As seniors in high school, it is expected of us to be able to produce high quality work. However, the proposal presented by the school board is flawed. The proposal made by the school board presents too much of a high-stakes grading system for high school students, creates unfair circumstances for underclassmen, and logistical nightmares for school administration staff. Each of these flaws have their own warrants as to why the policy should not be enacted. To consider each reason an in-depth evaluation of each is nessecary. The proposal of the school board would restrict the number of assignments in each class to only six per semester. In doing this, it would make it more difficult for students to succeed in their educational goals. As an institute of learning, one of the mission points of school districts is to engage students so they can succeed. In restricting the number of assignments for senior classes to only six per semester, the school district and school board in failing in their mission. If the new policy is enacted it would create unfair situations for the success of underclassmen. The addition of more senior only classes to accommodate the new policy is only creating more work for these officials. Harvey Mackay once said, “Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.” Mackay’s quote shows how precious time is to our existence. In creating more tasks to be done by these officials, the school board is wasting the precious time of multiple individuals. This is a gross and inappropriate infringement by the school
