In the 1960s london was getting a reputation as a leader of pop music in which society was changing rapidly. Until Jack the stripper a serial killer that was active in london,Hammersmith in the late 1960s who caused fear . The victims were all prostitutes, their bodies were all undressed . He left all his victims naked , many with their teeth knocked out, he strangled them, and shoved their underwear down their throat. The bodies were found victims were found in the Hammersmith district of London, in or around the River Thames.


Jack the stripper was also known as the Hammersmith murders. He had a total of six victims,Hannah Tailford, Irene Lockwood,Helen Barthelemy, Mary Fleming, Margaret McGowan, and Bridget O'Hara. The first victim was Hannah was found in the river Thames under the Hammersmith Bridge on February 2, 1964.Her underwear was stuffed in her mouth. April 8 Irene was found on the shore of the Thames .three weeks later a man named Kenneth Archibald confessed to the murder,which was dismissed due to inconsistency with his story. …show more content…

This time the killer left paint on the victim's body. The detectives thought it came from where the suspect might have worked so they traced it, but did not find any suspects. On July 4 Mary Fleming was found in a sitting position at the entrance to a garage in Berrymede Road. They found the same paint as the last victim.
