After a little further research, I uncovered that there is also a so-called “Secret Rapture theory.” According to these theories that the second coming of Jesus will be in two separate stages. The first is the secret rapture of the church at the beginning of a supposed sever year tribulation which is followed by an illustrious, triumphant return of Christ to the earth where he is accompanied by the church at the end of the seven year tribulation period. This is the belief that during the seven year tribulation period, the antichrist will come into power and also during this time, God will select and seal 144,000 literal Jews who will take the Gospel to the whole world converting immeasurable souls to Christ. The battle of Armageddon,
As previously mentioned, there was Harold Camping, which after his predictions failed, he was labeled a “false prophet” and was said that his ministry would collapse after the failed prediction. During the interview where he stated he no longer believed that anybody could know the time of the Rapture, he also stated that attempting to predict the rapture was sinful and that people were right in their comments of him being a false prophet. Afterwards, his radio station suffered huge losses in revenue, staff members and assets. Another public religious figure and Christian evangelist was preacher turned Christian superstar, Billy Graham. His views on the rapture were “There were many Christians who believe that the second coming of Jesus Christ will be in two phases. First he will come for the believers, both living and dead, in the “rapture”; read 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17. In this view, the rapture- which is the transformation and catching up of all Christians dead or alive to meet Christ in the air- will be secret for it will be unknown to the world of unbelievers at the time of his happening. The effect of this removal, in the absence of multitudes of people, will, of course, be evident on earth. Then, second, after a period of seven years of tribulation on earth, Christ will return to the earth with His church, the saints who
He objects to a view which argues that John is speaking of God’s timing rather than ours by pointing out the concrete historicity of Revelation including churches and expressions used are “emphatic-declarative.” Regarding an objection which states that the events will ...
Both in the Old and New Testament, the Antichrist is described as this wicked individual who appears at the end of the age. Rising up politically to become the most powerful man on the planet, he will be regarded a Hero — the world’s Savior. Out of a power block of ten nations (or territories) rooted in the old Roman empire, he will establish some type of world government. Under his authority, Babylon (Iraq) will be rebuilt into the commercial center of the world. Through his mystical right hand man, a commercial mark will be instituted, enabling the Antichrist to control all buying and selling on earth. Peace between Israel and her surrounding Arab nations will be established when he institutes a seven-year treaty allowing the Jews to rebuild their holy temple; a temple he will later defile when he stands in its midst and proclaims himself — god. Satan himself will possess him. An anthropomorphic image, called the Beast will be created — through great signs and wonders — that all will be commanded to worship. Towards the end of his reign, he will bring the armies of the world together in Israel for the great battle known as Armageddon. The globe will experience what is called the Great Tribulation leading up to this time involving terrible cosmic and supernatural judgment. This seven-year tribulation starts when

Things Fall Apart and The Second Coming " The Second Coming" By William Butler Yeats Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer, Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosened upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosened, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned The best lack of all convictions, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Chinua Achebe based his story, "Things Fall Apart," on the poem by William Butler Yeats called "The Second Coming."
In his poem "The Second Coming," Yeats predicts cataclysmic changes about to be wrought upon human kind. He states, "Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;/Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world," (1511). This statement is in line with Modernistic thought of this time period. Modernistic writers felt that traditional teachings left something to be desired, and that it was time for change. There was a huge upheaval in religious beliefs and current religious convictions were being challenged with new scientific knowledge. Yeats foresees spiritual changes in the words, "Surely some revelation is at hand;/Surely the Second Coming is at hand..."(1511).
happened. The priest immediately began to question his faith not even thinking about the rapture.
Unlike other views that believe the second coming will be in two phases, amillennialists feel it will occur in one stage; within the time between the first and second coming (459). They fuse the two resurrections spoken in Revelation 20:1-6 into one stage. In this one stage, a general resurrection will occur in which all believers and unbelievers will be gathered. They understand that Satan will be bound during the in-between time and at the second advent he will be released for a short time to cause havoc (458). Christ will return after the heavenly millennium reign and all believers and transformed believers will be taken up to the clouds to be with Him.
He will be taught reverence for his own spirit. When I shall have read all the books and learned my new way, when my home will be ready and my earth tilled, I shall steal one day, for the last time, into the cursed City of my birth. I shall call to me my friend … and all those like him. I shall call to me all ment and the women whose spirit has not been killed within them and whose suffer under the yoke of their brothers. They will follow me and I shall lead them to my fortress. And here, in this uncharted wilderness, I and they, my chosen friends, my fellow-builders, shall write the first chapter in the new history of man. (100)
The book Things Fall Apart , by Chinua Achebe , is very similar to the poem , The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats.
The documentary is about Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist, credited for the invention of the atomic bomb. The atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Oppenheimer used to not be politically active until the war. He is known to be a left wing while his family members joined the communist. He is a jew and also has a lot of European friends living where the Nazis are. It is interesting to see how people think Oppenheimer’s political actions would influence him to work on the atomic bomb. I think the film suggested that he got involved more because of the politics rather than the knowledge or the practice of science. Oppenheimer was seen as a genius. He wanted to help save the western civilization, and thought the only way was to use physics by joining the Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer then became the leader of scientists for this research at Berkley. Robert was told to convince scientists, traveling under a sealed name, to help in a secret project at a secret place in New Mexico. It was also interesting to see that most of the scientists were men and young graduate students they taught. One quote from the film that I remembered was “Oppenheimer sold his soul for knowledge” because he
For hundreds of centuries, man has pondered what revelations or spiritual awakenings will occur in future's time. Poet William Yeats, has written, "The Second Coming," which foretells how the Second Coming brings horror and repression to the world. Yeats takes into speculation that the future will certainly bring further darkness than is already present in the current world. He employs various symbols and allusions to assert his claims of the world's ultimate demise. The purpose of these symbols and allusions make it possible to fully understand Yeats's point of view of the fall of our present civilization and the rise of a new civilization with a gloomy future.
The second phase is the return of Christ to the earth following the tribulation period in a literal sense for a thousand-year reign. During the thousand-year reign of Christ there will be a separate and “distinct program for Israel and the
