Males often look at women like the worker of the house. The one who does the cooking, cleaning, and ¨running¨ the household. Women are expected to be many things when they are looked to society as nothings. From a woman’s point of view, a woman is a person who is powerful, someone who does not need a personal assistant for she is her own. According to the Dictionary a women is ¨An adult human female¨, and that is who woman are. Our society has twisted the meaning of being a woman and setting ideals that a woman should follow, to become the perfect woman. For women are to conform to society and follow the sole purpose of life, but should women follow these ¨ideals¨.
Women are expected to follow the ideals of society and what is expected and set up for them. Viewpoints of the ideals are different depending on the women. Although the ideals are viewed as natural, they are choices. People follow other people’s patterns, one does not have to follow the patterns but it is one’s choice to. Being a wife or a mother or both is hard work, especially with the ideals that society sets before them. In the satirical article I Want a Wife written by Judy Brady, Brady portrays the thoughts of man about the perfect wife and mother. Throughout out the piece there are examples of real life couples in our minnial society wanting certain characteristics of a wife. A wife is expected to do many things based around her children including, ¨When I am through with school and have a job, I want my wife to quit working and reamian at home so that my wife can more fully and completely take care of my wife’s duties¨ (Brady 505).
