Theodore Roosevelt was born October 27, 1858 in New York City. His mother was Martha "Mittie" Buloch, who was a Southern Belle. She was rumored to have been a prototype for the Gone with the Wind character Scarlett O' Hara1. His father was Theodore "Thee" Roosevelt, Sr. who was of Dutch heritage. His family owned a successful plate-glass import business.
Roosevelt, Jr. was homeschooled as a child due to illnesses and asthma. This gave him more time to pursue his passion with animal life. He had two other siblings. In his teens, he developed a physical routine of weightlifting and kickboxing. His father passed away when Roosevelt was in his second year at Harvard College. He graduated magna cum laude in 18802. He then went to Columbia Law School where he met Alice Hathaway Lee of Massachusetts.
Roosevelt did not stay long in Law School. Instead he decided to join the New York State Assembly as a representative of New York City, becoming the youngest to serve in that position. He became Captain of the National Guard and minority leader of the New York Assembly2. The day came when Roosevelt was struck emotionally.
Roosevelt's mother and wife died on February 14, 1884 within a few hours of each other3. Roosevelt was at work in the New York state legislature trying to get a reform bill passed. He was summoned home by his family. He got home to find his mother had passed from typhoid fever. Alice Lee died of complications of birth a few hours after Roosevelt's mother. She had given birth to Alice Roosevelt5.
With a devastated heart, he told those around him not to mention his wife's name. Roosevelt left Alice with his sister Bamie. He left for the Dakota Territories where he lived as a rancher and worked as a sheriff for two years...

When he returned, he was a representative to the Republican convention in Chicago, and this is where he started his amazing friendship with Henry Cabot Lodge that would end up lasting the rest of Roosevelt’s life. Two years after his first wife’s death, Roosevelt got married again to a woman named Edith Carow in 1886. Before Roosevelt became President of the United States, he held several political positions, including the assistant secretary under John Long, the president of New York City’s Board of Police Commissioners, Vice President, but one of his most important positions was the command of the Rough Riders, Teddy’s regiment in the Spanish-American war. While in command of the Rough Riders, Roosevelt became an American hero after a victory against the enemy that no one that was there expected him to survive. After doing so well while at war, Theodore felt that he had earned and should be given the Medal of Honor, but this is something he never got to
Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York City, New York in the United States. Theodore was the second child of four children in a wealthy, upper-class family. Theodore’s father was a businessman and philanthropist. Theodore’s mother was also born from an affluent family. Starting at a very early age, Theodore suffered from a heavy case of asthma and had horrible eyesight throughout his whole life. He did a lot of physical activity and developed a very strong physique. Despite physical barriers, Theodore had a very strong outlook on life and was very strong physically and mentally. Theodore was also very intelligent and he attended Harvard College and Columbia Law School.
Theodore Roosevelt was one of the most influential people in the early 20th century. His leadership style, his reforms, and his personality shaped an America that was rapidly becoming a world power. Theodore Roosevelt is admirably remembered for his energetic persona, his range of interests and achievements, his leadership of the Progressive Movement, his model of masculinity and his “cowboy” image (). He was a leader of the Republican Party and founder of the short-lived Progressive Party of 1912 (). Before becoming President, he held offices at the municipal, state, and federal level of government (). Roosevelt’s achievements as a naturalist, explorer, hunter, author, and soldier are as much a part of his fame as any office he held as a politician. His legacy lives on as one of greatest leaders in American history.

Theodore Roosevelt JR. was a very sick boy, he suffered from asthmatic attacks which caused the frightening sensation of drowning (Grondahl 2015 7-8). These sensations and attacks caused Theodore a lot of obstacles in his childhood. Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 in New York, New York. While her parent were alive she lived in Italy with them. He father was Elliot Roosevelt, he was a junior partner at a real estate firm. He had alcohol and narcotic issues. Her mother was Anna Rebecca Hall, she was a popular debutante and elite figure. She died when Eleanor was almost 10 and Eleanor was an orphan until she was given to her maternal grandmother. Eleanor Roosevelt was the oldest of her siblings, Elliot and Gracie Hall Roosevelt. Growing up she received private tutoring since she was wealthy. She was taught grammar, arithmetic, literature and poetry. Later, she was also taught German, French, Italian, composition, music, drawing, painting and dance. Although she was not taught on subjects like politics and history, geography and philosophy, her instructor informed her a limitedly exposed her to it. She was raised as Episcopalian, and she kept that as her religious affiliation. This religion is a form of Catechism, which is Catholic, which is the religion that most people were during the time she lived. When she was about 20 years old, instead of returning to the United States from England where she received her schooling but she became involved in the social reform movement during the Progressive Era. After a while, she moved to New York and became a teacher. She was 20 when she married Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was 22. They got married on March 17, 1905. They had one daughter and five sons. As the wife of a popular United States president, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born in New York City, October 11, 1884, and died November 7, 1962. She was an active worker for social causes. She was the niece of President Theodore Roosevelt, and was raised by her maternal grandmother after the premature death of her parents. In 1905 she married her cousin Franklin Delano Roosevelt. They had six children, but one of them died in infancy. Although she was extremely shy, Eleanor worked hard and became a well known and admired humanitarian. (Webster III, 100).
