hard work.
Do you think professional athletes are overpaid? You might think they earn more than what they are worth for playing half a year, but athletes have many things which contribute to their salary. Some of these things include their earnings from endorsements, ticket sales, performance, merchandise, their social contributions, and TV ratings. Although there are many factors that contribute to their salary, professional athletes may be overpaid because as a society, we contribute to their success. So, in the end, part of the athlete’s salary comes from the people who support the sports in the first place.
Should college athletes be paid? That’s the million dollar question. Throughout the past decade more and more people are complaining about college athletes not getting paid. This has become a major issue in the NCAA and around the country. Now, because of all the complaining, college athletes are close to getting paid. This has been debated and fought over through recent years. The NCAA president doesn’t like the idea of this either. Taking away athletes' amateur status would be the "end of college sports as we know it," says NCAA president Mark Emmert. College athletes should be grateful for the ability to play college sports, instead of worrying about money. Many people have different opinions about the issue and recently, it has been proposed
Athletes at the college level should be paid a salary for their athletic performance based on the amount of time college athletes dedicate to sporting activities, the revenue of the NCAA overall and their employed coaches, and the fact that paying the athletes would increase the competitivity level of the players. Giving the athletes a salary besides the cost of tuition to the university or college they attend would greatly aid the students.
Did you know that 10% of all College Football Players sustain brain injury and an average of 20,718 football players are getting hurt each year from different things like broken bones, torn muscles, and concussions. College Football Players should get paid because not only do they have to train for it, they are basically working and giving their money to the coaches and the school that they play for. Also, they hardly can make money because they have lots of homework or have to be on the field for practice so unless they have scholarships which might not last them their whole time in college, so they are going to be in debt when they come out of college if they don't have a career in the NFL.
As entertainers, athletes are paid for fan satisfaction. The more fans that want to see an athlete perform, the more the athlete is paid. In fact, most athletes, even those who make millions of dollars for each flubbed fly ball, dropped pass, and missed free throw, feel they probably deserve even higher salaries; the reason being that they’re still in demand. While certain athletes may never bring a championship ring to their team, or even bring home a winning season, those athletes will always pack the stands. Fans in the stands translate into ticket sales. Ticket sales can potentially lead to national television broadcasts. Inevitably, the formula of ticket sales plus national television broadcasts leads to massive revenue, and this is how owners and organizations can afford to pay players like Michael Jordan $25 Million for his retiring season alone. However, how does society (as a whole) benefit from these over-inflated salaries? In short, it doesn’t.
When addressing the value of entertainment, there is without a doubt, that we as a society value entertainment highly. But there is no reason that these athletes, who are here to merely entertain us, get paid higher wages than those that save our lives and teach us such as medical doctors and teachers. I find it ridiculous that players make millions of dollars a year, and yet demand more. The entertainment that these athletes provide is solely entertainment; it is not essential to the function or productivity of society. If I were to become a professional football player I would not complain about my salary for many reasons. I am playing the sport that I love and getting paid for it. The minimum wage for football is well over $100,000 a year, as is for many professional sports. These reasons by their lonesome are enough to warrant that the salary professional athletes are paid is suffice.
Many players have risen to stardom by becoming a professional athlete. Athletes have come from many different backgrounds; some from wealthy and some from poverty raised backgrounds. Salaries are continuing to rise, and money doesn’t seem to be an issue. Athletes are getting what they want from the owners by negotiating through their agents. Athletes’ salaries aren’t from their owners, but they come from other sources (“Athletes’ Salary”). Athletes get paid an extremely high salary for the work they do, and should consider the value of their work. They do not deserve the extreme amount they get paid and something should by done about it.
Money is what makes the world go round and is what this whole issue is about. The people who don 't agree that Professional athletes get paid too much do have some valid points. But, they are no where near
Finally, I feel that movie stars and major league athletes are always getting the bad end of the stick when it comes to how much money they make, despite the fact that people of importance, like doctors and even the president of the United States, don’t make as much as the stars do. Now everyone in life has a choice to be what they want to be in life, many people should research the criteria and salaries before they get mad that a certain person is making more money than another. And don’t forget that its society that is really funding them as an entertainer and actors have taken years to get where they are today. And even though stars are portrayed as greedy, they are often known for their philanthropic sprit.
