In honoring and remembering the past, we faced horrible challenges that humans made throughout history that we used for different types of literature today. Short stories get straight to the point and doesn't exaggerate the story. They give real life accounts to try and get the reader's experience what someone might have gone through in a quick period of time. In “The Ball” by Hans Peter Richter, the short story of a jewish boy playing with a christian boy, when he gets blamed because he broke a window but the christian boy stood up for him and said it was his fault so the jewish boy wouldn’t get yelled at. The cops immediately blamed the kid for breaking the window just because he realized he was jewish. The story gets straight to the point …show more content…
Next, Biographies help realize the actual struggles from a first person account from the time in history. Most literature used different sources that might not be credible, but biographies give you an idea of what actually happened and what they had to go through. In “Serving Mein Fuhrer” by Eleanor Ayer, the biography is about a young boy during the holocaust who wants to join Hitler's army camo for the youth. Even though his parents are against it and could do nothing about it or else they would be imprisoned. This shows how the Nazi’s could brainwash kids so easily because their parent could do nothing about it. This piece of literature makes it easier to connect to, because it is from a boy who has directly gone through this to connect emotionally to. Movies highlight the struggles they people have faced, They show how it was during that time so it would be easier for the watcher to understand what they were going through. In The Diary of Anne Frank, by Anne frank based on the book, it is about a young girl, her family, and friends dealing with the struggles when hiding during the …show more content…
The first life lesson is, to stand up for what you believe for. In “The Ball”, two boys from different religions got in trouble for breaking something when the jewish boy was automatically blamed for breaking a window. The christian boy knew that the jewish boy did it, but he thought that it was wrong that he got all the blamed, so he blamed it on himself. The adults in the story knew he was wrong, but they were trying to talk about not being friends with the boy because he was jewish. He knew that what the adults were trying to do was wrong, so he stood up for himself. Standing up for what you believe is very important to express your opinions and treating everyone equally. Concluding on with the same idea, don't let others change your opinions/beliefs. In “Serving Mein Fuhrer”, many young children during the holocaust got brainwashed by all of the Nazi propaganda. Since the children's opinions changed, they stopped being friends with other children who were of different religions. The little boy in the story had a long time friends who was jewish, but after he came back from the camp be stopped being friends with him. This shows that no matter what other people think, don’t change your own opinions just to please other people because it could lead to things that you might regret . Additionally, you shouldn't judge people by their interest, but by their personality. In The Diary of Anne Frank
There were many aspects in World War two, but the Holocaust is likely the most famous to date. A particular interest is shown for the Holocaust simply because of the unbelievable amount of inhumanity that was exhibited. Although saddening, the attention that has been focused on uncovering the truths of this terrifying event is necessary. Truly understanding how awful the Holocaust was helps to ensure that something similar will never happen again. The book Night and the movie Schindler’s List are two recollections of the Holocaust written from two, very different, perspectives.
If there is an overall lesson that you can learn from this movie than it is to always be true to yourself. This movie has shown that staying true to yourself can lead to much better things and make you happier. What I have learned over the course of my existence is that you have to make yourself happy before others. You will soon find that what you want in life will come faster and be more meaningful if you believe in yourself.
and humanity. Wiesel shows how the Jews mistreated and were mistreated with word choice and situational irony. Elie, the main the character in the book, gives the reader a personal perspective of being a Jew during the Holocaust. Being a Jew was difficult since the Nazis not only mistreated them, but also gave them false hope which contributed to their dehumanization.
He brings us to a world in which not many people want to go. He tells us the true story of what really happened in Nazi concentration camps. Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor, chooses to tell his story and begins to teach an entire generation the dangers of ignorance and hatred. Just by telling his story, just by writing it down, Wiesel is helping to educate people about what atrocities happened in the concentration camps. It tells us how he was stripped of his human rights.
The first lesson is stand up for what you believe in. Joseph stands up for his religion “The Norm is the image of God” pg27. He is a strong believer in God and life is based around his religion. The telepathic group didn’t give up in all types of situation. “Don’t be scared, Rosalind. You had to do it. This is a war, between our kind and theirs” Pg. 128. The telepathic group stayed together and
Anne Frank, Jeanne Wakatsuki and Elie Wiesel all are greatly affected by the war, but in different milieus and in different scenarios. Anne Frank was a 13-year-old Jewish girl who was thrown into one of the worst periods in the history of the world: the Holocaust. Though she went through awful things that many people will never experience, she always kept the faith that there was still some good in everyone. She once said, “Despite everything, I still believe people are truly good at heart.” Her diary, which she kept while her family was in hiding from the Nazis, shows the triumph of her spirit over the evil in the world even through the pain of adolescence.
The lesson I appreciated the most is that one should not give up on something they believe in, just
Many moral responsibilities are also learnt, this is the most important lesson from all is to trust your instincts which both characters of the book have developed.
Describe the social and historical context of the story (see chapter 1 of "Learning in Adulthood"). If you are working with a historical movie you will want to address both the social and historical context of the story and the social and historical context of the time in which the film was made. For example, if you are working with a movie made in the 1980s about the Civil War you will need to talk about the social and cultural influences of the time of the Civil War and any influences that you see from the 1980s.
For example, one scene that touched me the most involved Jewish people attempting to hide from German guard dogs in order to escape. One woman brought her baby with her, and soon afterward she realized it was a mistake. The infant started to cry, and if the baby did not stop making noise a group of people would have been killed. Therefore, the mother decided to have someone in the group kill her child in order to save everyone else. Everyone in this situation feels awful for hurting an innocent human being, but they knew it was the only way to survive. Therefore, I learned how during this time period people were willing to sacrifice anything in order to escape and survive the
Life is a constant test, and it is up to you whether you find the answers and learn from your choices. The lesson that is most important to learn before you die is to never give up on yourself or others and to fight for yourself throughout tough times. In Ernest J. Gaines’ novel “A Lesson Before Dying” this important lesson is expressed through the characters of Grant, Miss Emma, and Jefferson.
Films are necessary in our time period because the human eye can articulate the message intended through sight allowing visual imagination to occur. In the book, world 2 by Max Brooks, he creates a character by the name Roy Elliot who was a former movie director. Roy Elliot manages to make a movie titled “Victory at Avalon: The Battle of the Five Colleges” and some how it goes viral. Similarly, Frank Capra’s film, “Why we Fight” expresses a sense of understanding the meaning of wars. Films do not inevitably portray truth because they display what the film director views as important and beneficial for people to know.
Throughout history, there have been many noteworthy events that have happened. While there are many sources that can explain these events, historical fiction novels are some of the best ways to do so, as they provide insight on the subject matter, and make you feel connected to the people that have gone through it. An example of a historical fiction that I have just read is The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, a story about the life of a German boy who becomes friends with a Jewish boy in a concentration camp during the holocaust. The author of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas portrays the historical period well, and uses many details from the real life holocaust to make his story more believable. This book is a classic, and is a very good look on how it feels to be living in Nazi Germany.
