As you may know (if you took two seconds to look at me.) I am a unarmed security officer also known as a unarmed security guard. What I would like to share today, is some insights into a unarmed security officers daily routine as well as tips on getting hired. These tips are based on my work experience.
First I would like to start with what you should expect from a usual day as a Unarmed Security Officer. First, you clock in gather your gear (radio,Keys,Patrol belt). Afterwards you have several options of either walking the property, driving around the property(If provided a vehicle.), or biking around the property (if you have bike patrol and posses the required training.). You will have to check certain areas every hour (more or less) to

make sure the area is secure and all equipment is up and running to set parameters. Furthermore, You will need to report to any incidents and do any reports based on company's policy of said incident furthermore you will need to follow up with individuals involved in the incident. Security has it's fair share of report writing depending on where you are planning on working. Such as: Slip & Fall reports, Lost & Found, Banning, Parking Violations, Incident Reports, Daily Activity Reports (DAR), Temperature Readings, and more. I would also like to share some pointers about security.
If you are looking to get a job as security; I would recommend getting all the certifications and training needed for the position BEFORE turning in your application. I have seen several applicants who have not completed the required training and consequently be pushed to the side in favor of people who have the required criteria. Nevertheless in my workplace we have probably ten-twenty applicants at a time and only three-four with the required training. Therefore it would be extremely beneficial to complete training before turning in application. I would also like to recommend being clean when you turn in your application. Security officers DO have some say if you get hired or not (you are joining a TEAM a TEAM that looks out for each other). Therefore, if you look/act as if you will not be a professional or a team player some security officers will push for you to not be hired. But remember in the end it is up to the Security Director to make that decision. Being a Security Officer is a good stepping stone into Law Enforcement or several other agencies. Especially if you work alongside Law Enforcement to help secure your facility. You will have a excellent opportunity to network with police officer of possibly high ranking and consequently have a higher chance of receiving a law enforcement position. It helps you to get the very basics down. You can then focus your time on more advanced
crafts. I am happy to share any other information one would be curious to learn about security in general. Feel free to contact me at anytime at: AlexanderCorreale@gmail.com Thank you for your time. -Alexander Correale
They must be physically fit because they must pass an exam that is similar to military and law enforcement physical aptitude tests. Candidates without a formal education may qualify if they have three years of specialized experience and training. This generally only applies to former military and law enforcement personnel who have experience interviewing people, conducting surveillance, carrying out investigations and organizing

A typical day for a Correctional Officer would be the preparing of inmates for court appearances. They also receive new inmates to the facility brought in by the Sheriffs Department. Each new inmate must be photographed and fingerprinted upon immediate arrival to the Pre Trial Centre. They are then stripped and fully searched inside and out. With that ...
Around the world police officers are trained to do their job effectively, and with six months or more of training to be well disciplined, and a coordinated team of professionals in what they do. Every move they make counts, anything done without technique could cost them their life or someone else’s. The have to be effective with all the weapons they are equipped with such as sharp shooters with their pistols or heavier weaponry like a shotgun or assault rifle. They also need to know when exactly to use their less lethal weapons such as the electric rifle known as a Taser or the OC spray also known as mace or pepper spray. They may also use the self-defense techniques taught during their time in training of mixed martial arts that they gained knowledge in, taking someone down with an arm maneuver or something similar.
The career of a correctional officer has always captivated me in a way that is difficult to explain. Even as a child, I recall tuning into shows such as Lockup and Lockdown. In fact, my earliest, most vivid memories consist of me sitting in front of a TV screen with my eyes mesmerized by the hardened criminals visioned on the screen before me. It may seem peculiar, but I’ve always pictured myself inside the prison walls. What’s even more peculiar is that I’ve seldom visioned myself as a correctional officer; in fact, I’ve almost always visioned myself as a prisoner. Given what’s been said, one may ask me why it is that I aspire to be a correctional officer. And the answer to that question is rather simple. I want to be a correctional officer because I thrive for a rush of euphoria to course through my veins. And being a correctional officer will allow an endless supply of euphoria to course through my veins. And with that said, I don’t need to further explain why such a career is what I long for.
Police work is no easy task being an officer requires having the guts to protect and serve their community, it takes integrity and respect to others. As an officer one must know radio codes, traffic violations, state laws, how to lead, trust their team, how to interact with civilians, etc. Officers must have and must be able to express patience with civilians and must provide a safe environment to civilians. To become a Police Officer education comes first, the educational requirements are to have a high school diploma or GED, and a Bachelors degree in Criminal justice. Also to attend police academy in which they train to become mentally tough, and physically strong. They are tested on how much pressure they can take and their endurance. There is also a physical test that they take to ...
The primary duty of a police officer is to protect the public (Duties of a Police Officer. 2015.). To accomplish this task, police officers are assigned specific job duties on a daily basis, which vary depending on the size and type of their department. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, common duties of a police officer include patrolling designated areas, answering calls for help, enforcing laws, arresting suspected criminals, issuing citations, testifying in court and conducting traffic stops. Police officers also complete detailed reports regarding incidents after all traffic stops or house calls (Duties of a Police Officer.
You need to be good with them. You must be polite. It's good if you show that you're polite. You can wish them a good morning, buy them a cop of coffee, socialize with them. It's important for them to know that they can trust you, and that they can rely on you. They must know that they can talk to you whenever they have a problem, or whenever they need an advice. You shouldn't swear, yell, shout, scream. You need to keep your volume low, and speak to them normally. You are not any better than them, you are just a normal officer, like any other. The officers need to feel comfortable when they talk to
Police have been involved in schools for a very long time (Morrison 2003; McNicholas n.d.). The origin of school resource officers (SRO) dates back to the 1950s, when Flint, Michigan, assigned an officer to a school in 1953. In the 1960s and 1970s, various towns in Florida also had local police that assigned officers to some schools—the term ”school resource officer” is credited to a Miami police chief (Griffin 2000). SROs also began in Tucson, Arizona, in the early 1960s. During the late 1960s, the Fresno Police Department in California also stationed seven officers in elementary and junior high schools to try to better relations between the police and the community (West and Fries 1995).
One of the reasons I decided to research what kind of weapons police officers carry is because I was curious on what kind of weapons they carry, and in which situations do they use certain weapons, and how the police officers are trained to react to certain situations also I will be talking about how much police officers are disliked today. In the police field a couple of people say they do not get paid enough for the dangerous things that they encounter everyday to keep people safe or to keep the world from getting out of control, so it takes the men and women that are dedicated and strong to be able to endure all the task they go through everyday. But police officers have an advantage compared to any other job the police officers get to carry these following weapons: Handgun, Shotgun, Bulletproof vest, Duty Belt, Handcuffs, Taser, Baton, Mace, Extra Magazines, Radio, Flashlight, Knife, and Boots. As I was reading all the equipment the police officers carry I would say they carry a lot of weapons in order to keep them safe from be harmed while trying to keep people safe.
Law enforcement officers tasked with regulating laws and maintaining peace in society often encounter many standards of trouble. Officers often have to put their life on the line to complete their duty of protecting society and maintaining law and order, they have to fight through aggressive criminals and crack down on fugitives. According to Bier (2014), The average police officer has to confront with the mentally ill, drunken civilians and criminal suspects on a daily basis, this is not only physically draining but also mentally draining from the constant psychological stress that accompanies the occupation. In addition to patrolling around, police officers around the country are constantly and willingly ready to put their
Security guards are essential in almost every business; but in government facilities they provide a crucial service. Their presence not only deters crime coming from outside a facility, it also prevents criminal activity from happening within establishments. They are the first responders to incidents that require law enforcement assistance within a facility. Whether a situation is simple or dangerous, they respond and are responsible for the safety of the people and property that they are protecting. Security guards should be highly rewarded according to the services they provide as private defenders of the public.
In any given setting, police officers are responsible for maintaining order within a, sometimes overly chaotic, society. They are given the responsibility of acting as protectors of the defenseless and upholding justice, at the risk of injury to themselves or even the loss of their own life. In addition, it is inevitable that an officer will eventually come into physical contact with an individual, who may be volatile or avoiding arrest, which nonetheless increases the odds of a physical confrontation. The distressing truth is that, although being assaulted is not a requirement of their profession, it is essentially unavoidable. With that said, police officers realize this fact and readily accept the reality that at any given moment, be
There is actually much more than doing just that. Security guards might patrol in a car and others may walk around in buildings to make sure nothing suspicious is going on. Others may patrol on foot. Most government buildings and military buildings are guarded at all times. They also have to direct people to an emergency exit in dangerous situations. Some guards work with security dogs. The only down side of the work conditions is that you may have to work on some holidays and weekends. Very few guards are armed while working. Many industries find weapons unnecessary for security guards. Banks are one of the few businesses that have armed guards. If the guards are standing or on patrol they may be standing at a gate or door. They may have to stand for long hours at a time. Some security jobs can be a routine or repetitive. Others can be dangerous, but exciting. Many security guards just patrol, but a small percentage have to work in an
Being a security guard can be difficult and challenging. It requires a good and healthy education to be a higher rank because of experience. This job is meant to be taken very serious because not only is your life at risk so are others. Security guards are all around you even when they do not physically appear in front of you. Education can also help with a better
