Does running/walking for cancer awareness actually benefit cancer research funding? In Reddit’s argument, people are confused by raising awareness from walking/running a 5k because only a little of the money earned goes to cancer research funding. He also feels like different Universities that does cancer research raises tuition for college students and also several pharmaceutical companies and corporation. My personal opinion on walking/running a 5k is it’s not only to aware people on cancer but to bring people together with similar backgrounds, for example I know a lot of people who run/walk because they had someone in their life that has battled cancer. Finally, some people think walking for awareness is not beneficiary to helping cancer, it has a huge impact on the people who walk, like bringing people together with similar goals in effort to strengthen the community. Reddit’s argument is illogical because it’s lacking research on why a 5k walk/run isn’t beneficial to actual finding a cure for cancer. …show more content…
In Reddits argument, he talks a lot about Universities raising tuition to help fund cancer research and why he doesn’t believe walking/running in a 5k helps “aware” people on cancer because it doesn’t help fund certain cancer research foundations.
In addition to he doesn’t believe that 5k benefits anyone or anything that has to do with cancer other than getting people together to walk/run, he also talks about how University like Duke and UNC has higher tuition rates for college students to help fund cancer research and how if they needed extra money to fund it they could just take money from other places than to do a 5k for
it. Foremost, in Reddits arguments I found a couple of weaknesses, first off he talks about a lot of Universities like Duke and UNC have higher tuition but he doesn’t provide us with evidence to prove it, and secondly he doesn’t give research on his findings or statics on different college tuitions to compare to Duke or UNC. Another weakness would be when he talks about how walking/running even helps cure cancer, my opinion is it may not be curing cancer but walking the 5k is getting more people aware of cancer and it brings people with similar backgrounds together for a great cause, also someone could be running for a cancer patient to help pay for treatment as well as donating to a certain hospital for people who need help with medical bills Personally, my experience of walking a 5k with my class only 5 out 14 people showed up to this event which was about 35.7%, I found this by simply dividing 5 into 14 then multiplying that by 100 which gave me 35.7 which could easily been calculated on the computer or calculator. Furthermore, about 36% of us would learn about cancer and also getting to know our community better. Also, in Reddits argument where he also thinks the money for the awareness doesn’t actually go to an awareness but by doing research on the article I found where Relay for Life has brought in 3 billion dollars to organizations for cancer research. In Reddit’s agruement, he provides that profit pharmaceutical companies and corporations also help fund cancer research and I find that to be true because a lot of companies let cancer patients try their treatment to see if that helps them and their certain type of cancer. I think he did good stating his reason’s on the situation because he stated evidence in his article. Finally, in Reddits argument, people feel as if walking/running for a cure, isn’t actually helping find a cure for cancer, but in some cases it’s the little things like people walking/running to raise a certain amount of money for a certain cancer patient to help pay medical bills. Overall, I believe raising awareness is to help people be more aware on cancer and to also to get regular checkups to make sure your healthy, and to also share similar backgrounds with your community on the situation and grow from it. In conclusive, many people feel as if walking/running for awareness doesn’t actual raise awareness and isn’t beneficiary to help find a cure, but as I proved it has a big impact on the people who walk, like bringing people together with similar goals in effort to strengthen the community.

Cancer, like humor, is an equal opportunity offender. And cancer has become almost like a national pastime, which is just another display of the brilliance of Sherman Alexie. You can’t go anywhere without running into multicolored ribbons and pricey paraphernalia commodifying death and infantilizing the very personal and agonizing fight to survive cancer. Everything put in place to raise awareness in order to find a cure has been done with the very best of intentions and the hope for a future without the dark, overhanging cloud that cancer brings to so many people’s lives. But that support ironically creates a sense of audience, of fandom and voyeurism, the ribbons becoming the admission tickets to the new national pastime. Cancer itself is like a bad joke that just won’t quit.
It’s a Sunday afternoon and the whole family is over at grandmother’s house playing a fun game of pickup baseball until they realize they do not know how to hit a baseball. Luckily it is a rather simple process that can easily be taught and learned.
...in to treat African American women as a whole instead of patient X, then there will be a change in the rate of deaths among African American women with breast cancer. However, these women must also decide to trust those providers and receive pre-screenings in order to be proactive about their own health, and the government needs to actively provide affordable ways for women to receive these screenings. There is plenty of evidence available that shows the problems with African American women dying from breast cancer, so people must be educated and aware of the problem in order to bring about a change in society. As Louis Giglio once said, “awareness brings about action, and action brings about change,” and hopefully, people will use this information to bring about awareness to ripple into change for African American women aged 40-80 especially regarding breast cancer.
Running in a girl’s cross country meet isn’t as easy as it sounds, but with a little experience and help it can become a better experience. The first thing everyone does is line up on a spray painted line in the grass. Before the race even starts the race official tells us the rules and counts everyone that is running. He also tells us about any big holes or ditches that we may encounter in our 2 mile journey.
“Man masters nature not by force but by understanding. This is why science has succeeded where magic failed: because it has looked for no spell to cast over nature”. From the beginning of time man and nature has been in conflict with one another because, as a whole, there is no cooperating. Each one tirelessly wants its way. The Man is fighting for dominance and nature w never yielding its authority. In American Literature, many authors illustrate this theme in their writing. Specifically the writers Jack London in The Law Of Life, Stephen Crane The Open Boat and Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Fin. Each explores the relationship between humans and nature but with slightly different methods. Mark Twain uses nature in a realistic way, Jack London in a naturalistic way and Stephen Crane constitutes a combination of both.

Thus, you should donate money and support this foundation because it is one of the top-rated charities in the United States. In any case, this foundation does great things to help people with breast cancer. Contributions to NBCF can help by using the money to provide the mammograms and other programs included in this organization. Financial offerings can help women detect breast cancer and have it treated early. Breast cancer has no cure, but NBCF can allow people to have a chance at life. It would truly help many people if you educated yourself, your friends and your family. Knowledge can mean everything in cancer diagnosis. Given these points, everyone should take action with this disease. Janelle Hail is now living her life as a cancer survivor and giving the gift of life through NBCF to all those who deserve to come out on
Government funding has proven to be essential and effective in the fight against cancer. On December 23, 1971 President Nixon signed the National Cancer Act, which promised to finance the quest for the cure. Financial aid such as this has directly benefitted survival rates for those diagnosed with cancer. Forty years ago before such funding was provided, when a child was diagnosed with cancer most physicians considered the patient to be terminally ill and supportive care was almost the only thing offered to the family. However over the last few decades, due to research and participation in clinical trials performed due to funding, the majority of children are cured. Because of the creations of new drugs and therapies as a result of government aid, the survival rat...
Can you believe that even YOU can be arrested for throwing a snowball? “While Chicago is infamously unsympathetic to those who wish to exercise their Second Amendment rights, it appears Windy City authorities are similarly very sensitive to “weapons” of all types – even those made of snow.” On february 24, 2014 an 8th grade student in Chicago, IL was charged with a felony for throwing a snowball at a peace officer. The 8th grader should have not been charged with a felony because it is not a weapon, also the snowball hit the car.
...erved by the medical establishment. On May 11 we hope to draw 20,000 people and raise $1 million for the foundation. This is an event that not only educates the community on breast cancer awareness, but also empowers women to survive.
What makes a good person good? According to WikiHow, "We should learn to define our own morals ourselves. One of the simplest ways to do so is to love others, and treat them as you would like to be treated. Try to think of others before yourself. Even doing small things daily will greatly enrich and improve your life, and the lives of others around you." This quote shows us what we need to do in order to be what society thinks as, “good". In order to be a good person, you have to do good and moral things in your society consistently. However people might think that by doing one good thing once in a while will automatically make you a “good person”, but in reality it doesn’t.
