It would have made more sense to use modern day language since they tried to modernize a lot of stuff, such as outfits, props, and especially the Capulet party scene. During the Capulet party scene, the characters wore costumes that would have been worn back in Romeo and Juliet's time, yet, the music, lighting, and dancing was modernized. There was only one "center piece" on stage for every scene, which was nice because it was simple and did not distract from the acting. But it would have been interesting to have a little change in scenery. Overall, Romeo and Juliet was an entertaining performance and earned a six out of ten. Most of the actors and actresses portrayed their characters well. Having more cast members would help with confusing role changes. The stage and set was nicely done because it was able to be used in every scene, but adding extra scenery would not hurt. One thing that took away from the production was how they tried to modernize a lot things but still spoke in Shakespearean language. The play would have been much more impressive if it was not

The vision and idea the director wanted for this play made the play achieve its full potential and helped delivered a message. The play was overall staged effectively and I appreciate the decision for slanting the floor in order for the audience to see more of the play. This was a nice addition for this production. The pace flowed accordingly and I was never truly bored at any scene during the play. The play engaged me all throughout its runtime. The casting the director made was done correctly and it showed in the way each actor was able to play their role successfully. An example of where the casting was well done would be Matthew’s bestfriend. I saw that she was fit for her role and her acting made her character believable. Overall, the directing decisions were all done right and benefitted the
Romeo and Juliet - Movie vs. Book & nbsp; Often times people say that William Shakespeare was and still is a legend. They are correct. It is amazing how Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet was written. centuries ago can be better than Franco Zefferelli's movie production of Romeo. and Juliet, which had much better technology to work with only decades ago. Although the movie appeared better, it left out some major parts. The play had better mood and plot details which made it much more dramatic and by far a better presentation of the. & nbsp; One major difference between the play and the movie occurs in mood. An example of this is the marriage scene. In the marriage scene of the play, Romeo and Juliet is very serious. The reader can tell this by the way the two speak. Romeo says that the Holy Words the Friar speaks can make something without an equal (Act II, Scene 6, Line 4).
Romeo & Juliet Romeo and Juliet was a tragedy, but it did not have to be. Many things could have been done to prevent their deaths. Many characters contributed to their deaths. The sole character that was responsible for their deaths is Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence is responsible for the deaths of the lovers because he was secretive with their relationship, he was unable communicate effectively, and he had a cowardly persona.
Romeo and Juliet Although Romeo and Juliet become inextricably smitten with one another, they both enter into the relationship from different perspectives. Their love is strong, but each has their reasons for the intensity of their love. Romeo has just come out of another ?crush?. He has liked Rosaline for quite awhile, but things do not work out because the feelings are not mutual. Romeo sees that Juliet is a beautiful lady that he falls in love with right away, while he attends the Capulet Party. Juliet also instantly falls in love with Romeo, but it could be more of an escape for her.
Since this is a review and its based on my opinion, I would have to say this was one of the worst plays I've ever seen in my life. I wasn't entertained by the play at all. The only good parts were the good-looking girls in the play. I like the main character Marisol based only on her looks. She played on ok job of acting. I realize she had a lot of lines to memorize which she had down, but she just didn't get to me. I think the costumes were ok. They had nothing special, or out of the ordinary except for the angel's wings, which were pretty nice. I didn't like the lighting or the scenery. I didn't know where the scene was supposed to be at some points.
“Feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health, still-waking sleep, that is not what this is” (Shakespeare 1.1. 179-180). A string of contradictions explain the love story of Romeo and Juliet, a contradiction. Some critics consider this story a tragedy because Shakespeare once wrote; “the fault is not in our stars but in ourselves”. While others say it does not follow the standard Aristotelian form of tragedy (Krims 1). Romeo and Juliet can not be a tragedy because no flaw causes them to fall, the lovers, could not have controlled fate, and family and friends assisted them to their deaths.
In the end the original stands out much more compared to the movies of it. It takes away from the movies from the theme presented to the music chose for it. These flaws and many more take almost the whole experience away. Truly in the end the far superior best telling of Romeo and Juliet is in the origional, and it truly provides the best experience.
Even though the themes were similar, the plot of the movie and the play were rather different. In the movie, Mercutio, Romeo’s friend, got an invitation to Lord Caplet’s ball where Romeo and Juliet meet, but in the movie Romeo and this friends go to Lord Capulet’s party uninvited. What's more, is that when Romeo was at the ball he was recognized by Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, from the sound of his voice in the play, but in the movie Tybalt sees him. In addition to that one scene where Juliet was hysterical because she thought Romeo was dead was completely absent in the movie.
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy- but it did not have to be. Romeo and Juliet is the tragic story of two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, who are the son and daughter of two feuding families, the Montagues and the Capulets. Written by the famed playwright Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet takes place in the 14-15 century in the cities of Verona and Mantua, cities in northern Italy. After a series of events that involves Romeo getting banished from Verona and Juliet getting forced to marry a count, Paris, they kill themselves. It has been argued for centuries about who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is set in the fictional city of Verona. Within the city lives two families, The Capulets and the Montegues, who have been feuding for generations. One night there is a celebration held at the house of the Capulet's. At the party the only son of the Montegues, Romeo, and the daughter of the Capulets, Juliet, see each other from across the room. The moment their eyes meet we are supposed to believe that they instantaneously fall in love with each other. Because they are from two warring families their love would most likely be forbidden. Juliet's father has also promised her to his good friend Paris. Because the love between the young couple is so powerful they go to Friar Lawrence and they are secretly married. On the day of their marriage Tybalt, Juliet's cousin, challenges Romeo to a duel. In the midst of all this chaos, Romeo's best friend, Mercutio, is murdered by Tybalt. Romeo then slays Tybalt out of revenge. When the prince of Verona finds out what Romeo has done he banishes Romeo from Verona forever. When the friar hears of this he devises a plan so that the two lovers can be together.
Romeo and Juliet is about purity. That´s what Romeo and Juliet are, a story of two young teenagers, against odds, falling in love in an absolutely beautiful way. The 1996 version ruins this purity by having the two lovers die in front of each other. It takes away the feel of originality. The play didn't need extra drama, and neither should the movies. The story line involves, the non adulation of two rebellious youth who decided to fall into a perfect world. Their death is suppose to be a tragic tale, in which fate killed them. This story doesn't need the excess drama of Romeo and Juliet dying in each other's
Jones really took his part on very well with how he acted with the girls. It really came off to me that I thought he was in love with Sophia, until he started messing with all the other girls. The plot of the play was definitely showed by how the actors acted and the introduction to the play said my McKinney. The introduction I thought really pulled in the audience and told them where the plot was starting and giving them a short summary. All of the characters really executed there part and made the audience believe everything they were doing. Such as when Terrell was kissing the girls it really showed that he was in love and set the mood for the audience. The theme was excellent and everybody on the stage and off the stage made this play worth watching. Although there was one mess-up and that was when somebody on the cat walk dropped napkins and fell on the audience. That is a mistake that should not happen! As being a director they should really tell them the point that there is no room for mistakes. Other than that everything went smoothly that I could see. The diction was very precise with some of the
I could only imagine how difficult it is to act in such a complex and well known piece. Luckily I had the privilege to have some of the cast in other classes and learn what they thought and felt about the production as a whole. As the performance showed, they had a pleasant educational and performing experience. Which is what educational theatre is all about! While you don’t want someone to walk away saying that “it was a cute show”, in educational theatre what really matters is what the student actors gained from the process. Have no fear, this production was far from a “cute show.” Dramas are hard to pull off; you either do a tremendous job or flunk in my opinion. Thanks to good directing an incredible team you all did phenomenal. Definitely surpassed my expectations of the
