The Snow Leopard Description The snow leopard (Panthera uncia syn. Uncia uncia) is a large cat native to the mountain ranges of Central and South Asia. It is listed as endangered on theIUCN Red List of Threatened Species because, as of 2003, the size of the global population was estimated at 4,080–6,590 adults, of which fewer than 2,500 individuals may reproduce in the wild. Snow leopards have a smoky gray or tan color fur and a white underside. Their fur is spotted with dark grey or black spots, and their eyes are usually a pale green or grey color. Considered to be a smaller than most of the large cats snow leopards, generally weigh between 60 and 120 pounds. They have a short body compared to their tail, and they are considered to be …show more content…
Snow leopards inhabit alpine and subalpine zones at elevations from 3,000 to 4,500 m (9,800 to 14,800 ft) in the northern range countries, they also occur at lower elevations. In warmer summer months snow leopards live above the tree lines, where is it colder. Diet Snow leopards are carnivores, which means they hunt for their prey, but they do occasionally feed on vegetation. Their main prey consists of domestic livestock when it can be found, but they will also prey on anything from hares, to goats, to horses. The diet of the snow leopard varies across its range and with the time of year, and depends on prey availability. In the Himalayas, it preys mostly on bharals (Himalayan blue sheep), but in other mountain ranges, such as the Karakoram,Tian Shan, Altai and Tost Mountains of Mongolia, its main prey consists ofSiberian ibex and argali, a type of wild sheep, although the latter has become rarer in some parts of the snow leopard's range. [ They often like to hunt by sneaking up on their prey, and attacking from a higher advantage point. Most prey is killed by a bite on the neck, which
It lives its whole life above the northern tree line in the Arctic tundra, roaming across North America and Greenland but not extending into mainland Europe or Asia.
This rare species is worth saving because of variety of factors, this will affect the interconnecting, in other words the regions ecosystem. Additionally, is the people would help of preventing this to happen, this would also help on the biodiversity, and the development. The snow leopard, as one of the most significant predator in the mountains of Central Asia, the Snow Leopard plays a significant role on ecological system, the reason why is because as Prezi, mentioned, this rare species is in control of the populations and health of the wild species it preys on. If the snow leopard is saved it will protect the region, and the over population. The snow board will not only help not having over
They can weigh up to 100lbs, and grow to be 4ft long and 2ft tall! They have short, stubby legs. Their feet are webbed, which makes them excellent swimmers. They need these webbed feet to get away from their many predators such as wildcats and eagles. They have big front teeth as most rodents do. Fur on a capybara can range from red, brown, or gray. Altogether it makes them kinda look like furry pigs!
Conservation International (2014) describes a degree of sexual dimorphism between males and females, the male measures between 537-607mm weighing between 11.0-18.0kg. The female is shorter measuring between 472-601mm and also lighter weighing 8.3-18.0kg. An image of a macaque is included in appendix 1. The abbreviation of the Japanese macaque to Japanese snow monkey is indicative of the geographical location of the animal. The macaque lives in the subtropical subalpine forests of North Japan....

The common name and scientific name is a Florida panther and Puma concolor coryi. The description of the Florida panther is uniform tan color with lighter fur on their lower chest, belly and inner legs. The Florida Panther is found in southern Florida in swamplands such as Everglades, National Parks. Their diet is whitetail deer, feral pigs, rabbits, raccoons, and nine-banded armadillos. The size of a Florida panther is 2 – 3 ft. The family that the Florida Panther is related to is Felidae. Their predator and prey is hares, mice, and
The Siberian tiger measures 4.6 to 9.2 ft long, excluding the tail, which is 27 to 37 in long. The Siberian Tiger weighs 400 to 675 lb. It has thick yellow fur with dark stripes. The Bengal tiger is about 10 ft long, including the tail, and weighs around 400 to 569 lb. It is found in southeastern Asia and in central and southern India. Its coat is flatter than the Siberian tiger's coat, it has a darker color, and the stripes are darker. The Sumatran tiger is even smaller and darker.

What its eating habits are: Like all members of the cat family, tigers are carnivores. The Siberian tiger hunts a wide range of prey, including small mammals, deer, water buffalo, wild pigs, and birds. Tigers ambush their prey, often camouflaging themselves and observing their intended victims for long periods of time. Siberian tigers are strong animals, able to tackle large animals almost twice their size, and render the victim helpless by inflicting a series of deadly bites into the animal's spine or throat. This semi-nocturnal animals covers 6-12 miles each night in search of food.
In these winter times, the Amur leopard hunts and tries to find any food. These leopards are the rarest cats in the world. These cats are very hardy cats, but there are only forty left in the wild.
The cheetah, Acinonyx jubatus, is an animal that is well known for it’s speed. It’s characteristics are unique in comparison to other cats, like lions, leopards, and servals that inhabit the african continent. Each of the cats in Africa adapted to their own particular niches as environmental factors pushed them to different ecological climates than where their ancestors lived. This is part of the reason as to why the cheetah is remarkably different than other cats that live in Africa. Additionally, the cheetah is the only extant species in their genus, Acinonyx. It is hypothesized that there are at least 10 other, now extinct, species that belonged to the Acinonyx genus, which doesn’t include the 5 subspecies of the living cheetah.[1] The

In our world today we have approximately 26,021 endangered species. Endangered species are organisms that may possible become extinct. The term 'endangered species' refers to all species that fits this description. However some conservation biologists and scientists normally use the term ‘endangered species’ to refer to species that are put on the IUCN(International Union for Conservation of Nature)Red List. Many factors can be looked at when considering the conservation status of a species. Factors such as human threats or environmental threats can cause a species to become endangered.
