In honoring and remembering the past, we faced horrible challenges that humans made throughout history that we used for different types of literature today. Short stories get straight to the point and doesn't exaggerate the story. They give real life accounts to try and get the reader's experience what someone might have gone through in a quick period of time. In “The Ball” by Hans Peter Richter, the short story of a jewish boy playing with a christian boy, when he gets blamed because he broke a window but the christian boy stood up for him and said it was his fault so the jewish boy wouldn’t get yelled at. Next, Biographies help realize the actual struggles from a first person account from the time in history. Most literature used different sources that might not be credible, but biographies give you an idea of what actually happened and what they had to go through. In “Serving Mein Fuhrer” by Eleanor Ayer, the biography is about a young boy during the holocaust who wants to join Hitler's army camo for the youth. Even though his parents are against it and could do nothing about it or else they would be imprisoned. This shows how the Nazi’s could brainwash kids so easily because their parent could do nothing about it. This piece of literature makes it easier to connect to, because it is from a boy who has directly gone through this to connect emotionally to. Movies highlight the struggles they people have faced, They show how it was during that time so it would be easier for the watcher to understand what they were going through. The first life lesson is, to stand up for what you believe for. In “The Ball”, two boys from different religions got in trouble for breaking something when the jewish boy was automatically blamed for breaking a window. The christian boy knew that the jewish boy did it, but he thought that it was wrong that he got all the blamed, so he blamed it on himself. The adults in the story knew he was wrong, but they were trying to talk about not being friends with the boy because he was jewish. He knew that what the adults were trying to do was wrong, so he stood up for himself. Standing up for what you believe is very important to express your opinions and treating everyone equally. Concluding on with the same idea, don't let others change your opinions/beliefs. In “Serving Mein Fuhrer”, many young children during the holocaust got brainwashed by all of the Nazi propaganda. Since the children's opinions changed, they stopped being friends with other children who were of different religions. The little boy in the story had a long time friends who was jewish, but after he came back from the camp be stopped being friends with him. This shows that no matter what other people think, don’t change your own opinions just to please other people because it could lead to things that you might regret . Additionally, you shouldn't judge people by their interest, but by their personality. In The Diary of Anne Frank
