From a political point of view, the year 2016 came along with many different surprises. Not only did Donald Trump win the Republican Nomination, but he also won the election and became Americas 45th President. There many reasons to why Mr. Trump won the Republican Nomination in the first place. The Republican party tends to prefer candidate that are reasonably “electable” and that hold traditional policy positions. Donald Trump did not present any of those values, which made him as a candidate stand out from all the other Republican candidates.
Also, Donald Trump dominated the media right from the beginning of his campaign. According to the article “Why Republican Voters Decided on Trump”, Donald Trump spent about $ 2

He spoke with such confidence, reassurance and enthusiasm at his rallies that people believed him that his policies and campaign promises will really take place. His biggest goal was to “make America great again”. The following is a partial quote from one of his famous speeches. This speech is known as “the speech that will make Donald Trump President”. “American cars will travel the road. American planes will soar the skies. And American ships will patrol the seas. American steal will wend new skyscrapers into the clouds. American hands will rebuild this nation. And American energy harvested from American sources will power this nation. American workers will be hired to do the job. We will put new American metal and new American steel into the spine of this country. Jobs will return. Incomes will rise. New factories will come rushing back to our shores. We will make American wealthy again. We will make America strong again. And we will make America great again” …show more content…
He is very confident, strong-willed and well organized. Some people see his confidence as being part of having narcissist traits as well. As already mentioned, Trump as proven himself that he has not problem targeting another person by insulting them. Whether is commenting on their physical appearance or calling them names. The lack of remorse and the statements that he had made in the past, such as: “I alone can fix it” have proven that indeed he is a very controversial person and not everybody likes him. Some people may say that he could be intimidating towards others as well with the comments he has made. All those characteristics together definitely helped him win the race. The majority of American people saw him as a strong, opinionated and successful leader that would bring great changes to the United States (usatoday.com).
The policies that Donald Trump projected also helped him to win the race for the Republican Nomination. From the day, he announced his candidacy, Donald Trump made it very clear that he wanted to crack down on undocumented immigrants. Many Americans agreed with this policy and were very supportive towards it. In the eyes of those supportive Americans, the undocumented immigrants would take away the jobs of legal Americans. Another point was that those supportive Americans were also fed up with illegal immigrants putting a strain on the American economy
In the book Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer wrote about Christopher McCandless, a nature lover in search for independence, in a mysterious and hopeful experience. Even though Krakauer tells us McCandless was going to die from the beginning, he still gave him a chance for survival. As a reader I wanted McCandless to survive. In Into the Wild, Krakauer gave McCandless a unique perspective. He was a smart and unique person that wanted to be completely free from society. Krakauer included comments from people that said McCandless was crazy, and his death was his own mistake. However, Krakauer is able to make him seem like a brave person. The connections between other hikers and himself helped in the explanation of McCandless’s rational actions. Krakauer is able to make McCandless look like a normal person, but unique from this generation. In order for Krakauer to make Christopher McCandless not look like a crazy person, but a special person, I will analyze the persuading style that Krakauer used in Into the Wild that made us believe McCandless was a regular young adult.
Politics is dirty and competitive and has not changed between 1879 and 2018. It is a complex system of jargon, charm, facts, and lies. Mark Twain’s “The Presidential Candidate” satirically expresses the essence of both old-world and modern politics as a presidential candidate who blatantly tells the truth of his wrongdoings. As a politician, one must be an open book. Their life must be truthfully written on the pages for the readers to analyze and evaluate their credibility as leaders. “The Presidential Candidate” resonates both in 1879 and 2018 with his use of humor, use of diction and use of subtlety.
In his “State of the Union” speech, President Barack Obama effectively uses the rhetorical devices of Ethos, Pathos and Logos to convey a more convincing message to the citizens of the United States to urge them to follow the example of the many people that have made their nation greater.
“Today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People.” With this statement, Trump had set the tone for his entire speech, and exhibits another of his main points in uniting the American people. “Rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation; an education system, flush with cash, but which leaves our young students deprived of knowledge.” Trump’s use of descriptive language, to create vivid imagery for the audience here is one of the most powerful statements he makes in his speech. The emotional response Trump is able to strike in the listener, and the feelings he creates with his appeals to pathos throughout the speech is a big part of what makes this an effective inaugural
Every 20th of January, the United States undergoes the passing of power from one president, to another. On this specific election, Donald J. Trump was elected as president. He has received much criticism from opposition, but much praise from his supporters. Although a very controversial person, Trump gave a great speech that was based on uniting the people as one. Trump used multiple rhetorical strategies such as repetition, pauses in speech, and listing are just a few of them. Adding hints of populism, his speech was one that touched many citizens. While very controversial, Trump’s inauguration speech was one that was based on the people, not the elite, about bringing back what made America great, and uniting everyone as one.
Our nation is plagued with problems, and we look to one man to solve them all, president Barack Obama. He plans to solve these in his address to the United Nations General Assembly given on September 24, 2014 in New York City. President Obama gave this speech in response to major issues that were taking place at that time. Some of the issues he talked about were Ebola, which was a deadly disease running rampant through West Africa, the conflict in Ukraine having to do with Russia, and the issue of ISIL terrorist groups. Obama talks about all of these issues to bring up one major goal of this argument. The goal is for the international community to come together to sort out and overcome the problems. He tackles two questions in this argument, “whether the nations here today will be able to renew the purpose of the UN’s founding; and
Donald Trump has been a bad influence to the United States that doesn’t deserve to be president. The entire thing he has done during his running doesn’t show that is able to be president. 5. Trump believes in American exceptionalism. Donald Trump will not be able to promise greatness among our society or a country. But he will attempt to make America great again. Donald Trump is a republican politician and businessman who was elected on November 8, 2016, as the president of United States taking the power in January of 2017. Trump brought many worries to a lot of people in the U.S.A and abroad which made them unhappy, but his presidency also made many people happy, especially Christians and republicans. I personally did not watch the debates, but I was able to hear about it on people around me, as most of the people that I know wanted Hillary Clinton to win because they saw so much of discrimination on Trump. Trump focused his campaign and debates on focusing on changing America for better, but the better changes were saying was only to give the opportunities to Americans only, cutting off the opportunity
America won’t be getting any benefits from that, only catastrophe.
This created much disbelief and shock across the grid. To summarize his entire presidential campaign in one word, it would simply be “different”. It is worth noting that Trump has taken an extreme approach against what is normally expected, and that resulted in one of the most divided political stances up to date. “David Robinson, who performed a statistical analysis of the President-elect's Twitter account in August, said Mr. Trump's tendency to tweet like an "entertainer" meant he was able to garner the “interest" of the American people, which in turn boosted his chances of election success”(Independent.co.uk 1). His appeal to emotion has personally benefited himself to the point where he remained a key subject of interest throughout the entire election. Whether or not he was favored, he was the most focused on topic for widespread
