Relation to Global Warming Sandy charted an uncommon track. Powerful jet streams usually push hurricanes eastward and moves out to sea. However, Sandy curved left and westward with an extremely high pressure in the Atlantic along with a wavy jet stream. The jet stream’s shape is influenced by the difference in temperature between the cold air at the North Pole and the warm temperature of the earth’s equator. The temperature at the Artic was rising doubly fast as the rest of the world. Recent studies found a correlation between rising temperatures and a wavier jet stream. Scientists are uncertain if the warmer temperature at the Arctic caused Sandy to turn. A number of evidences suggested that if ice is removed from the Arctic,
As mountain ranges began to reappear, streams and rivers became more vibrant with rushing waters transferring boulders and gravels to different places on the surface of Earth. Water is known to be one of the most significant factors of the Exhumation of the Rockies; however wind is thought to have played an important role in the removal of the mountains from the depths of debris as well. As John David Love has said, “Wind erosion has tremendous significance in this part of the Rocky Mountain region” (McPhee 60). Consistent southwest winds, blowing in the same direction throughout each time period of the Earth’s history, picked up thousands of feet of debris from the surface of the Earth and carried it away into the Atlantic Ocean. The work of erosion through water and wind has given the landscape its

Lake effect snow was not a quick discovery compared to other forms of weather. In the 1800’s when there was no satellites or weather radar to track a storm, early day forecasters would have to get observations from spotters across the country and provide a one and two day forecast on the type of weather that may ...

Elijah Muhammad endured many teachings as well as influential moments. For example, when the television program aired and the newspaper got out, things took a turn. People began calling out upset and slander. Mr.Muhammad “could maintain his calm and patience”, as the text states. The opposed blacks began calling Muhammad a demagogue, fanatic and crackpot.
Humans have had many impacts on the planet as a species. Possibly the most well-known is Global Climate Change. However many people refuse to consider the evidence, and continue to peddle ridiculous conspiracy theories. Global Climate Change is not a conspiracy theory because minor climate aberrations, expanding sea ice, and no supporting statistics are all non-legitimate arguments against it. There are copious amounts of evidence to disprove these fallacies.
Surface current are found in the upper four hundred meters (400m) and makes up about ten percent (10%) of ocean (Briney, n.d.). Surface ocean currents are as a result of friction between the water and atmosphere interface. The wind exerts a force or stress to the ocean surface and causes the water to move. The winds that most affect the oceans’ currents are the Westerlies which produce belts of ocean currents that flow east in the mid-latitude and the Trade winds which generate currents that flow to the west in tropical latitudes. These winds are mainly a result of warm air from the tropics moving towards the poles. The direction of the current is not the same as the direction of the wind but it is deflected at a forty five degree angle. This deflection is resulted from the earth’s rotation on its axis called the Coriolis force/ effect. Coriolis force and constrains by continental land masses cause surface currents to develop into an alm...
Hurricanes are enormous heat engines that generate energy on a staggering scale. They draw heat from warm, moist ocean air and release it through condensation of water vapor in thunderstorms. The current hurricane that occurred was Big Sandy. FEMA became involved with the issue when the hurricane hit Rockaway, New York. President Obama declared a major disaster on October 30, 2012.
Throughout history climates have drastically changed. There have been shifts from warm climates to the Ice Ages (Cunningham & Cunningham, 2009, p.204). Evidence suggests there have been at least a dozen abrupt climate changes throughout the history of the earth. There are a few suspected reasons for these past climate changes. One reason may be that asteroids hitting the earth and volcanic eruptions caused some of them. A further assumption is that 22-year solar magnetic cycles and 11-year sunspot cycles played a part in the changes. A further possibility is that a regular shifting in the angle of the moon orbiting earth causing changing tides and atmospheric circulation affects the global climate (Cunningham & Cunningham, 2009, p.205). Scientific studies suggest that all these played a role in past global warming and cooling periods. Today, however, there is a lot of conflict on whether humans are causing a global warming that could be disastrous to humans and all species of plants and animals on this earth. This paper will first explain the greenhouse effect, then take a look at both sides argument, and, finally, analyze the effect of global warming on world-wide sustainability

Thesis statement: The global warming and the resultant climatic change is due to uncontrolled human exploitation of earth and its resources thereby emitting large volumes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
The planet Earth has been around for a really long time. Trees covered the grounds and all kinds of animals roamed the land. But this was before humans began to burn fossil fuels, before land was starting to be cleared, and before the climate began to change. The change in climate on planet Earth is called ‘global warming’. Some people do not believe that this phenomenon is really happening. Based on the facts, it really is happening. The surface of the Earth is warming rapidly and humans are a main cause. This paper is about global warming, the causes of it, the changes in climate on Earth, and the potential dangers of it.
What is global warming? Global warming is defined as a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants. This issue is not only a concern to the United States, but to the entire world because everyone and everything is being affected due to global warming. This problem is a big concern because not only is it effecting the Earth, but humans as well. Global warming affects the environment, the climate, animals, and humans all together. Sadly this problem is a concern to many and a joke to others, and without the help of everyone this issue can have a dramatic change in the lives of many.
Our planet has managed to survive and thrive for about 4.54 billion years. In the last 2 million years we have caused enough damage and destruction to make our world “broken” beyond repair. We will not be able to get back the world we once had. The reason behind this is global warming, specifically, the increase of the global temperature due to the burning of fossil fuels and the release of greenhouse gas emissions into our atmosphere. If we do not make the issue of global warming a priority in today`s society, our entire way of life will be at risk. There are many reasons why so many people believe global warming should be a concern. Thoroughly examined points include: scientific predictions, rising temperatures, human causes, drastic climate changes and animal adaptations. Though there are several points arguing how global warming should not be a concern, the reality of the matter is that it needs to be taken into consideration on a global scale before it is too late, as to do nothing would have devastating implications on humankind.
