In the 15th century the Roman Catholic church was very powerful. The Roman Catholic church was such a powerful institution during medieval times due to the Franks converting to Christianity, the church providing education, and due to the pope having more power than monarchs.
First and foremost, many German rulers and their subjects converted to Christianity. Clovis converted,as did his subjects. Charlemagne and his subjects converted as well, as stated in World History, “ A deeply religious man,he also encouraged and sometimes forced his subjects to become Christians.”
