Robotics
Welcome to Robotics!!! This STEM course is designed to strengthen your problem-solving abilities while you work with partners to complete challenges related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Our lesson plans are based off of Carnie Mellon University's curriculum for robotics and engineering. LEGO Mindstorms kits and EV3 Programming will be our main platform for designing and constructing stable robot builds with higher level commands and integrated sensors. Aside from LEGO builds and programming challenges, be prepared to confront

I CAN... follow guidelines for hands-on building, programming, experimenting, and problem solving BY using the EV3 software and activities.
Training Activities:
There are nine easy to follow training activities walking you step-by-step through the entire process. . The activities will teach you hands-on building, programming, experimenting, and problem solving. Each activity will provide text and visuals to help you connect with the activity on the EV3. Each activity has a real world connection and a challenge at the end for you to apply what you have learned.

October 18, 2016 the Career Services Center collaborated with Tracy Flynn Bowe from New Directions to bring SCSU What Color Is Your Personality. The lively event was held at 12:30pm in the Cascade Ballroom, located in the Atwood Memorial Center. The purpose of the event was to gain more self-awareness and embrace our personalities. It was an informative, exuberant, entertaining seminar that was worth attending. It jumpstarted the catalyst to start becoming more aware of who we are and our personal traits.

Artificial intelligence is slowly being applied to the wide field of robotics. Anyone interested in intelligent robotics can look into programming in robotics and learning how A.I. is applied. Programming artificial intelligence into robots is no different than on a computer except for the variable of motion and environment. There are starter kits and current A.I. robotic research to look into if one is interested in getting involved. This section will cover the basics in getting started on figuring out how artificial intelligent robots work.
the retail industry is highly competitive which means a product could pass from highly seek to a “dust collector” in a matter of a few months. This makes valuating inventory very hard. Deloitte asserted this statement by strictly defining what was to be considered obsolete inventory and setting a wide amount range for what was to be considered obsolete. However, Just for Feet’s estimate was around 63% lower than Deloitte’s lower range. Deloitte did not thoroughly check such a discrepancy even after noticing category #3 for obsolete items was totally ignored a WHOLE warehouse was omitted from inventory count.
Inventory management is a method through, which a business handles tangible resources and materials to ensure availability of resources for use. It is a collection of interdisciplinary processes including a full circle from the demand forecasting, supply chain management, inventory control and reverse logistics. Inventory management is the optimization of inventories of manufactured goods, work in progress, and raw materials. According to Doucette (2001) inventory management can be challenging at times; however, the need for effective inventory management is largely seeing more as a necessity than a mere trend when customer satisfaction and service have become a prime reason for a business to stand apart from its competition. For example, Wal-Mart’s inventory management is one of the biggest contributors to the success of the company;
It is a shared truth that humans often tend to think of robots as nothing more than computer machines made of objects like metal, plastic, silicone and computer chips. However, in truth, a robot’s general purpose is more complex than some know. In order for a robot to function, it must carry out a set of arithmetic or logical operations, and programming the specs is difficult task that could take years to finish depending on the purpose of the robot.
Nowadays, technology is a dominant feature in the lives of people around the world. Most of daily life activities involve the use of technology which is expanding every day through scientific innovations. However, such innovations do not always occur in every part of the world, but mostly in technologically developed countries, such as South Korea, the USA and Japan. Presently, the development of robotics science has become a subject of considerable attention in those countries. According to Weng, Chen and Sun (2009, 267), “Technocrats from many developed countries, especially Japan and South Korea, are preparing for the human–robot co-existence society that they believe will emerge by 2030.” The word “robot” was introduced in the beginning of 1920th by the Czech playwright Karel Capek from the Czech word “robota”, meaning “forced labor” (Robertson 2007, 373). According to Robertson (2007, 373), robot, in practical usage, can be defined as an autonomous or semiautonomous device that is used to perform its tasks either controlled by human, fractionally controlled and with human guidance or regardless of external actions that are performed by people. Regrettably, the majority of robots in the past centuries could not operate without human control and intervention. However, the progress in robotics over the past few decades enabled humanity to achieve soaring results in creation of autonomous humanoid robots.
Each of the six basic styles of robot used in industry today were designed with different applications in mind. Some of the robots were designed for assembly, others are more suited for simple pick and place applications, while a select few are capable of carrying heavy loads over a large area.
Scientific progress makes huge milestones toward developing new advanced technologies which are more and more present in human lives. Today robots replace people in many spheres such as health care, security and military, industry, education, entertainment and science. Role of robots becomes more significant because they are able to do the job which people are not able to perform well. Sometimes people are too lazy to do some routine work, due to such situation those tasks could be delegated to machines. People’s life become more technology based what makes demand for efficient robots larger. Engineers say that today robots look like machines, but in near future robots will have more human appearance, today they do some simple job, but in near future much more complicated tasks would be trusted to them. History of robotics goes far to the history when the ancient Greeks describes first devices that people were projected to fly to the sky like birds. In fact, heart of any robot is some program that direct the device and control it actions. Robot cannot perform the tasks that was not programmed in it and this if the factor what makes it quite limited in its actions. Current studies in robotics are aimed to remove those disadvantages and make robots more functional and universal through development of artificial intelligence that can operate independently. Curiosity of world community to robotics increase every day what make all the research and inventions in robotics more demanded. History of robots, resent achievement and future perspectives of robotics have to be studies and researched to understand what machines can give to humanity and what pros and cons exist in the r...
The concept of weaponized autonomous robots is heavily debated due to the ethical implications their existence poses. Over the years, the stance on how to approach such a topic has drastically changed with the need to create newer weapons for the military to compete with potential threats from other nations. As this paper will discuss, what used to be a precautionary approach when discussing robot autonomy has now taken a backseat to the rushed development of these weapons. The research of this technology has now produced an arms race, as predicted by writers from the past who warned us about the issues that may rise from creating such weapons before establishing a mutually agreed upon code of conduct. Being that there were no real boundaries on this type of technology in the pre-2010 era, many researchers sought to establish guidelines. But their attempts seemed to have fallen on deaf ears when many experts today agree that such weaponry inevitably under production due to the power

Inventory management involves planning, coordinating, and controlling the acquisition, storage, handling, movement, distribution, and possible sale of raw materials, component parts and subassemblies, supplies and tools, replacement parts, and other assets that are needed to meet customer wants and needs (Collier & Evans, 2009). In order for business and supply chains to run smoothly, they must meet all the listed requirements for effective inventory management. Thus, inventory management must be managed wisely in order to be a successful an...
