I. The Debate over Same Sex Marriage: An Overview
Each year, over seven million people are denied the ability of marrying the one they love. People around the United States of America are not allowed because other strangers think it is “wrong” by their own standards, or morally incorrect. By allowing another form of marriage, adoption agencies will have many more options for their children to be adopted into a loving family. It creates a safer world for everyone to live openly about their gender preferences. Same sex Marriage has caused considerable debate between both pro, and anti, same sex marriage despite there is a law that states that no state can have a law that does not allow homosexual couples to marry and support court decisions.
II. Constitutional Connections
The Preamble to the Constitution states:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America” (Maddex 549)
One part of the Preamble to the Constitution of the United Stated that relates to same sex marriage is the phrase “establish justice.” This would support the people who are pro same sex marriage because it states that everyone should have justice by having the ability to marry the one they love, even if they are the same gender.

...r beliefs are the same. It should not restrict men and women who do not follow that religion or those beliefs, because it’s the belief of those two individual people that matters. Refraining same sex marriage because of a religion is like banning all food that is not Kosher, because the Jewish religion does not approve of it.
Same sex marriage should be allowed in all states because it does not directly affect anyone but the couple, it helps orphans across the nation, and every person around the world has their own beliefs. Too many people are restricted from a happy life with the one they love, because strangers want the world to be as they want. Children can be pushed in the wrong direction with an unloving family. And each person across the nation beliefs are different. Same sex marriage should be legalized in all fifty states across the United States of America.
The Constitution is composed of 3 major parts. The first of which is the preamble. As the opening statement of the Constitution it outlines the goals the American people have for the country. In the preamble the people are assured the laws of the land would apply to all and be fair to all by this line “establish justice” (Doc 1). Peace and order in the nation along with the providing of defence for the people of America are also promised by the line “insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense.” (Doc 1). People were also assured their well being and their freedom as long as they lived in the law,Page 42R “promote the general, and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity” (Doc 1). The preamble sets the tone for the rest of the document and declares the document the “...Constitution for the United States of America.” (Doc 2)
The United States Constitution is a national government that consist of citizen’s basic rights and fundamental laws. This document was signed on September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia by the majority of representatives. Today, the United States Constitution’s purpose is to supply a strong central government. However, before the United States Constitution was developed, many citizens did not support the constitution due to the fact that they found it contradicting and detached from the original goals of the Declaration of Independence. “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility…” This states that the Constitution is written for the people of the United States because they are the main focus and the most important part of the government. Then, it starts to list goals for the Constitution and our government. The Constitution will make sure that it’s a success in terms of cooperation and fairness for everyone. Also, the government is to ensure peace in the country.
The document known as the Constitution acts as the binding fabric of our nation, an embodiment of national identity and a testament to our desire to work together, as one nation, for the pursuit of the values and ideals fought for during the American War of Independence and throughout our history. The Constitution of the United States receives esteem from all corners of the country, both geographically and ideologically, and is considered by most as the document that ensures and exudes the freedom enjoyed in our country based in republican democracy. However, our country was not always united behind such a document. Prior to constitution being made law in 1789, our country was governed by a weak set of documents known as the Articles of Confederation,

This is the preamble to the beloved Constitution of the United States. In this one sentence, the Constitution gives a sense of hope and nostalgia to the American reader. Looking at the first line, you will see that it says, “…in Order to form a more perfect Union…” (Greenholt 185). That implies that there was a union before that they were planning to improve upon with this document. What union are they

America was built on the thought of freedom, that anyone could come here and be whomever he or she wanted and do whatever they wanted. However, this standard doesn’t seem to stand still since gay couples are not allowed to fully express this. They are refused the right to marry the one they love, they do not get to participate in one of the most sacred traditions we have. This should change and allow them to marry whomever they please. There are already 33 states that have legalized this right, and there are many others who are recognize it. However, gay marriage should be legal through out all the states because of how marriage can be defined, it doesn’t affect anyone else except who’s in the relationship, and they deserve the legal rights.
Within America’s society today, 3.8 percent of the population is gay, lesbian, or bisexual. With only 17 of the 50 states legalizing and recognizing this type of relationship (“History…”), it puts a stronghold on same-sex couples to publicly declare their love with the promise of marriage. Same-sex marriages should be legalized because everyone has equal rights of freedom and liberty.
Gay Marriage has been debated in many countries for a long time. It interferes with citizens civil rights so is therefore a major issue. Many gay couples today have come out and expressed their sexuality. Although many people are against legalization of gay marriage, I believe it should be legalized for the reason that it encourages strong family values, leads to the increasing number of child adoption, and is a citizen civil rights.
In conclusion I argue that banning same-sex marriage is discriminatory. It is discriminatory because it denies homosexuals the many benefits received by heterosexual couples. The right to marriage in the United States has little to do with the religious and spiritual meaning of marriage. It has a lot to do with social justice, extending a civil right to a minority group. This is why I argue for same-sex marriage. The freedom to marry regardless of gender preference should be allowed.
Same sex marriage should be legalized. Gays and lesbians deserve to have the same rights in their unions as heterosexuals have. It is important to legalize same sex marriage because:
Marriage is the most powerful way for couples to show their love. However, it will be unfair for someone to try and negate the rights of married couples. Therefore, all types of marriages including gay marriages should be legalized since couples deserve equal rights and freedom. Opponents of gay marriage point out that it is against God’s laws, but they forget that the same Bible also promotes equality regardless of gender, race and religion. Moreover, if marriage is all about love, then those in love and committed to one another should be allowed to the freedom to marry regardless of their gender and age. Studies have revealed that heterosexual marriages are failing at a very at the very alarming rate. Based on this knowledge, gay marriages must, therefore, be legalized.
Many people believe in a traditional marriage between a man and a woman. God created man and woman to be faithful and produce children. Same-sex marriage is contrary to the word of God and the laws of nature; therefore, it is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups. Many biblical scriptures talk about how immoral same-sex marriage is.
