Rough Draft Story
I stood there just staring I could not move. Every time I moved o\n took a breath I felt him getting closer. Quickly, I had to do something but I did not know what. I feel like he has a gun or a weapon but I do not know for sure. I was 5’4 and 87lbs., and this guy had to be at least 6’9 and 250lbs.. There was no way that I would win in a fistfight so I just had to sit there and hope he would not see me hiding. I decided to run, I got shot in the leg.
That is when I realized it was just a dream. Just a very bad dream.
It was 12:07AM and there was no way I was going to bed after that just happened. 1:32AM I still could not fall back asleep. I was just too scared that, that would happen again. That night I did not fall back asleep and when I went to get out of bed in the morning I realized I had been sweating all night.

I was getting ready for school in the morning, when I remembered about my dream the other night.
I was trying to think about what might have caused my bad dream. Could it have been the news or something I was reading in the newspaper. It must have been the news because when I was watching the news they said something about a person who just killed some kids when they were walking back from school.
I gave my mom a kiss and walked to the bus stop. At school me and my best friend Ashley were talking about the killer and how we wanted to see if we could find him. The plan was that at 11:30 we were going to sneak out at look for him during the night. Most of the school day was normal, but at 11:43 we heard a announcement over the loudspeaker saying that are school was going into a code blue and it was not a drill. A code blue is where we have to hide and turn off of of the lights because there is a intruder in the school.
“Ashley are you ok” I said quickly trying to hide somewhere safe. I ended up hiding behind a tipped over desk with papers and folders
everywhere. “Yeah John I am just really scared” she said shaking like ice. She was hiding behind a lip in the wall just barely out of the sight of the window. Over the loudspeaker we heard two people fighting and then there was this loud bag and a woman like screming following that. All the girls started to cry and they wanted to go home. We heard footsteps coming from the hall and then a knocking on the door. “Let me in” The mysterious voice said. Pounding on the door and shooting it. That is when everyone went crazy and were yelling things like “never”and “why should we”. That's when he found out we were in there. He was trying so hard to get inside the classroom and then the kids all stood at the door waiting so right when he got in the class they could attack him. The man got inside the classroom and then the kids charged at him. He had a gun and shot, but he missed. Everyone tackled him and then the gun fired again, but this time is hit someone. It was Ashley. She was hurting and I could tell it was bad. She was crying a lot and blood was going everywhere. I took my belt and tied it around her left leg to try to stop the bleeding. I called the cops and then the killer started to run. I chased after him into the parking lot when we got out there a cop came out of nowhere and tackled him. The cop got shot and then the guy ran away. I went home after school and then told my everything. She was so surprised and asked me if I was ok. I told her I was and then I asked her if I could go look for the man later tonight. Right away she said no. I did not listen to her and later that night I went out. I was going to all of the abandoned tunnels when I came across some weird footprints. I keep flowing the footsteps when I saw a fire and a man right by it. He saw me I think, but I did not know for sure. But now he stood up and was looking right at me and then I took off running. He chased after me and followed me all the way to my house. I was locked out. He was so close to me when I was trying to open the door. My dad got the door when he heard my knocking. Right when I got inside I slammed the door. My parents were very mad and I got grounded for staying past my curfew. I did not tell them what happened and I was already grounded. I told them everything and they got very very mad. I had my phone taken away for 3 months and I could not hang out with friends for 1 month. At school the next day I told Ashley everything. And she told me about the bullet wond. She had crutches and had wrap all over her leg. She also said that she might not be able to walk good ever again. I felt so bad for her, because I did not think that there was that much I could do for her. We found out that the killer was under arrest and that they were going to try to get the school as back to normal as possible.
I was interupted by a man who cleared his throat. I turned around to see what was going on, he growled so I turned back around. I was now terrified. I noticed that my father had fallen to the back of the pack I was curious as to why he did such a thing. I was finding the trip very difficult as my legs hurt when I took a step. I heard the same man clear his throat I looked behind me and I saw his machete unsheathed and raised in the air, I knew this was not going to end well for me. The man slashed at me with his machete. The pot I was holding fell and broke. I was running to my father and while I was doing so I cried, “My father, they have killed me!” as approached him Okonkow, my father slashed at me with his machete.
Have you ever woken up feeling like you’ve been to the end of the world and back, yet never left your bed? Or maybe you might have had all your worst fears realized when you were asleep? In that case, you were probably dreaming. Dreams are a “series of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep” (The American Heritage High School Dictionary, 2004). Everyone has about three to seven dreams a night, but it has been estimated that we forget up to 95 percent of them ( Stevens 2011). Although no one really knows why we dream every night, it’s more likely than not a way for our brain to help us solve problems.
After about one and a half of hour after falling asleep, just before the REM phase at slow-wave sleep phase, night terrors usually happen. There is a solid family and genetic link for these terrors, and most often happen in several members of a family. Some negative emotional events, which affect your mind greatly, can cause sleep terrors as well, because night terrors often connected to anxiety and depressive disorders. When terrors happen, they could causes unresponsiveness, confusion, disorientation or amnesia temporarily; or dreamers, may do some dangerous actions. In the worst case, these terrors have serious and even fatal effects, when the dreamers try to escape from bed or to fight, which hurt dreamers consequently. These will affect the individual’s relationship with others as well.
In conclusion, I hope you learned something about dreams that you didn’t previously and that you now realize that it’s not “just a dream.”
The dream was about a little dog. The dog was walking on my chest, while
Is anyone truly a stranger to nightmares? Has anyone not woken up in a feverish sweat with a racing pulse or pounding heart? Whose eyes have never wildly searched their room for the phantoms of a dream? Now, what if the familiar consolation of learning it was all in your head never came? How do you wake up from a nightmare that is, in fact, a reality? I think I’m getting ahead of myself. What I mean to say is, I was raped, and rape is a nightmare.
Anxiety and stress have long been thought to be a primary cause of nightmares. According to The International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD) traumatic life events such as major surgery, long term illness, grieving the loss of a loved one, suffering an injury or being involved in or witnessing a major accident can trigger bad dreams. But traumatic experiences are not the cause behind all nightmares. For many people, ordinary stress caused by job or financial anxiety, or major life changes such as moving or divorce, can also trigger disruptions in sleep and bad dreams. Because some nightmares are believed to be a subconscious release of emotions and inner turmoil, feelings of inadequacy, insecurities and fear may also be contributing causes for night terrors in adults and children. My hand shaking at every thought, a cold shiver ran down my spine as cold sweat trickled down the side of my forehead. I lifted my hand up and a strong smell hit my nose, it was the smell of blood. I lifted the object and shock hit me like lightening, fear displaced my sadness, sickness changed my bloodstream from blood to a thick liquid pus and vomit. I held the muscle with my right hand as my left hand was paralysed with shock. The adrenaline shot me forcing me to move but shock shattered me into thin slices that were impossible to put back again.
The short story, “The Yellow Wallpaper,” written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman focuses on a young woman’s psychological downfall and her fascination with the wallpaper within the house she and her husband are living in. The woman begins to believe that the wallpaper is coming alive, which leads her to become confused with reality and fantasy. Gilman selects the crazed woman as the narrator of the story. Furthermore, Gilman uses first person point of view to effectively convey the woman’s emotions and feelings during her mental decline.
I also watch A LOT of true crime series and I have since I was around the age of 7. Also my favorite television series is “Dexter” and in the series Dexter has a sister named Deb who is a detective and before the dream I was watching “Dexter”. Another latent part of the dream was the involvement of a young child. I desire to be an elementary school teacher after I graduate so I think that is how that aspect worked it’s way into the dream. Another piece of latent content in my dream was how it took place during the “back to school” season. That makes since because I had this dream during the month of September which is when everyone usually goes back to school especially the younger kids. The City in my dream symbolizes where I live today so that is how it worked it’s way into my dream. Lastly, my biggest fear is of being shot. So, the part where I got shot symbolized my worst fear. That part of the dream also caused me to wake up
My dream had begun on a deserted shore. After a while, I was able to find a little cottage that belonged to a fisherman. I needed from him a boat in order to get to an island (it looked like a great mountain that was rising from the water and was covered with snow). All of a sudden, I sat in the boat with four of my roommates as well as with my father and grandfather. However, only then have we found out that we do not have enough food to get to that island, so we turned our boat back to the harbor. Upon our return, we had gone into a forest that was covering almost all of the land that we were able to see. After a period of time, the length of which I was not able to determine, we have found an arbor and there were many deer running around it. But instead of shooting any of them, I shot an old ugly pig with six bullets. That was the end of my dream. The next day in the morning I wrote it down as soon as I woke up.
Although an individual believes a dream has no importance, statistics have proven that dreams can be sent as warning messages or messages of reassurance. The aftereffects of the dream can leave feelings ranging from foreboding to understanding to complete confusion. The only part left to figure out is how the dream applies to daily life.
It was just another day of my life. The fourth ring of my alarm woke me up. As usual, I was not feeling to go in school. I slept a couple of more minutes. After while, the shine of the sun coming from the window woke me up.I slowly stretched my arms and slid out of bed. I brushed my teeth and took the shower. Downstair,my mother was calling me for breakfast.I was still undecided what should wear for school. After browsing for while I found something to wear, and finished getting myself ready for school. When I checked the clock, I was running late as usual, which was not a surprised. I quickly ate my half sandwich and left the rest of the sandwich on the table.I took my car key, jump in my black Lexus and made my way to school.During my way to school, I got a call from my friend John. John is my best friend since when we were in middle school. He told me that his car was broke down and he needed to ride to school. Fortunately, my friend house on my school way. I told my friend. I am on my way to pick you up from your house. As I got there, john come out from his house and jumped in my car. With sound of Drake singing and music blasting, it was a
The traditional short story is a genre of a prose. It is a fiction work that presents a world in the moment of an unexpected change. The traditional short story obeys some rules, such as the unexpected change and major events with detail. The modern short story is a revolution which is based on the traditional short story. In other words, if the traditional short story is in the first floor, the modern short story is in the second floor. Therefore, the modern short story still obeys some rules that the traditional short story obeys, and breaks some rules that the traditional short story obeys. One rule that the modern short story still uses is the unexpected change. The rules broken by the modern short story are that the major events are not detailed, and that the border between the real world and the fiction world. This paper first talks about the unexcepted change and uses the examples of “Eveline” and “The Open Window.” Then, this paper talks about major events with detail, and uses the examples of “Lottery,” “The Open Window” and “Hills Like White Elephants.” Finally, this paper talks about the meta-literary and the border between the real world and the fiction
