It was a beautiful spring day as Jonbenet and her brother, Burke, raced around the yard playing tag together. “Jonbenet…?” Patsy, Jonbenet's mother, hollered from inside. “You’re going over your pageant routines, right?” “Uhh, yes of course!” Jonbenet replied, in a not very convincing tone. “Oh great, because you know what next weekend is....the big pageant!” Jonbenet decided that even though she did not feel like going over and practicing her routines, she knew she should because the competition would not exactly be easy. The pageants get so intense, you have to be very precise to get a high score. Also, Jonbenet did not want a repeat from a few weeks ago, because what happened at her last pageant could have been really bad. As Jonbenet and Burke …show more content…
“Well what happened last pageant? Were you just not prepared enough?” Averie asked, very confused and interested at the same time. “It is a very long story, but I’d rather tell you it than work on my routine!” Jonbenet said to Averie as she started her way towards her backyard to sit down and really listen in on the story. “So a few weeks ago, the pageant was going well all day, until the final round. That was when it got juicy and very competitive. The girl I was going up against, was so determined to win, and I guess did not trust her own talent to get her the gold, she had to resort to cheating. Her cheating did not mean just trying to bribe the judges, it meant trying to poison me, to where I wouldn’t be able to compete.” “Nuh uh!” Averie gasped in shock. “I can not believe someone would try to do that.” “I couldn’t either! Plus the even crazier thing is, her mom was okay with it and tried to help her. Thankfully, Burke overheard Shirley and her mother planning everything and he got stop to it.” Jonbenet
things got out of hand and in a quick fit of rage Burke killed JonBenet. He hit her in the
Explaining the many issues with pageants. There is two studies that explain all the developmental and emotional problems these girls can experience while growing up. In division four it goes back over to Eden Wood. Her agent talks about the money that can be made and how many girls she is an agent for. It continues with talking about a possible tour for Eden Wood and how her mother is comparing her daughter’s career to a fairy tale. Hollandsworth concludes the article focusing on a pageant itself and focuses not only on Eden Wood, but a little girl known as Mia Spargo who has a chance to beat the famous Eden Wood. It explains the pageant in detail and drags it to a close with the three finalist standing on stage, Mia Spargo, Eden Wood, and Alex Howe an older girl from another division. They announce Alex is the supreme winner over the whole group, Eden cries in disbelief before leaving the stage only to be followed and comforted by her mother. (Hollandsworth,
Janine: First off, what is with these young adults running around in the most absurd costumes? Have they no respect for themselves or others. Those girls, aren’t they cold in those skimpy dresses, “women adorn
Throughout JonBenet’s short life, she dealt with abuse from both her parents and her older brother. Family friend and former photographer Judith Phillips has gone on record sharing personal stories about the Ramsey family. She has confirmed that as a child Burke was very temperamental and often fought with JonBenet. A year prior to her murder, Burke had become upset with JonBenet and swung a golf club at his sister’s face leaving a scar on her cheek. Phillips also revealed in an interview that Patsy was an image obsessed mother who frequently got in arguments with JonBenet over bedwetting incidents and her appearance. In an email response to Laurence L. Smith’s book, The Last Christmas of JonBenet Ramsey, Phillips shares a story Patsy told
As Ben proceeded to do his warm-ups, he thought about that basketball game he had with his father back at the old house, and how he tried to cheat after he had beaten him by 1 point. Once Ben finished his warm-ups and layup drills, coach discussed with his team about their first game, and how they were one of the best team in the country. Coach told his team who will be starting for tomorrow’s game, and Bens name was called out. Once basketball practice was over, Ben went back home and told Lillian how he will be starting for tomorrow’s game. Lillian was very happy for Ben and told him that the whole family will be there to support him at tomorrow's game. Mary Anne came home from school and told her mom, “I hate my new school, and no one likes me.” Lillian told Mary Anne how it’s only the second day and how she just needs to give a little time. Ben asked Matt, “You made any new friends recently?” Matt replied, “No, not at the moment.” As Lillian was cooking dinner, Ben kept telling his mom how nervous and anxious he is for tomorrow's game. Lillian told Ben, “Listen Sugah, you are one of the best on your team and there is no need for you to be nervous about that game tomorrow, you are going to kick their butt”. Ben shrugged, finished his dinner and went to
“I want to you to look to your right,” he instructed his class, and thrust his arm in my direction. I flushed bright red. “I want you to look at her. Everyone here saw her at testing, and everyone here saw her fail. It is always hard to fail a testing, but to have the guts and the courage to come and watch everyone who passed when she didn’t, that is impressive. That is true black belt character. I hope everyone comes to watch and cheer for her at the next testing.”
“All runners to the start line!” The race AR had called out. I looked at my shoes as I approached the broad white line. My black Lunarglides were laced with white laces, the lydiard style of lacing almost hid them. The other girls beside me walked along, putting their hair up and strapping their watches onto their wrists. All but two regarded me curiously, like a kid learning that Santa Claus isn’t real. As the other girls continued to look at me while they put everything on, I simply spoke, “I don’t put my hair up when I run.” Kaylee Galvan from Munster squeaked “She doesn’t even use a watch.” Her tiny voice trembled. The other girls looked bewildered, but their looks soon vanished as we came about to the line. North Newton’s very own Ivy Allen had looked me up and down and smiled, her eyes glowed at the thought that we could finally run together again.
“I... I don’t know.” Cerea said since she marked the quest without reading the details. She opened the scroll.
Back to my friend. Let’s just say prior to pageants, she was not in the best place in her life. In the most contradictory way, she felt more of society’s pressure to be perfect before pageants than she does now as a two-time title holder.
It was hard to ignore the death glare Helen had shot her way after realizing a certain color of green was shining through a translucent white. Olivia mentally smacked herself for not taking into account the fact that the woman had on white clothing before she resorted to using water—if there was a good way to make friends with someone, dousing them in liquid and exposing their bra to the world was not one of them. Instead, she focused her attention on the owl on the board, the violent display of the number zero being shredded into white bits by the owl a fine, but horrifying distraction. The crumpled remains of zero lay in unrecognizable chunks, white lines of blood trickling down the board as the owl’s talon crudely sliced a ‘one’ atop the
“U-u-um” she shook her head “So- wait. What. What just happened? I demand an explanation!”
“‘If she’s going to win, we need a plan.’ Her smile was diabolical, and I grinned with her. I’d never met anyone as organized as these girls. If I had them, there was no way I could lose.
“Yeah, and it wasn’t me. There’s nothing for me to even make that loud of a sound in here, even by accident.” Josh noticed that she got defensive quickly. He didn’t know her, but by the way that she had tensed up, he assumed that she wasn’t always like that. Josh was also inclined to believe her, but there was no one else around, which Emily played on.
“I don’t know. I just woke up and I was dead. I didn’t really see it coming or anything. It just happened.”
Her eye brows lowered and a bored expression reached her face even though he couldn't see her, “No Sir I don't, so tell me what I apparently did today.”
