Relation to Global Warming Sandy charted an uncommon track. Powerful jet streams usually push hurricanes eastward and moves out to sea. However, Sandy curved left and westward with an extremely high pressure in the Atlantic along with a wavy jet stream. The jet stream’s shape is influenced by the difference in temperature between the cold air at the North Pole and the warm temperature of the earth’s equator. The temperature at the Artic was rising doubly fast as the rest of the world. Recent studies found a correlation between rising temperatures and a wavier jet stream.
