Persuasive Strategies in Michelle Obama’s Remark The data is taken from the transcript of Michelle Obama campaign speech in Manchester, New Hampshire on October 14, 2016. In her remark, Michelle expressed her rage regarding a video of Trump’s locker-room talk in 2005. He openly boasted about how he tried to have sex with a woman and described it in an obscene language. Michelle voiced her anger and exasperation while using it as a means to win over her audience’s heart using some persuasive markers. The findings were analyzed and divided into three subchapters, namely quasi-logical, presentational and analogical. The first premise (p) was letting another candidate win; the second premise (q) was the opponent candidate will serve as a bad model for the children. The ~q was at the end of the excerpt in the form of a question that we already know the answer: that we do not want that to happen. The implicit conclusion from this logical reasoning was that we should not let Hillary lose in the election for the sake of the children. We did not want the future generation to have the same way of thinking and behaving as the opponent candidate.
