Rick Riordan’s writing style can be best described as courageous . His work emphasizes fighting with your inner demons and in this case it would be a young adult with Dyslexia and ADHD, this exemplifies themes of fortitude and persistence. Although he is recognized for being a mythical writer , he is also popular for addressing the difficulties a child could face with Dyslexia and portrays the importance of it. The defiant and friendly tone often shown in his work is typical of his writing style. The subject matter of his books reflects the troubling times of a 14 year old with Dyslexia trying to find his purpose and overcoming obstacles in his way. Ultimately, his literary worked served as an outlet for many American citizens from all
Devin Friedman is a creative storyteller who incorporates observant details in his writings, which makes the readers feel like as if they are part of the adventure. Devin attended the University of Michigan, and he was awarded as the winner of the Hopwood Contest. This contest was hosted by the university committee who appoints experienced judges and the Ann Arbor community to select winners in different writing divisions. In his recent years, Devin wrote for numerous publications such as The Best American Crime Writing, The Best American Travel Writing, The New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, Esquire, People's Stories, and GQ. Out of the many articles Friedman has written in the past, “The Best Night $500,000 Can Buy,” “Famous People: James Franco,” and “The Unbearable Awkwardness of Being” are the ones I have chosen to read because of the interesting subject matters and the different writing styles.
Lynn has been through the special education system and was diagnosed with dyslexia in her twenties. During her elementary years, Lynn could not quite put her finger on it but she was different from the other children. She had difficulty reading and writing and could not keep up academically with her peers. Around this period of time, Lynn began taking special education classes where she would receive instruction, which would help her get on task. As she moved through junior high to high school, her LD became more apparent. Lynn felt alone and different from the other children, which was shown through her voice as she felt ashamed for having to go to summer school.
“The Short Bus: A Journey Beyond Normal” by Jonathan Mooney is the story of his journey around the U.S. in short bus nonetheless to meet with different children and their families who have faced challenges in school due to ADD, ADHD, Autism, and other learning disabilities. Jonathan Mooney himself faced the disability of Dyslexia and often had to deal with many challenges in school himself, but he appears to be one of the more fortunate ones, who was able to grow from his disability and ultimately get a degree in English. Needless to say, his book and journey lead the reader to question what really is “normal”, and how the views of this have caused the odds to be stacked against those who don’t fit the mold. Throughout, this story, for me personally however, this story gave several events that I found moving, and had the potential to influence my further work in education.
Our abilities are often what we use to define our worth. Whether we fail or succeed our future lifestyle is open to our discretion; however, we fail to realize outside influences have the ability to cripple us. One way in which this is true is through the education system. If we fail to meet the average or typical standards of others we often mark ourselves as useless. Children, and adults, facing adversity in literacy see this as a daily struggle no matter what their individual disability is. In “Dyslexia” by Eileen Simpson, and “The Library Card”, by Richard Wright, details are what define their disabilities to their audiences. Through the descriptions presented in “Dyslexia”, we have the ability to place ourselves into Simpson’s point of view; meanwhile, in “The Library Card” it is easy to draw a connection between this story and the struggle of those in slave narratives such as the one written by Frederick Douglass.
Several people have trouble writing college level essays and believe that they are unable to improve their writing skills. In “the Inspired Writer vs. The Real Writer,” Sarah Allen argues how no one is born naturally good at writing. Sarah Allen also states how even professional writers have trouble with the task of writing. Others, such as Lennie Irvin, agree. In Irvin’s article “What is ‘Academic’ Writing?” states how there are misconceptions about writing. Furthermore, Mike Bunn’s article “How to Read Like a Writer” shows ways on how one can improve their writing skills. Allen, Bunn, and Irvin are correct to say how no one is born naturally good writers. Now that we know this, we should find ways to help improve our writing skills, and

My Dyslexia by Philip Schultz is a very powerful book. Philip Schultz is a Pulitzer Prize winner for his writing of poetry. Schultz’s oldest son was diagnosed with dyslexia. It wasn’t until Schultz was fifty-eight years old that he discovered he shared a lot of the same symptoms as his son while looking over his neuropsychologist’s report.

Dealing with the problem of learning difficulties in children's books, Theresa Breslin's excellent book “Whispers in the Graveyard (1994)” is chosen to represent children's dyslexia while “The Turbulent Term of Tyke Tiler (1977)” written by Gene Kemp is the other selection related to a late developer. Based on the research, there are some features often identified in children with learning difficulties: being teased or bullied, misbehaviours, and the lack of self-confidence (Prater, 2003: 58). These three elements can be found in both cases, indicating these features are general situations that happen in children’s school times.

Dyslexia is the most prominent learning disability here in the United State but, it is also the most misunderstood. For centuries, those with dyslexia have been labeled as stupid and incompetent, when in fact they extremely intelligent, excelling in areas such as art, science and music. Due to our lack of knowledge and understanding, we as a nation are ignorant, deeming truth to the stereotypes that have long been associated with this so called “disease.” In order to reverse the damage that has already been done, we must differentiate fact from fiction. In order to fully understand dyslexia, individuals need to be provided with resources that address every aspect of the disability, including what it is, the possible causes, signs, symptoms and treatments available. Awareness is key to change.

What is writing style? I started out thinking that writing style is a personal thing and that all writers have their own style. But, this way of thinking is really just a simple way to answer the question. After more careful thought, I realized that style is actually quite the opposite of personal and original. Style is a form of standardization. As writers, we all follow certain rules and guidelines to make our point. Style is these rules and guidelines.

His stories are heartwarming and inspiring. Nicholas Sparks does not have a specific writing style. His writing style is flexible and liberal, and can be described as romantic, imaginative and engaging, and varies depending on the theme of the novel. The theme of the novel is the main thing that affects his writing style. Even though the themes of each novel mostly deal with love, each novel takes on different perspectives of love. His novels can be described as romantic, compassionate beach reads with real, relatable characters.
