The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States marked a tragic historical moment in American history. The president was fatally shot by a sniper while traveling with his wife, Texas Governor John Connally, and Connally’s wife in a presidential motorcade at 12.30 pm on Friday, November 22, 1963. JFK was pronounced dead shortly after rushing to Parkland Hospital, where a tracheostomy and other efforts failed to keep him alive. Although Lee Harvey Oswald, a former United States Marine was convicted of the crime, the purpose behind the assassination remained inclusive as Oswald’s case never came to trial as he got shot to death two days later by Jack Ruby, a local nightclub operator in Texas. The assassination raised many questions and theories concerning the murder. As Oswald’s motives remain unknown, many scholars and investigators yearned to find the key to this mysterious crime, and came up with plausible theories searching for motives behind the assassination. While some straightforwardly blamed Oswald for the murder, claiming Oswald’s personal motives as the cause and supported the theory of the Lone Gunman, many developed more critical theories concerning conspiracies connecting the involvement of Cuba, Russia, the Central Intelligence Agency and the 36th President of the United States Lyndon B. Johnson. The Warren Commission was established by President Johnson to exclusively investigate the assassination. The Commission published a detailed report and concluded that Oswald acted alone. The deficiency of the Warren Commission’s evidence to support its theory along with the cordial relationship between JFK and the CIA refute both the Lone Gunman theory and conspiracies involving the CIA in...
In his speech at the 1829 Virginia Constitutional Convention, James Madison said “The great danger [in a republic] is that the majority may not sufficiently respect the rights of the minority.” When he said this, he meant that the idea of majority rule can result in the infringement on the rights of the minority in order to protect or further the rights, freedoms, or ideals of the majority. Journalists and the media are a major factor in shaping people 's political opinions, moral beliefs, and knowledge of current events. The diversity of voices and perspectives in the media helps to provide all viewpoints and sides of the story, especially when talking about current events and political issues. Whenever we are reminded of NYC, we think of Times Square or The Status of Liberty. However, we always forget what is right under our noses; the NYC subway system. I like to think of the subway system as a labyrinth because of it’s intricate network of passages that guides us to all over NYC. Just by looking at a map of the subway system overwhelms me because it is so hard to imagine how much work was put into making this beautiful yet complex structure. An average New Yorker may ignore the daily lives in the subway system but if you look closely you can see multiplicity of events taking place.
The First Lady is the backbone of the President she shows love and compassion for the less fortunate, she makes the President look more appealing . People like the President but people Love the First Lady no matter who she is. Two very good examples of this are Jackie Onassis and Michelle Obama. While they come from very different life styles they have definitely left their mark. In comparing Jackie Onasis to Michelle Obama one would realize that two women from totally different backgrounds can make an amazing impact.

These words said by a powerful president, who had helped this country not only be successful but a very strong country. John F. Kennedy said these words to tell Americans, you need to care for your country not just yourself. John F. Kennedy was not only a president but he was in the U.S. Navy, which I think means he has pride in his country and was willing to do anything he could do to make it a better place. In chronological order I will discuss John F. Kennedy’s life, his problems and struggles that made him a stronger man, and Kennedy’s accomplishments that helped change this country and the world.
Not too long ago, the 50 year anniversary of the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy was remembered. Many historians claim that his policies were mediocre and average. But what makes Kennedy stand out among the rest of the presidents? Historians suggest that he is among the most popular presidents, if not the most popular one. So what makes Americans see Kennedy as such a memorable president? Was it his childhood and his family history? Was it the series of unfortunate events that led to his path to the presidency? Was it his policies? Or was it the way most Americans remember him, because of the way he died? John Fitzgerald Kennedy could be among the most memorable presidents because of all these ideas combined. If one little thing about the way he grew up hadn’t happened the way it did then he may not be the incredible president we remember him as.
It all started May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts, the day John F. Kennedy was born. Jack as the Kennedy’s called him was born to the parents Joseph P. and Rose Kennedy. Jack may not have been the first born in the family, but he certainly wasn’t the last. He was born as the second child out of nine children in the family, and they all were successful. All eleven of the Kennedy’s lived in a clapboard house in Brookline, a town just outside of Boston. Jack had a lot to live up to though, being the second born and also being named after Rose’s father John F. Fitzgerald, or Honey Fitz as some referred to him as. Honey Fitz was a popular politician and a former mayor of Boston.
“I am a woman above everything else,” Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis once said. To the world Jackie Kennedy was a pretty face, a strong woman that stood by her husband until his death. However, too often people refuse to look beyond the exterior, and really dig deep into what makes a strong woman so strong. The public front Kennedy showed was not all she was, in fact there was so much more she hid from the public eye. She wanted to escape from it all, to be a normal person after her husband’s death and that was the one thing she could not have. From before she became a Kennedy, through her personal life with JFK, through her time as a First Lady, and the aftermath of JFK’s assassination she kept her head high, something most people have such a
A young boy, just breaking into his adolescence, at Choate boarding school was living in the shadow of his older brother. Unlike his older sibling he had no spectacular athletic talent and was often plagued with many different illnesses. The fact that his grades stuck strictly in the average margin only cast the shade further over him. It also didn’t help the young boys case that he defied authority on campus on a regular basis. One day while sitting in chapel, he took comments about the undisciplined boys on campus, branded “muckers”, as a personal challenge and created a crew of “miscreants” and dubbed the clique “The Muckers Club”. Ultimately, as a result of his leader status in the group his father was summoned to speak with the headmaster directly. It may seem hard to believe but this young boy would become one of the most memorable and effective president’s in American history. John F. Kennedy would grow to posses an arsenal of leadership qualities that was wide in scope and used with the precision of clockwork. Jack, as he is also called, exhibited theses attributes simultaneously during his presidency in his speeches as well as dealing with foreign affairs, and through actions in and out of office.

Without a doubt, Times Square in New York City is a unique experience, but the image created by TV and movies does not show the gloominess that accompanies the euphoria of being in the Big Apple. The atmosphere is so exhilarating and exciting, you don’t even know what to do for a few minutes, but it is tinged with the bitter reality that sadness and melancholy also trail closely behind the positive. With most, if not all, of your senses being stimulated – sometimes all at once – Times Square creates a memory that will surely be cherished, and haunt you for the rest of your life.
