Security is very important for many different reasons. A nation must insure their safety as a whole, as well as the persons living in the nation. It is equally important that the nation's economy is stable and growing. Security is something that every nation deals with, in many different ways. It is a way that nations come to together and create allies. However, it is also a way for nations to create enemies. There are a variety of concerns that require attention around the world including state security, human security, and economic security. Political and economic relations impact each of these security issues different proven by history and present events around the world.
"The nation-state system has proven to be an enormously successful construct" (Smallman and Brown 37). Nation-states being when its citizens think similarly and live harmoniously under one government. "Security was defined in terms of the survival of the nation-state, and its ability to maintain its sovereignty" (Smallman and Brown 37). Basically, nations deserve to keep the authority and power to lead itself. In a democracy, the citizens of the nation are able to make more decisions for the nation. For example, when voting on who will lead the nation, voters are able to take into account many different aspects of the candidates. Citizens are then by an extent able to decide things along the lines of whether to engage or not engage in war. This is an example to how politics impact state security. This is important because "the first task of every government is to ensure the security of its citizens from outside threats" (Smallman and Brown 36). This is why an enforcement of peace by the United Nations is ideal because the fact is that "at the current mo...

... to do. There have been unnecessary killings and beatings and now the country is trying out keep the rest of the world uneducated about the affair. The concern of the Venezuelan citizens is less of a concern. This shows "how people define security is defined by the historical and national conflict" (Smallman and Brown 36). Policies and intuitions on handling security are changing everyday.
In Conclusion, politics and the economy have huge impacts on security. This is shown by nations way of dealing with security issues and what actions they take. It is also proven through historical and present day events. Security is a world wide issue which separates nations and brings them together. Humans are stubborn and if they want something bad enough, they will fight for it. This is clear despite any security actions set up. People fight for what they believe is deserved.
The Soviet Union’s most important goal was national security. National security is defined as the protection of a nation from those who want to do it harm, by its government. During the twentieth century when the cold war was at its most tense point, the Soviet Union’s most important goal was national security. It was more important then peace with the United States because if peace with the U.S. meant a decrease in the Soviet Union’s national security than they were open for attack from any other country that wanted to attack them. By keeping the Soviet Union’s national security strong they kept other countries in fear of them, thus creating a fear inspired peace. By focusing on national security tension was created but it also scared both sides into avoiding war at all costs. If the U.S. were to see weakness in the Soviet Union’s national security than the U.S. would have probably been tempted to test the waters and ...

Evaluating threats to America’s national security is a challenge that is undertaken by academics, intelligence analysts, policy-makers, and anyone else with the patience. During the Cold War, America’s biggest concern was easy to define, the only other state capable of competing with America, the Soviet Union. Today, America faces threats from states, non-state actors, domestic groups, and even economic conditions. However, two states should always be kept in mind when discussing national security, China and Russia, with China being the biggest threat.
Surveillance is the monitoring of behaviour. In addition, surveillance system is the process of monitoring the behaviour of people, objects or processes within systems for conformity to expected or desired norms in trusted systems for security control (Cohen and Medioni, 1999). Video surveillance systems have existed 25 years ago whereby it started with 100% analogue system and gradually becoming digital system. The closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera is the most popular video surveillance because of its reliability and low price. The camera does not broadcast images but it records them, so that user can always check to see what occurred while they were away. It is widely used at public spaces and residences for security purposes.

Once coming up with a defense policy, it is important that we define the existing threats in the world so that we minimize the potential chances for failure. There are many threats in the international community that could make success of these policies very difficult. Such issues as the threat of nuclear war and the threat of shortages of natural resources could make implementation of these policies virtually impossible. Along with recognizing the threats to the Unites States from the international community, it is important that we not neglect the internal issues that could threaten the U.S. as a superpower. Recognizing this, it is important to makes sure that the United States maintains a strong economy.
Due to the presence of natural resources a country may be subjected to Geopolitical fights and
...al security, which I believe are the most pressing concern of our time. When considering the fragile Caspian region, there is a tendency to focus on the complicated geopolitical struggle that underlies the New Great Game. A to focus on energy security. Energy security, which has been the cause for several of the most recent wars of our time, including the war in Iraq. Yet global ecopolitics and environmental security, have caused wars of their own, and may still cause another. I have endeavoured to demonstrate the importance of environmental security in our lives. An environmental security crisis can leave a lake devoid of life, or transform a landscape into a wasteland. It can take a vibrant community and turn it into a sickhouse. It is my argument that environmental security should be brought alongside energy security, to the forefront of our political agenda.
Taking into account that states asses its strengths in order to adopt the most effective strategies to deal with potential menaces, westerns states understand the advantages of the aforementioned theory. The current threats that the Western world take into account are composed by local, regional and global menaces. To this paper it is essential recognise the scope of all of those elements that configure a threat to the West. Among many others there are drugs, crime, and terrorism, geo-strategic actors such as the Middle East and Russia, and growing powers such as China. These are complicated patterns that states need to strategically cope with. In fact, the security strategy from Western states is framed between the combination o...

...a voice and a choice. They have the feeling of being secure and free something which is only achieved through national security. Democracies also share similar beliefs and political ideologies which prevent them from engaging in warfare in the event of an arising conflict. The democratic peace theory states that democratic countries do not engage in interstate wars against each other. This theory has been proven true from time and time again in history. There has never been a case of an independent democratic country raging war on another democratic regime. So definitely when it comes to solving conflict through war regime type does matter since democratic states are 99 percent less likely to engage in a fight with autocracies and 100 prevent less likely to declare war on fellow democracy. Democracy is a preventer of conflict on all levels of human interactions.
Cyber security is the protection of networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access. This is important because a great number of our confidential information is on computers and transmit that data across networks to other computers. As of now cyber-attack is one of the transnational issues that we are concern about in the United States. If these private networks were hack our national security infrastructure will be in distress.
Public safety covers a wide variety of people and organizations, but carries one common theme and that is, the public’s safety. This course has broadened my knowledge on the many roles that make the public safety sector go around and the role the public plays in it as well. My thoughts before the course were close minded and to the point. I quickly realized that policing is not as cut and dry as I once portrayed it to be. Society is always changing and adapting, and it is the job of the those in public safety to adapt and change with it. The mindset that I grew up with, in rural Saskatchewan, was the police are good people and you will only need to deal with them if you break the law or see someone break the law. My answers in the module 1 survey reflected my upbringing. My first thought for
Cyber security is the most important computer technology needed in today’s society. Some people think that better computer design will be cost effective and provide protection to our bank accounts, social security numbers and driving records, but recent hacks like Equalfax which have put millions of people in jeopardy is the reason that cyber security is the most important.
A security guard works in any building or area that needs protection from theft, fire, vandalism, and illegal entry. For every security guards job it depends on where they live and work. Every security guard has a different task. Some work in airports. If you work in an airport you might have to search travelers for weapons, explosives, or drugs. They may have also check cargo for illegal items. There are security guards that work museums and art galleries. These security guards have to make sure no one steals, damages, or touches artwork or historical artifacts. They also help people if they have questions and bring people to safety in case if there is a fire or an earthquake. In office buildings and factories, security guards have to make
