We need to save the bees! Community leaders have debated the effects of bees going extinct for many years. The bees keep many things alive not just flowers and fruit. My first reason we need to save the bees is we wont have a bunch of deilius and delectable fruits that many know and love.Another reason why its important to save the bees is the ecosystem will collapse and that wont be good because the ecosystem will go out of balance and that will not be good. The last reason but certainly not least reason is California will lose alot of money because many bees California sells and makes a large income from just one sale. To start off if bees go extint many plants will go extint to and the disadvantages keep coming and if plants go extint so do animals then humans so no life will be on Earth get it bee oh anywaysno life will be on earth and that wont be good. For example Source Two states,"Almonds 4 billion pounds a year Protects the heartLowers blood pressure Provides important …show more content…
"This is relatable from the text because it shows that Californian makes hundreds of billions of dollars a year which means the state of California makes a large amount of income a year. Some critics may argue the state of California already makes a lot of money its nothing much the can find another way to make money. While that may be true I argue California would not make as much money with the bees.As you can see if the bees can't pollinate the state of California will lose hundreds of billions of
What do you think when you think of bees? I think of honey, pollination, and soon, new life. According to Walt D. Osborne, “Bees are vital for the pollination of more than 90 fruit and vegetable crops worldwide, including almonds, peaches, soybeans, apples, pears, cherries, raspberries, blackberries, cranberries, watermelons, cantaloupes, cucumbers, and strawberries,” (Osborne 9-11) but each year a large percent of hives have vanished due to many different factors such as stress. Most people would declare that the average honey bee is insufficiently important to the world because bees are pests to home owners everywhere, but bees are extremely important to earths’ survival than any other pollinator in the world; they help pollinate most of the world’s agriculture; yet in the recent years bee populations have plummeted rapidly. I am writing this paper to create awareness that the agricultural society ought to stop or lessen the spraying of pesticides/ insecticides on crops, unnatural diets and overcrowding in the hives.
Bees are necessary for us to have fruits and vegetables because without them we wouldn’t be able to eat many things. The first beekeeper, David Harkenberg had 3,000 bees realized that the bees were vanishing and he didn’t know why. A massive bee loss was happening and people thought that he was just a bad beekeeper.
Think for a moment of a world without bees; a world without our buzzing friend. They might look like they barely do much to help our ecosystem. However, bees are a vital part of our agriculture and this makes it vital that we keep them around. The bee population decline in recent years is troubling for both us and our little friends. As their friends, we must do all we can in order to ensure their survival which in turn will ensure our own.
The Apis Mellifera, or honey bee, have survived on this planet for fifty million years. This species of bee is responsible for pollinating flowers, grass, trees and crops around the world. Much of the food we eat is dependent on honey bees for pollination. Our ecosystem depends on the survival of the honey bee. Colonies of honeybees have been disappearing at an alarming rate around the world due to parasites, viral and bacterial diseases, and the introduction of pesticides and herbicides. Over the past six years, on average, 30 percent of all the honey bee colonies in the U.S. died off over the winter of 2012(NPR/TED). If this trend continues to spiral downward, honey bees will disappear from the world. We must understand the importance of the Honey bee and change our environmental practices in order to sustain this vital insect.
“No bees, no honey; no work, no money.” Bees are becoming an endangered species due to colony collapse disorder, a colony no longer existing due to a combination of deadly factors. Bees are very important in our lives from making food cheaper to making honey-added in many medicines, foods, and other products. There are a few steps we can take in order to save our honeybees.
“Crop pollination is, by far, the most important and profitable of bee services.(The Economic Importance)” As bees go about collecting pollen and nectar for their hives to make honey, some of the pollen sticks to the bees’ fine fur. The bees will travel from plant to plant spreading the pollen where it needs to go so the plants will produce offspring. Foods such as the ones listed earlier, along with other national favorites such as avocados, cashews, and watermelon, will no longer be able to grow once all of the honey bees die, according to Christina Sarich in her article "List of Foods We Will Lose If We Don 't Save the Bees,” written for the website HoneyLove. This fact poses as a huge threat, not only on our economy, but also on our well being as a species. Fruits and vegetables should be half of what we eat everyday as found on ChooseMyPlate.gov, the nation’s recommended dietary allowance as approved by the United States Department of Agriculture, also known as the USDA. In a world that already has the extremes of some countries being obese and others completely undernourished, the globe can not risk having an extinction of honey bees, which is where we are
Honeybees around the world are dying at a fast rate and it is creating world-wide controversy. Scientists have found it could be from a reason of things such as pests, parasites, loss of genetic diversity and much more. Whatever the reason, there will be an outcome if not stopped. Scientists from all over are trying to help find a solution for this horrific topic. There are not much people who know the importance of honeybees in our ecosystem. Most people just think their only purpose is to make honey but how else could the collapse of honeybees really affect us? If honeybees go extinct it will be detrimental to the human existence.
The Buzz As a society, we are aware of our current environmental issues, but as individuals, we do nothing to aid the process. We are knowledgeable about the problems in our ecosystem, such as pollution, lack of clean water, the ozone layer declining and deforestation, but we just simply choose to ignore them. The media does a proficient job at illustrating the necessities that our environment needs, but lacks on the smaller picture. As the general public, we don’t reflect on how insects, such as bees, play a massive role in our environment. For generations, most of us have taken honey bees for granted.
Overall, the present state of bees has been concluded to be the fault of humans, and therefore bees can only be saved by
Bees have been around for millions of years and essentially help make the world function. They help grow our fruits and vegetables by pollinating them. Without them the world would be a very different place. Over time without the bees humans would eventually go extinct because we need them for our survival. It boils down to if bees go extinct humans will as well. Recent studies have been done that show that bee populations are declining. Our bee population has decreased by nearly half in recent years. Due to harsh winters, severe drought, and pesticides used on plants, bees are dying at an alarming rate.
Bees are certainly important for pollinating food crops, but they are also important for other crops that touch our lives every day like cotton. If it weren’t for bees pollinating cotton, we might all have to be wearing polyester. I would not want to live in a world without bees, but we are observing some declines in bee populations around the world and it looks like it's a number of factors coming together all at once. One of them is pesticides. While there is legitimate use of pesticides for controlling unwanted damaging crop pests.
One important process that takes place along the way is the pollination of plants. Bees pick up pollen from a variety of plants, as they collect the nectar they need. This pollen is then spread about to the various areas that the bee visits and results in the growth of new plants. This pollination process is one reason why bees are so important to our planet. Bees account for about 90 percent of the pollination of wild plants which means that if the bee were to go extinct it would wipe out many varieties of flowers and food along the way. Bees also account for about 30 percent of the pollination of the world’s crops, meaning that about three of every ten bites of food you take is due to the hard work of bees. Only one species of bee has been
Bees should be a protected species because without bee’s pollens there won't be lots of new plants to grow and that could affect our crops and animal habitats. Bees might be an annoyance but they are extremely important to our world. Without bees the pollen from flowers the seed in the pollen wouldn’t reach the ground and wouldn’t grow. Pollen is a fine to coarse powdery substance comprising pollen grains which are male microgametophytes of seed plants, which produce male gametes (sperm cells). And without male plant pollen new seeds couldn’t be formed because the seed needs half of a male deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) to became a seed.
My family is crazy. We are all very different yet alike all at the same time. In my personal family household I have my 2 daughters Olivia and Ruby, my boyfriend Eric, and my dog Pookie. I also had a cat who was my first pet; Lucky. He passed away 11.04.2015. But like everyone else I also have a mom, dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and a whole bunch of little cousins, my sister Layla and a brother who I’ve never met and not sure what his name is. My family is like any other family dysfunctional yet we love each other despite all of that. I am pretty close with my family but we can always be closer depending who you ask. Some of us are scattered in different places, I have a few relatives in California but other than that we all live in
Over the past decade bee populations have been dropping drastically. A 40% loss of honeybees happened in the U.S. and U.K. lose 45% of its commercial honeybee since 2010. This is a phenomenon known as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) in which worker bees from a beehive abruptly disappear in a short time. These data are definitely not meaningless since bees are a crucial part of the reproductive cycle of many foods. The impact bees have on the agriculture and the environment is far more crucial than we may think. Crops rely on bees to assist their reproduction and bring them life. Bees are renowned in facilitating pollination for most plant life, including over 100 different vegetable and fruit crops. Without bees, there would be a huge decrease in pollination, which later result in reduce in plant growth and food supplies. On the other hand, without the pollination progressed with the assistance from bees, the types of flowers According to Dr. Albert Einstein, “If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination…no more men”. That’s why bees’ extinction affects people more than we ever think, and could even forebode the doom day of human race.
