School social work is lately expanding in many states. Funding for school social work positions can be linked to federal dollars and federal mandates. Any conflicts at the federal level could affect school social work positions. Changes in state funding could also affect school social work positions. The Midwestern portion of the country is currently the strongest area for school social work, but many other states across the country have strong programs. Within states, the level of services provided from school to school varies. It provides numerous programs to the New York City residence. Such as English Language Learner(ELL), which provides free summer classes for different subjects varies from math, science, reading and writing for ELL students from grades 2-8. Along with the Division of English language Learners and Students Supports(DELLSS), supports bilingual and ENL program to the family's that does not know English. School social work is the best fit for these programs. Although, the student is struggling with the language barrier. But as a school social worker, one can help the student feels welcome in the learning environment.
