My dad took me on my first fishing trip as soon as I could walk. As I grew into a young toddler I couldn’t keep fishing off of my mind. So since the ripe age of five I took every fishing opportunity that presented itself. I started at the most basic level of fishing with a cane pole. From using the cane pole as a youngster I moved onto the closed reel push button Spiderman rod. The Spiderman rod really got me hooked on fishing, it gave me the ability to cast line leading to me catching more fish. I remember my first largemouth bass and the excitement that overcame me, this was the point of no return. The summer of my six grade year I mowed grass every day and eventually

had saved enough for top of the line rod, reel and tackle. Soon after my purchase I met up with my cousin on a friend’s pond and set the hook into some big lipped bass. After spending all this time behind the reel its time I went on a serous freshwater fishing trip. After many hours of coarsening my dad he decided that my brother and I would go to Canada. At this point in my life I couldn’t imagine a better vacation, nothing beats catching trout, Atlantic salmon and pike. This was the road tip of my life not only did I to drive up the east coast, I got the chance to visit my birth place, and most significantly fish the great north eastern Canadian wilderness. My dad is a huge man vs.
food fan so when planning the route he made sure to hit at least a couple of his soon to be favorite restaurants on the way. The vehicle of choice was a 2010 Honda pilot it had plenty of room for my father, brother and I. if you’ve ever spent twenty four hours in a car with anyone you already know it gets old fast. So for this reason we broke the driving into three separate days. The first night we stayed in an average quality motel in Connecticut not very far from Hartford the home of the twelve egg omelet. After enjoying this oversized omelet we hit the road hard. Driving up the coast was entertaining I saw the New York City skyline and Mount Katahdin, one end of the Appalachian Trail. Our next stop was a lobster house in Maine, after our delicious meal we continued to head north. The second night of our trip we stayed in Freeport, Maine home of L.L. Bean. In the morning we set out for the Canadian border. Fortunately we didn’t have any issues at the border and found ourselves in the French speaking province Quebec. Our destination for this night was the Miramichi River in New Brunswick. We stayed in the most beautiful cabin right on the river. The following morning we stopped at the Tim Horton’s a nice sort of a Canadian version of Duncan donuts, but better. After breakfast we met up with a local Atlantic salmon guide and tried our luck on the great Miramichi. Afterwards we got back on the road and headed to Canadians smallest province, Prince …show more content…
Edward where we had a cottage waiting for us right on the Atlantic. I realized just how much I love traveling during this time on the road. After my older brother Minor was born my parents decided they were going to move to Canada. The move was to Prince Edward Island it was a two hour ferry ride from Nova Scotia. This extensively long ferry ride was why the company hired my father is a civil engineer who specializes in the specific type of bridge that was being built. This wasn’t your average bridge in fact it was the longest bridge ever built over frozen water, and spanned a distance of nine miles. In the three year my family spent there I was born. After the project was finished, we left just before I turned two. Prince Edward is about seventy miles across at the furthest points. Other than being one of the most naturally beautiful places I’ve ever seen Tuna fishing, potato farming, tourism and a small University is just about all this small island community has to offer. I am proud of my dual citizenship and glad this fishing trip gave me the chance to see my birth place. Fishing was the entire reason for this trip, and fish we did.
Our first fishing stop was on the Miramichi where we tried our luck against the Atlantic salmon the largest type of salmon. Unfortunately I didn’t land the fish of my life that day, however my dad did it was a twenty five pound salmon that fought for nearly an hour. I am very privileged to have had the chance to try my luck at catching this incredible fish. After leaving New Brunswick we arrived at Prince Edward Island, shortly after unpacking our bags we set out to get fishing permits for the area. We met up with some locals who I had met as a baby and got directions to the local trout stream. This was a top secret location that only a few of the islanders had ever fished, it was the honey hole. My brother and I fished downstream while my dad worked his way into the deeper waters. At days end we all caught about fifteen to thirty fish a piece, on a stream no wider than a two lane road. The next spot we fished was across the channel In Nova Scotia. We went out on a small skiff on a fairly big mountain lake fishing for pike. It started off slow but as the day progressed we started to catch more and more. Pike fight hard and take line out fast it’s quite thrilling to catch one. Later that evening we returned to our cottage and my dad wanted to take my brother and me to the first fishing spot we had ever been to. It was a small family operated trout pond where you pay per pound of fish you pull out of the water.
We ended up pulling a five and nine pounder out of the water then proceeded to gut and cook these beautiful trout. The thousands of hours I sent fishing payed off in this week long period. This was the most success I have ever had while fishing. Fishing is what my dad and I have always done together. This is why I find it impossible to resist putting a line in the water in an attempt to find out what live beneath the surface. I love to explore the unknown that’s what made the drive up so interesting to me. Luckily I was born in a fishing hot spot, otherwise I may not have visited since I left as a baby. My dad also returned for his first time on this vacation and said he saw little resemblance to the once isolated island. This was much more than a fishing trip it was quality family time, and the chance for me to return to my birthplace. I couldn’t have asked for a better vacation it was truly the trifecta.
My friend had invited me along with him and his family to the ocean. It was vacation for the family, but for him and me it was the beginning of a week of serious business. We had an obsessive hobby to pursue. As avid and long-term freshwater fisherman, we were thrilled by the thought of catching those large and exotic saltwater fish we had seen on television a billion times before. Yet little did we expect there to be such vast differences between our freshwater fishing and the saltwater fishing, which we were about to pursue. We learned through trial and much error that in order to have a successful saltwater fishing experience we had to make adjustments to all the freshwater tackle, tactics, and gear we knew.
My first fishing experience was with my dad and my older brother when I was seven. Driving up to the creek, walking through the muddy path on the twisting dirt road. I could feel my dad’s pride
Two friends go out for lunch to their usual favorite sushi restaurant. They are seated and given their menus, they knew they were going to get their usual but noticed the prices have increased. Prices have gone up, and some replaced with imitation fish meat, since the last time they ate there. What might have caused this? Due the demand of fish, the price for them also increases. It’s a simple supply and demand logic, but not only is it due to the demand for these fish, it can also be due to their rareness. Over-fishing can cause what is rare and which fish species isn’t. Commercial fishing may cause fish species to go extinct, or bring in new types of fish to take the place of the other fish. In tuna we

Finding good resources online about 'how to fish' from a shoreline is very difficult. It seems like anyone who is serious enough about fishing to write about their fishing tips and secrets all have boats, fish detectors and large arsenals of rods, reels and fishing tackle. As a beginner angler, I had none of those things and felt intimidated and embarrassed to go fishing in fear that my rig, casting and technique were going to be judged. I also worried that I would actually catch something and that I would end up butchering my catch just to remove the hook.
