The book The Great Gatsby is a modern American fiction book that illustrates the reach for the American dream in a society of rich and poor. Written by F. Scott Fitzgerald and published in 1925 on April 10th; this book is considered an original masterpiece. Gatsby, the main character, and Daisy, married to Tom, fight the urge of chemistry between them in a love and moral battle. As Gatsby's mysterious personality and daisy moral battle fight old feelings reemerging, their community is competing for wealth and social status for their own sense of an American dream. The lives of the characters that live in The Great Gatsby and their pursuit for happiness shapes their lives in mysterious ways. Another character in the Great Gatsby that is trying to achieve the American dream is Tom. From old money and high class, Tom Buchanan is a character that has a brutish personality and a tough body. Tom Buchanan’s American dream is vastly different from Mr. Gatsby's Dream. With money and a wife already in the picture, he desires something new and exciting to entertain him.
