Cloud computing has captured the attention and imagination of the business and IT worlds as of late. A general atmosphere of positive analysis surrounds the potential and future of cloud computing. “In May 2008, Merrill Lynch . . . estimated the cost advantages of Cloud Computing to be three to five times for business applications and more than five times for consumer applications” (Slabeva 2010, 47). An IDC forecast suggested a near three-fold growth of spending on cloud-related services from 2008 to 2012, attaining forty-two billion dollars (Slabeva 2010). Amid all these forecasts and positive predictions, it seems obvious that the cloud is here to stay, and that those who harness it correctly will have the opportunity to grow their business, seemingly almost indefinitely. Cloud-based applications, or Software as a Service (SaaS), is contended as the reason cloud computing came about in the first place (Marks 2010). To the end user, cloud-based applications are what make cloud computing work; they’re the applications of the Internet. Applications such as Google Docs, which includes, among other things, a word processor, a spreadsheet creator, and even a drawing tool; SalesForce.com, which offers a wide array of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools; and 37signals, which offers a number of business collaboration tools, all available on the cloud. With the booming of cloud, a increasing number of enterprises are considering transferring the business to cloud because the move seems to help the enterprises not only to enhance working efficiency but also to decrease operating cost. However, findings indicate that under current circumstance, the portability of enterprises based on cloud is limited (Armbrust et al., 2010). Comparing to the potential expenditure one enterprise may face, the benefits it gains from may appears less attractive. Evidences in aspect of costing, efficiency and security are showed and discussed to get a conclusion.
To understand how cloud computing can be of value to an organization, it is important to us that we understand the cloud and its components. There are three different types of cloud computing services referred to as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). IaaS delivers cloud computing infrastructure servers, storage, network and operating systems as an on-demand service. SaaS is about software deploying over the Internet. PaaS allows a creation of web applications without the complexity of buying and maintaining the software and infrastructure. In this paper, I will suggest that Innovartus Technology Inc should use IaaS as a replacement for PaaS because IaaS is a rapidly developing field with resources such as better services, cost variability, utility pricing model and dynamic scaling.

Cloud computing is a term that was coined as a metaphor representing the infrastructural network being used by myriads of computers and servers. This term has also been described differently based on its user application, infrastructure using it and supplying the services (Vaquero, Rodero-Merino, Caceres, & Lindner, 2009). This paper explores the definition of cloud computing, its myriads of application in the IT industry, its advantages, histories, development, its future, and issues affecting it.
Major difference between Grid and Cloud computing is Grid systems are architected in the manner such that individual user requests can consume large fraction of the total resource pool and Cloud systems often limit the size of an individual request to be tiny fraction of the total available capacity. The focus of Cloud computing is to support large number of users and the focus of grid computing is to allocate maximum amount of resources to handle single request from user in order to finish the task in minimum amount of time.
