Sylvia Plath, a talented yet stressful poet fulfilling her dreams. Many of her poems were based on the tragic events that have happened in her life. But still to this day she’s still studied and admired. Plath, in the 20th Century was one of the most spirited and respected poets. Her unique style of writing attracted many readers back then and still now today. Sylvia Plath’s “Mirror” shows how all the dramatic events and changing times that happened in her life affected her lifestyle, writing style and her poems.

Sylvia Plaths’ parents are, Aurelia Schober, her mother and Otto Plath, her father ere also very proud of her determined daughter (“Sylvia Plath.”). Aurelia met Otto Plath at Boston University, Otto was her professor. She was master’s student and he was studying bees. Even though Otto was supportive, he could also be stern and harsh with his parenting (“Sylvia Plath.”). But what happened to Plaths’ father would change her life forever. Plath was only 8 years old when her father died in 1940 due to diabetes (Harriet). Because of this tragedy event, it shaped what Sylvia Plath is now with her confessional style of work and vivid poems. An example of this is “Daddy” and “Mirror” (Biography.com). Which many of her poems were published before she even left high school and some after. She published her poems in regional magazines and newspapers.
