Given that both Romeo and Juliet are both young, they made endless sacrifices and decisions just for them to be together without considering the consequences. Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy. It tells the tale of two lovers from rival households and the tragic journey that leads to their destruction. The play shows all the events over the course of four days in Romeo and Juliet’s home town of Verona. Monday through Thursday is all we have to see of the Montague and Capulet families to acknowledge their hatred for each other. The play shows the struggle of Romeo and Juliet in their efforts to stop the hatred between their families and live happily ever after. But despite their efforts, they end up digging their own graves, showing how different actions have different consequences.
Juliet’s parents, mainly her father, force her to marry Paris which she refuses reluctantly. This causes Juliet to search for a way of not marrying Paris, due to the fact that she is already married to Romeo and loves him deeply. She later on agrees to take a poison in order to make everybody believe she’s dead. Unfortunately, Juliet wakes up too late making Romeo assume she’s dead and causing him to kill himself. Afterwards, Juliet commits suicide since her only love is dead.
However, each time that they seem to make any sort of advancement toward their goal of being together, another problematic force is introduced and poses a threat to the survival of their relationship. His plan for Juliet is to tell her father she will marry Paris then go to bed with no one, not even the nurse. After, she will drink a potion to make her seem dead for forty two hours and then have a messenger tell Romeo about it. He will have her put in a vault to wait for Friar to bring her out so she and Romeo can elope. The plan was perfect until tragedy occurs, Benvolio had seen Juliet dead and immediately tells Romeo about it. The result is Romeo and Juliet murdering themselves and the play had a tragic ending. Immediately after Romeo hears of Juliet’s death, he makes the major decision of killing himself in a very short amount of time. Once he makes his choice, he does not spend enough time considering what he should do, and so he is not thinking clearly about what exactly he is doing and how it affects not only him, but the people around him. After Romeo kills himself, Juliet awakens to find him dead, which leads her to kill herself. By choosing to die, Romeo not only kills himself, but also Juliet because he did not use his time to think about his actions.
