Security is very important for many different reasons. A nation must insure their safety as a whole, as well as the persons living in the nation. It is equally important that the nation's economy is stable and growing. Security is something that every nation deals with, in many different ways. It is a way that nations come to together and create allies. However, it is also a way for nations to create enemies. There are a variety of concerns that require attention around the world including state security, human security, and economic security. Political and economic relations impact each of these security issues different proven by history and present events around the world.
"The nation-state system has proven to be an enormously successful construct" (Smallman and Brown 37). Nation-states being when its citizens think similarly and live harmoniously under one government. "Security was defined in terms of the survival of the nation-state, and its ability to maintain its sovereignty" (Smallman and Brown 37). Basically, nations deserve to keep the authority and power to lead itself. In a democracy, the citizens of the nation are able to make more decisions for the nation. For example, when voting on who will lead the nation, voters are able to take into account many different aspects of the candidates. Citizens are then by an extent able to decide things along the lines of whether to engage or not engage in war. This is an example to how politics impact state security. This is important because "the first task of every government is to ensure the security of its citizens from outside threats" (Smallman and Brown 36). The concern of the Venezuelan citizens is less of a concern. This shows "how people define security is defined by the historical and national conflict" (Smallman and Brown 36). Policies and intuitions on handling security are changing everyday.
In Conclusion, politics and the economy have huge impacts on security. This is shown by nations way of dealing with security issues and what actions they take. It is also proven through historical and present day events. Security is a world wide issue which separates nations and brings them together. Humans are stubborn and if they want something bad enough, they will fight for it. This is clear despite any security actions set up. People fight for what they believe is deserved.
