Brennan Patt Glick English 10 April 10, 2024 In the memoir, “Night” by Elie Wiesel, the author's main purpose is to “teach and delight” the reader about the tragic events that he experienced during the Holocaust. Wiesel is extremely passionate about the topic as he lived through one of the most tragic events ever recorded in the world. He informs the reader of this horrific information by making history very detailed and descriptive. Wiesel attempts to delight the reader as he shares his personal experiences of the Holocaust. The memoir isn’t necessarily a delight, but more of a privilege to know the inside horrors of what happened to him and others. Wiesel's purpose is to inform the reader as he has real-life knowledge of the Holocaust. For example, he taught about the Jewish ghetto of Sighet. …show more content…

The Jewish people were forced to leave their homes, rounded up to live in the confined space of the ghettos, and had to wear yellow stars to identify them as Jews. Weisel also successfully “delights “ the reader by sharing how the Holocaust changed him as a person. The reader is privileged to experience the harsh thoughts, guilt, and challenges that break the spirit of Wiesel and the other prisoners. “Listen to me, kid.
