shadowing experience at Doherty, Duggan and Rousse Insurers was on Wednesday March 20, 2005. At the beginning of the experience there was eight o’clock devotion about the different kinds of “wants”, we as human beings in a society of wants not needs. I met an array of assistants, accountants and different sales representatives.
I met Charlotte Easterling the “central hub”, the administrative assistant of the entire firm. Regina King, the accounting manager she works on the payroll, which she outsources, pays bills and payables. Laura Coutu, the accounting and system administrator she books for computers the firm uses and she is the day to day computer tech and support. I met Melinda Duggan a sales associate with commercial selling. She oversees the account of Southern Ad trucking company,
At nine fifteen there was a sales meeting, sales associates meet to discuss sales calls and sales revenue. Associates talk about different venues to sell to, states commission and also talk about different companies and corporation they sell to or try to sell to. Each sales associate spends about three to four minutes each discussing sales about previous week, commissions ranging from $40.00 to $8000.00.
At twelve fifteen the firm have their quarterly meeting called WE Incorporated, the meeting starts out with birthdays and work anniversaries. The accounting manager states TARGETS for each individual department. The different departments state commissions and other new accounts. The different departments vary as such: Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, Claims, Accountant, Administrative, Procedures, Rewards and Recognition and Events.
They have a Profile section which sales executives talk about biggest sales of a particular departments and the firms accolades, this week was Fred Taylor Trucking Company, Southern AD carriers who have been with the firm since they had 5 trucks and 17 trailers, they now have 327 trucks and 239 trailers, lastly the firm mentioned Water, Gas and Light Commission which is their largest account.
Sales reps salary in the first year is 70,000 and commission is capped until, they exceed the sales revenue in $70,000. Anything over $70,000 in sales Reps will receive 10 % commission on all sales life, disability, and Long-term care. The reasoning behind the $70,000 salary is Dan Price the CEO of Gravity payments decided to pay all of his employees $70,000 based on a 2010 Princeton study that basically says if you make less than $70,000 there will be compromises in your life that will effect your work productivity and positivity almost every single day (Weise, 2015, para. 12). $70,000 is a healthy amount of income for these reps, but it is also their sales quota as well. To reach that quota reps will be working long hours from 7am to 5pm or later based on
A deal with these sales representatives seems like a good idea, they’re experienced and have most likely been doing this for a while. But not only is it illegal, it is strongly against my better judgment. This case is greatly related “value judgment”. It clearly demonstrates an unethical value judgement for me to participate in this deal. It is highly illegal, and wrong for me to steal from my
Incidences that occur in one's childhood tend to affect them possibly for the rest of the rest of their life. This applies to the novel Fifth Business and the characters Dunstan Ramsey and Boy Staunton. Throughout the lives of these characters Dunstan lives in the shadow of Boy due to feelings of guilt and responsibility as a result of one winter evening in the town of Deptford.
As the salespeople’s immediate supervisor, it is the primary responsibility of the manager to provide proper training to enhance the salespersons’ effectiveness and improve their skills. Given the importance of having a productive and enthusiastic sales team, the manager needs to develop and manage effective reward and compensation packages to ensure a highly motivated and satisfied sales force. Sales managers also ensure that the company 's standards of professionalism, image, and branding are consistent with the sales team’s interaction with company customers. The manager 's presence also makes customers feel valued as well as provide credibility on behalf of the company (Pilling, Donthu, & Henson,

I selected to job shadow my mom actually because I couldn’t find anyone to shadow in the career that I wanted, so my only other choice was to do my mom. I wasn’t really too interested in doing that job at first, but that’s what I needed to do. I spent my day watching and helping my mom checking out stock systems and how it works. I was also able to use the office equipment. I wore nice black pants with a nice sweater. We left the building for lunch, and went somewhere else to eat, like my mom does a lot of the time. During the interview, I asked her the questions, and she answered, explaining as she went along, and I was not able to catch it all. So I learned a whole lot about the job by doing the interview. I left at about 2:00 to 3:00 (I am not too sure exactly when) because my mom had some important work she needed to do, that I really couldn’t help with. My favorite experience that day was actually finding out how stocks work, saving money, and information like that.

On the day I shadowed, I had to wake up at 4:30 in the morning to meet with the women I was shadowing. We got to UPMC Shadyside in about 1 hour and 30 minutes due to all the delays and traffic. As soon as we got to the hospital, we parked in the dedicated parking garage and then headed off into work. We took the elevator and many hallways to get to the particular wing of the hospital, the ICU. The intensive care unit is a part in the hospital where patients that are critically ill reside in. It can be temporary or permanent. Whenever we first got to the ICU, we went into the break room, and we put all our belongings in a locker. Jana, the women I shadowed, then checked in by using her card in this electronic swipe system. We then had to meet with the nurses working the night shift to get updates on the patients we would be taking care of that day. In the intensive care unit, nurses are usually given two patients to watch over for their whole
Regions are divided into branches and sales teams covering specific customer industries and sectors. Martha Pauley, a Branch Manager, manages multiple sales teams in the Northeast Region. Previously branches sold all products in a specific city/area; branches are now tasked with selling one product group over a much larger geographic area (Dynacorp Revisited, 2005: M-2, 86). The newly appointed district sales manager, Larry Barr, faces the problem of allocating sales quotas among his various sales representatives. This decision will affect everyone's earnings including his own. This problem is compounded by the fact that different territories have, for a variety of reasons, different potentials. In addition, the territory that is known to be the toughest will soon require a new sales rep.
More than just a sale promotion strategy Lisa and her team have built lasting relationships
