What do you think caused a great impact on all the characters in both stories? Their destiny or personal choices? In the two texts The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe the characters were impacted more by their own decisions. The characters decided their actions that lead to very dreadful consequences. In the text Pyramus and Thisbe decided to run away together. Secondly, after Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time they immediately decide to marry one another. Lastly, a decision that affected the characters greatly is when Juliet quickly decided to drink the potion. All these self-inflicted decisions impacted the traumatic endings of these texts.

Romeo and Juliet is widely known to be a tragedy, but what caused the atrocity for which it is so renowned? Some may argue fate was to blame for Romeo’s and Juliet’s deaths, that the situations these young lovers faced were depicted as being out of their control. Could Romeo have refused to attend the Capulet masque? Was Romeo destined to duel the raging Tybalt? Did Romeo and Juliet truly have to kill themselves? If one considers the specific circumstances and causes of these situations, the fact that all scenarios are the result of choice rather than chance, and the notion that the characters were never left without options, only one conclusion can be determined. It was unarguably the decisions made by characters, not those made by fate, that were responsible for the tragedy in Romeo and Juliet.
“Romeo and Juliet” is so much like “Pyramus and Thisbe” it is excruciatingly obvious. These timeless tales tell the story of true love, and also the loss of death. “Romeo and Juliet” can compare to “Pyramus and Thisbe” for three reasons; the lovers come from disagreeing families, the tales are both tragedy, and they are based on misconception and ill-timing. Although these stories are painful, they are also true to human nature, and that is why they are so similar.

Famous texts often have many similarities as it makes good discussions to find all the possible things that are very related to one another. These certain texts between Romeo and Juliet and Pyarum and Thisbe are almost so closely related, that there are infamous of resemblances that you can point out. There are the obvious general observations, but once you dig deep, you find that there are much more comparisons that meet the eye. Since they are so closely related, we are able to really truly understand the concepts that stand out through each reading. This will make our thoughts deeper and more powerful towards both texts. Life is filled with difficult situations and tough choices to make. The question is, should we choose to make them ourselves? Some people feel it's best to do things alone, while others do not. However, the opinions of people who love us positively affect our choices so it would be smart to consider them in most cases, but not in those that are very personal.
Teens may seem to make the most stupid, irrational, and rash decisions they possibly could for the seemingly relatively easy lives they live, but being an adolescent isn’t easy. The teen characters from Romeo and Juliet all make some pretty stupid decisions, but they are, in fact, teenagers; their brains are not actually yet fully developed. They don’t have the same capacity to make decisions with the distant future in mind as those of us who do have more developed brains. Therefor, they shouldn’t be held to the same standards as adults, as their brains are just more likely to lean towards risk taking and impulsive behavior - it isn’t their fault. Though adults can help guide adolescents through decisions, teens need to be able to try things and learn by themselves. The adults in this tragedy definitely were not a good example of how to take care of teens, and probably are at fault for the terrible decisions many of the teen characters made, just as much so as the teens themselves.
Man has this brilliant tool called imagination allowing them to think up ideas and concepts that didn’t exist before. Although everyone’s imagination is different, sometimes the same idea can be used and transformed into another person’s work. This is the case of Homer’s Pyramus and Thisbe, and William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. To the normal person several similarities are obvious between the two works. Some similarities between the texts of Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe are: the two pairs of lovers wanting to run away together, the parents ignorance of the subject, and the lovers killing themselves thinking the other was dead.
Romeo and Juliet made many choices out of their own free will, including an irreversible decision that ended in despair for all characters. “All are punished!”(5.3.305). In the play “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, the actions of Romeo, the actions of Juliet, and the actions of others prove that free will is more paramount than fate in the plot of the play.
When one looks closely at the story of Romeo and Juliet, one will see that it is a story with many ethical aspects. The first ethical concern was the two feuding families. How moral is it to hate someone only because they have a certain family name? This all come from a time period when people were fairly focused on religion, which teaches us not to hate. I also question this because I think it is ironic that both Romeo and Juliet seem to be fairly religious, since the first person Romeo went to for help was Friar Lawrence, and a few scenes in the play took place in or around the church. I think that this hatred is especially bad in the case of the Capulets and the Montagues, because I was always under the impression that the families had been feuding for so long that no one really knew why they hated each other anymore. This was the beginning of the problems for Romeo and Juliet. They had a moral decision to make. Should they stay true to their families, and deny their love, or should they stay true to their feelings and disgrace their families? In order to resolve this dilemma, Romeo turns to Friar Lawrence, who perhaps could be seen as the most moral character, to begin with. Because he was a holy man, he was the most logical confidant of anyone in the play. People see men of the cloth as reliable and a good source of advice. Of course, Friar Lawrence has every intention of helping the two lovers, also hoping that he could reunite the feuding families. However, unbeknownst to him, everything he will do throughout the play will have an unnerving consequence. No matter what he did to correct what he had done wrong, it only drug him deeper into trouble. Who ever would have thought that by marrying the two young lovers, he would have caused all of this heartache for the families, and really for all of Verona? No one ever considered the fact that two young people wanting to get married would have affected the entire city. Friar Lawrence was only trying to be a good friend and ally, but everything he did just ended up backfiring for him.
Once in a while many people make bad decisions. Usually these decisions don’t cause them any harm in their futures, unlike Romeo Montague’s and Juliet Capulet’s decisions. In Verona, a city in Italy, two lovers fall in love. The catch is their families despise each other. Eventually Romeo get’s banished from Verona, and Juliet is forced to marry someone she doesn’t want to marry. Juliet takes a potion that knocks her out for 42 hours, and feigns her death, hoping she does not have to marry Count Paris. Romeo assumes Juliet is dead, and drinks a potion that kills him, and when Juliet wakes up and realizes that Romeo is dead, she stabs herself. In William Shakespeare’s tragic play, Romeo and Juliet, the main protagonists, Romeo and Juliet, make poor choices which eventually lead to their death at the end of the story.

The main theme in both stories is the forbidden love between two people. There are many similarities in these tales but also some outstanding differences. In Romeo and Juliet, there was a family feud between two families the Capulets and the Montagues which did not allow the two star crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet to be together. “ From ancient grudge to new mutiny”( Shakespeare 377).
Is Romeo ,and Juliet a tradgedy of fate or character? Attemping to prove either of these would conclude in an endless debate. Although in my opinion , I believe the two star crossed lovers were destine to create the path that has already been written. For instance , on page 146 Juliet states “Go ask his name. If he be married. My grave is like to be my wedding bed.” This is a perfect example of fate , because Juliet foreshadows her own death , in which later in the story her grave does become her wedding bed. Another example that supports my view is on act 3 scene 1 when Mercutio says “A plague a’both houses!” This is ironic ,because right after he says that , both the Montagues and Capulets experience horrible , and tragic events that eventually
