The introduction of Reading Fiction introduces concepts in which a story has fictional characters but may have settings or plots that highlight about real life stories or actual events in history (Schakel & Ridl. pg 108. 2017). Whereas, another type of fiction can be short stories that reveal or emphasize about an important life lesson or social issues (Schakel & Ridl. pg 108. 2017). Short stories may not generally always revolve about a character’s development but instead prioritizes on the development of the story. The author prioritizes on the heme to convey the message to reader. Two example of written fiction stories are The Tell-Tale Heart and Momento Mori, which would also be analyzed. The overall message of the short story is death. The author bought a human Skeleton for her partner, but there was something daunting about the skeleton that kept bothering the author. It kept reminding her of death, it kept telling her that she will die. Death is something that we cannot escape from, it is just inevitable. But what strikes the fear of death is just thinking about previous decisions that we committed that are too late to repentance. We never know when the day of our death may come and because of that we fear that it would be too late to ask for forgiveness or pain from not fully accomplishing our dreams. For instance, just like in the story in which the brother regrets not giving back the five-thousand dollars (Sedaris, 2017). However, today I just got tired of my everyday routine. I just felt exhausted, everyday was just the same thing. It was just either waking up to go to school or work. So I decided to give myself a little break, I guess, go on a little “adventure”. The cool and chill weather of fall were coming to an end, with sweater season being replaced by big fluffy hats and thick jackets. This made it hard to choose what to do for my “little” adventure. So instead I sent a snapchat to a close friend and asked her if she wanted to hangout. It was her day off so she agreed to hangout. Thus, we decided to meet right after my shift and to to Georgetown to eat some good ol’ Johnny Rockets
