The play Romeo and Juliet is based on the lives of two very different families which are rivals, the Capulets and the Montagues. The two featured characters are Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. Romeo and Juliet end up meeting at a masquerade and fall deeply in love. The two lovers end up secretly getting married with the help from Friar Laurence. Romeo then gets banished and Juliet is forced by her father to marry a man named Paris. Juliet refuses to marry Paris and decides to take a potion that would make her appear dead, Romeo returns and is not aware of Juliet's fake death and proceeds to kill himself. Once Juliet awakens and notices that Romeo is dead she refuses to live without him and kills herself.
Juliet is a thirteen year old girl, who unlike Romeo is very protected by her parents which happen to be Capulets. When the story begins Juliet shows little interest in love and marriage. Juliet ends up changing a lot of her character traits as the play progresses. She has many character traits, like loyal and wise because she is loyal to her family and father but knows what she wants. Juliet is a very powerful young lady and is always looking for a way to make things work.
The roles of fate and destiny in Romeo and Juliet are very obvious. Romeo attends a masquerade party that he wasn't even supposed to be at. He went to the masquerade to find a girl, instead fate would have it that he would meet and fall in love with Juliet, from the rival Capulet family. Fate again is obvious when Romeo misses Balthasar who has news that Juliet is faking her death. Romeo then kills himself which leads to Juliet killing herself. The two star-crossed lovers were never meant to be together. No matter how bad Romeo and Juliet wanted to be together fate and destiny would not allow
