The following “Total U.S Pet Industry Expenditures” statistics are gathered by American Pet Products Association from various market research sources and are not included in the organization 's bi-annual National Pet Owners Survey. In this statistic, the total U.S pet industry expenditures is nearly increase 28 billions to 53 billions from 2001 to 2012. It is obvious showed more and more Americans are willing to spend money on pets. I think the number of Americans who own pets also influenced this research. The reason why I choose this statistic is that I find the people around me who own pets more than before. So I have some questions about pet expenditures. In this university into a second semester, I learned a lot , also felt a lot of different from university in America and high school in China. In university I touched more wide than in high school. I need to have a conclusion to face the past university life. And I need to be more confident to face the future. In class, I really enjoyed it. I think have presentation is useful. Taking Presentation is not only show everybody paper’s detail, but also can exercise spoken English skill. That is really good. Another things I think need to change is that we need more nice example, like good sentences and paragraphs. Our professor is very kind. She always gave us back a lot of good suggestions and reminders. And group conferences is also very useful. That is a good choose to look other people’s paper and find something you could learn. I was really enjoyed in Commentary writing assignment. Because in this assignment I was found many information as for pets. And I looked many personal experience came from many pet’s owner. It was so funny and interesting. I got many experience about how to own a pets. The most challenging was having research to people. Because they always thought it was not very serious to friend’s research . Their answer were very short. I think the Commentary paper maybe it is not my best paper, but I think the progress was very
Pets can have real jobs like people. Dogs-rescuers save lives together with people. For instance, when people get in appalling avalanches courageous dogs-rescuers help to find them. Also, some breeds of dogs, e.g. sheep dog, badger-dog, labrador, spaniel, and so on, serve at customs. More than that, they can find illegal things like drugs, dangerous weapons, or explosive stuff. What’s more, they help to control order and assist in avoiding terrible acts of terrorism. Some people literally can't live without pets. For example, blind people need guide-dogs to move around their homes. The connection between such masters and their pets becomes really strong and truly close and a person gets pet-dependent in this case. Enthusiastic owners devote their life to pets. They try to make the best for them and like to take part in exhibitions. Pet's clothes, food, houses, brushes take on special value for
According to the article “Pet Statistics” by the ASPCA estimates there are 70-80 million dogs and 74-96 million cats owned in the United States. It is impossible to determine the number of stray dogs and cats, but the ASPCA estimates there are 70 million cats alone that are strays in the US (“Pet Statistics”). The overpopulation of dogs and cats live either on the streets and die each day, they live in a shelter and try to get adopted, but even then they die. The ASPCA states that nationwide about 7.6 million companion animals enter the shelter and of the 7.6 million approximately 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats (“Pet Statistics”).
More than half of American households have a pet and this trend is just spreading more and more. The main reason people are keeping pets is for the companionship that pets offer. Normal household pets, such as dogs and cats, offer people the attention and the feeling of always having a companion by one’s side that people may not get from other humans. Pets nowadays are often treated as a regular member of one’s family and people will spend a lot of money for their pets. In 2014, Americans has spent an estimated $58 billion on their pets along with hours of care for them (Yuhas, 1). Regardless of the type of pets people may choose to have there is always a common emotional bond that ties the human with the animal between all loving pet owners. This emotional bond benefits humans in various ways.
Many people consider animals as a part of the family. Pets are fun and can be a great addition to many homes. Although, owning an animal can come with many added benefits other than just having a cute and furry friend to play with. People who own pets, may see an increase in their overall quality of life compared to non-pet owners. Pets are a great way to improve the physical, social, and mental health of their owners.
How many of us have seen stray animals around? How many of us have been affected by stray animals in a negative fashion? To help get a good idea on what pet overpopulation is and how it's a problem, some ideas need to be explored. We need to know the major factors behind pet overpopulation and cause it to perpetuate. We need to know pet overpopulation's larger, over reaching effects and the scale of the problems pet overpopulation causes. Lastly, we need to know what has been done and what could be done to help stem the tide of the problem known as pet overpopulation. Just to show how big of a problem pet overpopulation is there is an estimated 70 million stray cats in America alone. ("Pet statistics") That should be a sobering number on how
The purpose of Pet Health Insurance is to eliminate or reduce the final cost of veterinary care for your pets. Although the pet owner has to pay up front, indemnity payouts from the insurance provider are usually quite prompt, so if the pet owner does not have enough cash they can in theory put it on their credit card or work out a payment plan with the veterinary clinic first and once the payout is received, payoff any loan balance.
“Responsible Pet Ownership”. American Veterinary Medical Association. American Veterinary Medical Association, 2014. Web. 8, Apr. 2014.
The prevalence of pet ownership in America has more than tripled during the last several decades, rising from 67 million households during the 1970s to 164 million households in 2012 (Human Society, 2014). The conscious decision by 62 percent of American households to own at least one pet represents a long-term commitment of time, money, and dedication to the needs of a wholly dependent entity. The basic needs for all pets, inclusive of companion animals and farm animals, include several provisions. These provisions include access to safe, clean drinking water at all times, access to high quality food commensurate to the weight of the animal, and adequate shelter from excesses of heat and cold (Agape, 2014). Beyond the life-essential basic needs of animals lay commonly accepted requisites that define responsible pet ownership. These requisites or minimal standards of care include access to veterinary care, access to exercise, and freedom from physical harm.

This class was far more intense than what I expected but I was able to make it through the semester. I learned a lot from this class that I will carry into the future and use in other classes. All of the revision and feedback I have received during the time in the class helped me in the end. I feel like I am gradually becoming a better writer. I will take everything that I have learned in this class and use it for future reference when writing papers. I overall have enjoyed this class this semester.
Some may even be violent to their pets. Animal abuse has played a major role for the cause of dogs or cats to feel neglected, leading to death. For instance, “From 1980 to 1984, the MSPCA investigated 17,480 complaints of abuse and neglect. From 1985 to 1989, the number of cases jumped to 20,698, or a 12.7% increase over the prior five-year period (Arluke, Arnold, and Luke).” This type of abuse is illegal because the United States and British Columbia has a law of prohibiting animal cruelty, however, statistics show that cases of animal abuse keep increasing each year. Examples of animal abuse include dog fighting, dog shock collars, animal experimentation, puppy mills, and plenty more. Some pet owners have no affection or kindness, and for no good reason, torture innocent animals. Therefore, these precious pets end up in animal shelters or pet rescues. According to the Animal Studies Repository article, it states, “Additional social problems with free roaming dogs
The change that happened in China is good ,but not only the government is responsible for protecting dogs, people must teach themselves how treat dogs well. The Dog Meat Festival of Yulin shows how Chinese people have different perspective about dogs. Some of the Chinese believe that dogs meet bring good luck and health so they should eat it. However, many other Chinese specially these days think that they don’t have to eat dogs. Furthermore, the idea of having dogs as pets has changed significantly in China. For example, in 2011, Chinese activists stopped a car transporting dogs to a restaurant and paid 115,000 yuan (then, around $17,000) to free the animals
Education plays a very important role in a person’s life. Basic education is attained through primary school and high school. Education may be further perused after graduating from high school by attending university. However, people who want to peruse higher education must know that although there are similarities, there are also some differences between high school and university in terms of assignments, teachers, and responsibilities.
